Project Annie...In Motion!

Looks good dude. One thing that I keep wondering about is Sagan, should he be holstered, or should he be standing/sitting by her side? There's the issue that Annie utilizes him in her attacks, but I'm wondering how visible he should be in general. Just thinking.

Yeah I don't really know what to do with him either. For now I've decided to have him slung over her waist via her belt, opposite of her utility bag. This allows her free hand to grab him at any time, while also giving him a place to constantly return to. This allows for some unique and fun animation possibilities without making his positioning or details too complicated. She could also have some interesting attacks such as a hip-check where Sagan pulls her hips forward and kicks.

On the other hand he could be floating/flying or standing next to her, though I don't know if that makes any sense considering I don't know anything about him. He could also simply appear out of nowhere whenever needed.
 
She could always just pull him out of some fancy malletspace when she needs him. like a small black hole or something. he is a REMOTE parasite, so him being really far away unless she needs him isn't so far-fetched, right?

That's exactly what I was thinkin'. It's also why I didn't include him in my first couple of iterations of Annie's idle. He could just appear whenever she does a move that involves him. You know, like he's warping through space or whatever (any bullshit excuse could work, nobody cares).
 
Any new art done on this? I saw both animations and one Season 2 Annie concept.
 
I made a little update, I hope this one looks better with the shading.

Here's the high quality of the sprite, for now it just lacks some light effects on her hair and stuff.

It might just be the hair that's throwing me off here, but Annie there doesn't really seem to fit with the current level of shading. She stands out pretty harshly. It's probably just the hair though. (I can't shade for shit, so you should probably ignore me.)

Heh.. Maybe it's because her hair has the most highlighted color on the picture!

I was thinking the same, some adjustments have to me made, also adding some "ambience" to her (the npcs in this stage have some blue lightning effects to fit the casino, and she lacks a shadow to be displayed on the ground).

I've been doing concept work in order to produce a better idle pose while posting ideas so people can give feedback. I haven't animated anything else yet, but I think I'm going to take my last idle iteration and fully animate it along with a run animation. So yeah, I haven't done anything noteworthy over the last few weeks, but I'll be sure to update the original post once I finish the next animation :)

What about fixing Sagan in Annie's belt using its ears? Would fix the "where in the hell we put that bunny" problem

The highlights will be added in the future, I mean this was just a "prototype" too see how well she would fit as an npc.
This is still a work in progress, I even had to learn how to use AfterFX just to put her on the stage.. now I can "add" her into any stage, since my modding habilities are non existant heh.
I'm using this to exemplify that Annie could be potentially added as an npc(wishfull thinking).

Also thank you!, it will be 10 times easier with the better working files.

That's basically what I did in the most recent illustration I shared. Of course you can't tell because he's behind her, but his ears are going through her belt nonetheless.

If you're interested in doing the coloring and shading work, I can give you a better format to work with. I can selectively choose the frames, touch up certain aspects of the animation so it works better at a lower frame rate, and hand them off to you in a format that would be easier to do the coloring and shading work in. Or if you're not interested then that's fine too :P

So I've been thinking about this (probably more than I should've) and I think think that a page can be taken from SNK, and have Annie's battle stance transition into a more lax version similar to K'.

Or perhaps separate offensive/defensive stances like Vanessa Lewis.

I'm bad at explaining things, so I'll be sure to hold off burning my sketchbook until after I chicken-scratch something to better indicate what I'm getting at.

If you would like to put your dukes up you can find me Mon/Tues easier being those are my days off from around 6 a.m to 1 p.m and then from 5 p.m to roughly 10 p.m

Then Wed-Fri it's a gamble but generally after 5, that's when I get home

Sat/Sun- after 5 usually around 5:30 on rare occasions

Besides the name, you'll know you have found me by my team consisting of at least a Parasoul, Cerebella, Double, or a Squigly with Parasoul in either second or anchor

Or you could just add me and we'll know when the other is on

Let's say I fought your doppelganger or stunt double...That fight was real scary and down to the wire, the point is: "we" gave up a good fight so skullmageddon get's his tablet.

I did the whole thing again... this time with cleaner linework provided by Skullmageddon!
It's just colored frames, this time 5 frames instead of 3.

It's great and I love it, but... Look closely at the lower right leg near the end of the animation. It's a bit messy.

I just noticed that.. It will be gone by the time I put some shading and light on her.
