Shin Megami Tensei and Persona

Why must you always ruin everything?

Beat all of Soul Hackers last night...game is ok. Good...but its old...and it shows

Yeah that's its main drawback. They shoud've done more to catch it up to speed with today's SMT games in terms of combat. I would actually really love an updated remake like what they're doing with Strange Journey.

I mean, the more convoluted combat is fine (though being able to look up what everything does outside of combat woulda been nice). I just wish demons leveled up and the dungeons werent almost all ass.

I don't mind demons not leveling. More incentive to fuse often.

Very true. The smaller roster of demons wasn't that disheartening to me, either. Though it would have been nice if your controlled character coulda learned other attacks besides just sword and gun. Is there even a use for the magic stat for the main character?

In most of the old games it's for MAG DEF, in SH people only tell you to level it so you can equip the Masakado armor.

I thought as much. I pretty much just pumped into ag, st, and vit. Hit like a truck with basic attacks and took a bit to die. That is until instant kills came into the equation.

Reminds me, can anyone confirm if mc death in persona 5 means instant game over? I hope not. That shit is old and should have died long ago.

YOU WILL LISTEN TO THE ENGLISH DUB THEY WORKED HARD ON AND YOU WILL LIKE IT

eh....besides morgana

battle over music is godlike doe

MC death still means Game Over, last I checked. I think it's justified, though, due to how the plot is presented.

clearly it not being there anymore is the message in itself

The impermanence of all things... Life... Love... Twitter rants...

I want to listen do the Japanese audio because a voice actor died during development and I want to respect that.

I loved Miyu Matsuki, and we lost a great seiyuu with her passing.

Tapatalk screwed the link.

Let's try again (remove the spaces, yadayada)

Yeah, I share some of these concerns. Between the DLC prices and the fact they're holding them back for weeks to a month means I've pretty much decided not to buy any of them.

I honestly dont care about all the DLC stuff mainly because it's just cosmetics.

Still, they COULD give some game homage cosmetics free of charge. You don't need to give the game dry and naked just because it doesn't affect balance.

the DLC personas do affect balance though
There's, what, a dozen or so DLC personas?

Xibalba is one of the worst dungeons in any persona game ive ever played. Omfg this dungeon is stupidly long and has inconsistent difficulty and insta kill spam and...gah its a pain in the ass.

EDIT: playijg P2 while i wait for work to finish so I can play P5. Just needed to rant lol

Can anyone confirm if any other version of P5 comes with a physical manual? I got the PS3 copy and it felt light, turns out there is just a URL to a manual. Can't do anything about it since it's the only console I own and all the special editions are PS4 only.

You don't like mechs spamming Lance of Longinus?

It's a sad day for Atlus fans when they keep pulling the same nonsense of DLC schedules. Also I feel bad for anyone like me who liked Strange Journey because we're probably going to get shafted with this re-release. At least I kept my old copy + soundtrack.

Is more the kamikaze spam that gets me. And the infuriating encounter rate

PS4 version-owner here. Just a lame slip of paper warning about seizures and shit in my copy.

considering it's persona, it was very nice of them to warn you about all the shit in the game

Early impressions

Game's good. You're treated like total dogshit by everyone and it's pretty engaging. The scene where you talk to Ann about Kamoshida at the restaurant and Suzui attempting suicide the following day really gripped me. But there's a lot of retreaded ground from P4, it's hard not to compare the two as you go along.

The first dungeon is really really fun so far. Seriously shits on any dungeon design from any past SMT game. Stealthing around enemies is cool, but the corner peaking and hopping is a little clunky.

Overall enjoying it so far.

A Note on Persona 5 and Streaming | Atlus USA:

“Our game is a dark tale of rebellion.”

“But please follow our precise, draconian rules for playing and talking about it or we will destroy you.”

Spoilers suck, I'm really glad they're taking a firm stance against having this game be spoilerized, especially after people have been waiting 5 years for it.
I, for one, welcome our new Atlus Overlords.

I just can't believe that Makoto was the Origami Killer the entire time, guys

I can't believe Junpei is Ryuji's ultimate Persona, it makes so much sense for his character

no, its more like
'hey look guys, AtlusJP really doesn't want people to spoil this game, so in your best interests, please don't do anything with the game in a way it can be spoiled for others"

but hey, lets treat games like bags of money. because "muh lets player numbers!"

or keep posting random fake spoilers. it certainly proves people have the moral high ground.

Wouldn't you know how shocked I was when Goro turned out be Ken, Mikazuki, AND Philemon. Then he started dancing all night with Adachi, who turned out to be the killer here too!

no, lets hold on a minute there.

you can easily ruin someone's Persona 4 experience by easily saying 4 words
Adachi is the killer.
imagine playing the game the first time, you just beat Yukiko, you feel good about yourself, you wanna go on youtube and watch a video to celebrate.
your reccommended videos show a video with the title of "ADACHI IS THE KILLER?!"
do you still want to finish the game?

Yeah, actually. Replace Yukiko with Kanji and you have my general experience.
I've been bulletproof against spoilers for as long as I can remember, so it doesn't matter to me.
I was actually relieved when I learned, because it meant they meant they did the obvious thing.

Now, I was actually disappointed when I learned that Dojima was supposed to be the culprit, because that would have actually been effective, but whatever.

Truth be told, I want to spoil Persona 5, but there's a few people around here I actually hold a decent opinion of, so I'm holding back

The fuck are you on about? I played the entirety of Persona 4 knowing Adachi was the killer and that didn't negatively impact my experience, what negatively impacted my experience was the writing and characters.

And for Persona 5 I know who the traitor is, and I know who the final boss is and that one is a big deal, I'm still just enjoying going through the game. Would I rather not have been spoiled? Of course, but this hasn't ruined the game or crushed my desire to finish it.

I'm not posting spoilers out of respect for others, you included, but I find it absurd there is an absolute ban on streams and LPs.

I feel it is a bit overkill, but they apparently dont want footage to get out there at all for anyone to be able to use.
which I'm fine with.
there's upsides and downsides, but I feel people are blowing the downsides absolutely out of proportion.
