Shin Megami Tensei and Persona

And here's the cat

Everything about Morgana makes me feel like they are less interested in making new and compelling characters and more interested in repeating what worked in Persona 4.
Don't tell me the main character has a pet that is actually Morgana in disguise or something. I will throw a chair out of the window.

Oh, wow. Nana is voicing Anne? Color me even more interested.

I think Anne works because she is someone raised in Japan but not Japanese.
It works because while she is a native, she's still seen as a fish out of water.

You literally see a cat turn into Morgana in the second PV.
It has to be Morgana.
Bye-bye Meow's chair.

So is Morgana the teddie of the story only seems waaay more useful?

Morgana is already an infinitely better character than Teddie and I ain't even a cat person.

She's got fucking Zorro as persona what more could someone goddamn ask for

Would you like to go? We can use the chair legs as clubs.

Speaking of which, all the new party member Personas look incredible.

That is absolutely fantastic. Wow, I hope all of the music in P5 follows this style.

It's absolutely excellent. I don't know if it will live up to I'll Face Myself though, only time will tell.

Also 1:30 sounds just like a bit P1's final boss theme (which I adore)

My thoughts exactly.

I don't like I'll Face Myself...

I'm getting way to hyped for this game. I don't even mind the delay. Gives me more time to finish P4.

Speaking of Persona 4:

Im stuck on the heaven boss after Nanako gets kidnapped. Any advice? My team is level. 56-60

You might wanna grind for like, 2-3 more levels. It is sort of a wakeup call boss, it's the hardest thing you've encountered so far. Find out his weakness when he does that one move that switches what he's strong/weak to ASAP and heal every turn.

Game color is red, rumors were mentioned in the trailer quite a bit and in a few other places and now we have a new Ginko.

I hope these aren't all coincidences.

I also wonder what the deal is with the cast turning into mice for a stealth section, part of one of the painting worlds or just a general mechanic.

I'd hope it's just a gimmick for one of the worlds
I mean, I'm assuming it's probably a world or even just a section, we've seen them sneaking around in dungeons as humans, just kind of interested if it's anything more though, but I'm with you.

I'm glad there's gimmicks at all. P3 and 4's dungeon design was bland to say the least.

I'm happier that structure and at least movement seems different in general, hoping it will be enough to make levels around so they're not the usual garbage.

I don't think it can be said enough that one of the best things we've seen about this game is it's not the same game again, regardless of feelings towards 3/4, I can't see how you'd just want more of the same.

PERSONA 5 ANIME!!

They're also planning a 20th anniversary festival.

Oh, so that was the opening! Surprised they're showing it now when the game is almost a year away.

I assume there are a few other spoilers in the visuals they don't want to show off yet since they cover them up with the performer. But I do think her voice is very nice even through the accented pronunciations.

I had a thought earlier about how the fact that initially awakening to a persona in this game seems to grant you your phantom thief outfit, and it has design motifs in common with the actually persona. Assuming that Ultimate Personas return in this game (likely), do you think they could gain new updated thief outfits? It could fit with the whole costume system that's in P3 and 4. Just cool to think that there might be more than one non-joke outfit per character.

Also, I'd initially thought that things like casual clothes and different school uniforms would be costume options, but then that would go against the whole 'thief identity' thing, basically blowing your cover if you steal a heart while wearing your schools logo. I hope its a feature that stays cos I really like their styling red tracksuits with the chevrons.

More news.

Story

Our heroes shake up the big city as the “Heart’s Phantom Thieves.” They send notice in advance to persons to confess their crimes and reform, and set out to steal the “rotten hearts” from “rotten adults” for the sake of changing a rotten world.

Personas

  • Protagonist – Arsene
  • Ryuji Sakamoto – Captain Kidd
  • Morgana – Zorro
  • Ann Takamaki – Carmen
Fifth Party Member

The fifth member of the Phantom Thieves is a young man named Yuusuke Kitagawa, voiced by Tomokazu Sugita. His persona is Goemon. He is a scholarship student that attends the Kousei Public High School as part of the academy’s art course. He is a live-in disciple of his Japanese painter landlord Madarame.

Well that pretty much made it an easy decision to import the game. Sugita is awesome.

So is that Carmen as in Carmen Sandiego? Or is there a historical thief named Carmen that I'm not aware of. Considering that Arsene Lupin is fictional, this would make Carmen the most contemporary persona in the series.
