With JJASB out, let's discuss jojos.

I'm sure you could tell by my (New) icon until we can have icons above 50 KB again, that I love Jojo's Bizarre Adventure. This has been said numerous times before the great purge happened.
I read a lot of it while the forums were smote, made it to Part 7, about half-way done.

I rather enjoyed Part 6 in a weird way, it wasn't nearly as bad as everyone says. There were some bumps in the road and general weirdness (Heavy Weather ESPECIALLY), but it was a pretty solid part.

And Part 7 so far is really good, I love Johnny's character development, and on top of that, his relationship with Gyro. It's really well written and I can't wait to see how it ends

Still trying to make it through part 5. There are sooo many chapters.

I don't really know anything about Jojo's, can anyone tell me the best place to start (or the actual starting point of the franchise)?

Part 1: Phantom Blood. DON'T SKIP PARTS.

I'll find you, and cut you, if you do. Even though part 5 is pretty shabby, don't skip that shit.
BAsically this.
My suggestion is to watch the animated adaptations of Part 1 and 2, then read part 3 and above.
The art for Part 1 & 2's manga is...
....To put it nicely.
Less than stellar.
THe Anime refines the art and streamlines the entire storyline and makes it quick, painless, and awesome

I just started reading it myself and I'm getting near the end of Phantom Blood. It's been pretty cool so far and I'm glad I finally got off my butt to read it. I think the only thing that bugged me at first was how big Jonathan and Dio were when they were kids.

Sad news is that I that found out that I can't read it during my breaks at the school I work at. All the sites I've tried are blocked and the one that isn't blocked won't actually load the pages. I guess I'll just have to find something else to do during my two hour break...

I'm currently in the middle of Part 4 myself. I'm just waiting for non-Duwang fan-translation to finish. Only three volumes left!

Yeah, one of the many things that the anime fixed.
The anatomy gets much much better as the series goes on.

And also how Joseph and Jonathan on the 2-page title pages have magical arms that stretch randomly... WITHOUT Zoom Punch.

I'm picky as fuck and am super-elitist (In a good way? Is that possible?) about Jojo, and I'd say the anime does a damn good job adapting it! The voicework is great, too! All of my fav VAs are in it. The subs though... ugh. They fucking. Randomly add. Memes and shit.

If you think that you can improve Jojo with your shitty references, you are wrong.

Sheesh, that sounds bad. The rest of how you described it sounds great though. I might go back and watch it just to see what it's like when I have the time.

There aren't TOO many memes. I just love Jojo so much, I want to see it pure, ya know?

I'd recommend it 100% to anybody. It's got something for everyone.

Yeah, the anime adaptations of Part 1 and 2 are just.
Definitely some of the most faithful adaptations.
They trim some stuff or censor them, but in the end, it end sup a better experience without them.
You won't really miss much.

You see the Blu-rays? They don't... censor anything.

Holy crap. The wagon scene... is horrifying... I love it.

Ok so they only censor SOME in the TV Version. (And that's the version I saw since I was watching it when it was still on the air)
And even then they don't really pull any punches.
There's still decapitations, arm rippings, and lots and lots of blood.

Though one thing I've noticed is that the violence in JJBA never really goes away, it always is sorta.
There.
Also the artist seems to hate dogs, because a dog dies or gets abused in pretty much EVERY SINGLE PART.

I'm a huge fan of JJBA, and I think I'm the only person who's favorite part was part 6. Though that might change, part 8 looks pretty good.

My favorite Joestar is a hard question, though I am liking Johnny a lot for his fantastic character development, and the fact he's crippled but still does amazing things.

Also, Joseph Joestar is best Joestar. This is not debatable. :3

But Kira is, nonetheless, best character. Kira facts:
+ Impeccable taste in clothing and art
+ Likes cats
+ What a beautiful Duwang
+ Stand and Stand techniques named after songs of the greatest rock band ever
+ Enjoys the quiet life
+ Blew up that ugly little thieving munchkin
+ Always ready to give people a hand
+ munch munch
+ Has a nice watch
+ JAKUTEN WA NAI!
+ His girlfriends aren't annoying

Special mentions to Wham, Mariah and the President of the Dojya~~~n States of Valentine.

PS: Part 5 sucks Jo2uke's balls.

The worst part about Part 5 IMO is that Bruno felt more like the main character than Giorno. I also rather enjoyed Diavolo as a villain despite him being a poor man's Kira.

Bruno was amazing, really.
He's a great character, but I wish I saw more of Giorno.
Part 6 was enjoyable in it's own way, but there was definitely a lot of WTF moments.
For example.
How the everloving fuck did Dio know how to make Made in Heaven!?
How would he know he'd need:
A baby plant made from 38 sinners
To fuse with the baby
To be at a place with gravity
To be at a longitude and latitude with very specific coordinates
AND HOW DID HE EVEN KNOW IT'D WORK!?

Should All-Star Battle have it's own thread since it's out now, or should it be resigned to this thread?
In terms of board organization, it might make sense to have a separate topic in the Gaming section but I wonder if it will have the participation to warrant it? Personally, I'd suggest people might discuss it here and just see where it leads.

all 4?
:3

The worst part about Part 5 IMO is that...
The story immediately rubbed me the wrong way by starting with Koichi which might be one of my least favorite characters in the entire series.
Aesthetically, I think everyone looks ridiculous but, more importantly, what has me greatly disliking it is the premise. These are basically a bunch of criminals so why should I care about them and/or root for them? What makes Giorno & friends any better than Diavolo & co.? The whole thing is just disgustingly coated in self-righteous hypocrisy. The only characters from that part that I like are Prosciutto, Risotto and Tiziano but that isn't really saying much.
Then for the actual pacing and battles, Giorno basically WTFH4Xes his way out of every fight and Diavolo not only appears too late for people to care, the fight with him is kinda pointless because it's basically a race to the Arrow.

Anyway, I eventually "learned" that actually a lot of folks have beef with Part 5. I guess it's kind of a relief that I'm not as cantankerous as I think I am.

He's Dio! He's pretty godlike.

I'd be fine if it was a different board really, before the purge people were pretty active in it.

And even if Dio WAS Godlike, I seriously can't see how he'd fucking know or get these damn insane instructions and know they'd work.

Maybe he didn't really KNOW they'd work, but he had so much confidence in himself he convinced himself it would work. He's got pretty high self-esteem.

Ok that I'm willing to accept a little.

I completely forgot about his "Bone" though.
Why the fuck a bone of a vampire turns things into plants I don't know.
But. Whatever

For the same reasons a vampire can freeze things.

He sure is. He's the best. Really great. Super cool.
I like him. There aren't any better Jojo's at all.

So last night at Salty, someone asked me what my stand would be if I had one.

I basically instantly decided that it would be named JAM Project and so far I can think of two things it can do.

First off, I personally feel I work better in a team when it comes to games, since I like to take a support role so I thought of two skills.

1. SKILL: Basically whoever I'm looking at YELLS out their next attack before doing it. Basically something like D'arby's mind reading.

2. GONG: I needed SOMETHING offensive. So I thought of something and since I'm reading Diamond is Not Crash right now, I thought that my stand would wield like some sort of heavy pole, that when stuck against a FLAT surface, it creates sound waves that push back things. (Think Hulk's Gamma Wave except without destroying the ground.).

Oh are we making up stands now?
I've been thinking about what my Stand's name would be, mostly.
And a thought occured to me.
Video Game Songs for Stand Names

Like for example, some Stand Names that might work
Rules of Nature
Collective Consciousness
Russian Roulette
Rave On
Otherworld
(Battle on The) Big Bridge
Hazardous Materials
Gluttony Fang

Just a few names I came up with. My favorite right now is "Rules of Nature", the stand ability I envisioned was that anything it punched would then have a random "rule" imprinted on it that it'd have to follow. And only one "rule" at a time would be present on an object.
Seemed a bit too much like Rohan Kishibe's writing on the face books though

Making Stands up? I'll play along.

Name: Depeche Mode
Ability: sound control. Essentially, Depeche Mode possesses a selective "volume up-volume down" dominion over all sound-making things, organic and inorganic, in it's radius. The most common attacks are amplifying high-pitched sounds until it incapacitates the opposition and amplify static sounds to unnerve opponents.
It also has the ability to mute specific targets that are also within range; this ability is, of course, named 'Enjoy the Silence'.

(I'm not very good at these things... -_-")

That's a pretty good stand name.

I went with video game songs/bands because I don't really listen to that much real music, due to ignorance, basically.
Plus there's just a gold mine there.
Though if I had to pick a band, I'd go with Crush 40.
Because shut up

I've thought this up before. My stand would probably be

Super Massive Black H0les. Either it'd be a stand that I wear like White Album that allows me to change gravity in the area or things that I touch or a standard type of stand that could open up worm holes, small black holes.

If we're making up stands, I want a stupidly OP one.
Few more (Video Game) Stand Names, these ones mostly coming from Anarchy Reigns
Find You
Fast Lane
Unlimited Resources
Days of Old
I see someone else enjoyed the Anarchy Reigns/Max Anarchy soundtrack.
