From Steam:

Pocket Rumble is a streamlined, beginner-friendly 2D fighting game inspired by SNK's classic fighters for the Neo Geo Pocket Color. It retains all the gameplay elements that make traditional Street Fighter-style fighters great, but reduces the level of execution and memorization necessary to the bare minimum. That way experienced players can learn the game fast and be able to focus on deeper elements of strategy and mindgames, new players can learn the ins and outs of fighting games without being overwhelmed, and everyone can get their skills to a competitive level without too much grinding alone in training mode.

You can view the game on Steam <here!> and try it out.
It has a proper ranking system and GGPO netcode.

We have a Discord Server to discuss the game <here!>

Currently it's in Early Access (Alpha) with two available characters.
The planned release schedule is one character per month until all are added.

You can view the full character list <here!> on their campaign page.

The community frame data table can be found here <here!>

Happy... Rumbling!(?)

I was waiting for news and I'm happy to see this. I like the improvements. I'm definitely going to back this.

I am excited for the modding capabilities! Since I don't have 1000 dollars to spend, I will probably create a character via modding.

So excited for this game, I also hope it gets a vita version.

Oh. Thought this was a rumble pack kickstarter.

They're still doing special moves as pressing a diagonal instead of just having quarter circles, huh. Sorry but that kills it for me.

Oh man, Wyrn and Ace are in this. Amazing.

Who?

yeah I'm not a fan of this either. I would at least want to have a separate button for specials, I don't like the timed press.

Who?

Scroll down to unlockables. Wyrn is the purple haired girl, and Ace is the guy below. They're both from excellent games that I consistently recommend.

Gotcha. I hope that it's easy to make characters in their engine, they could end up having a massive roster if someone made their boss characters playable.

I was going to attempt to learn LUA so I can mod my own characters into it. I just need to now the actual size of the sprites lol

Now this looks like a cool little game. I'm gonna back that noise and do some learnin' on Lua coding.

Bonus points because they appear to actually be using 8-bit sprites and backgrounds for their "8-bit" game. So many devs, indie and otherwise, use 16-bit sprites but identify them as 8-bit because of reasons, but the folks at Cardboard Robot Games evidently know better.

hadoken antlers are a silly design choice.

Looks great tho.

This looks cool. Can't wait to see how this will develop.

Cool, I'm glad they brought this back. The PR for the first campaign was kinda minimal, which was too bad, because I could actually see the game being finished within their budget. I'm still not super hyped about their starting roster, but it's great that they've taken the time to polish their presentation since the last campaign. Having more Guest characters is a plus too.

Yeah, I also wonder why they don't just use a Specials button like Smash. Of course, it wouldn't work for their NGPC port, but I don't think that would be a big deal for most of us anyway.

So technically, every character is a charge character that only needs to input one direction. Meh.
Edit: what's stopping me from down-backing and mashing the reversal button?
Though I do like the idea of ghost AI and everything they said about training options and GGPO.

you know this might be the only way to make annie playable in a fighting game.

I like it since it harkens back to the genre's roots in Yie Ar Kung-Fu. Also, a similar system worked well in the GBA version of ST. It didn't work so hot in the Easy Operation versions of CvS2, but since this is a game with the design aesthetics and mentality of a handheld game, it should be just fine.

Why is the Vita stretch goal before the 3DS stretch goal?

Seriously, who owns a Vita?

Apparently a ton of people that go on Kickstarter own Vitas. A lady posts a campaign to build her new restaurant, and inevitably a backer asks "When's it coming to Vita?"

Looks very unappealing visually; generic designs, poor framed animations, and this cheap 8-bit fashion that needs to fucking die. Not interested

Daaaammmnnn that's some harsh words.

At least they changed Naomi's design from a generic rip off of that one guy from KOF

Thats said, June hype

Homestuck has conditioned me to assume that whenever I see something like whatever the heck's going on with June's standing cycle, something fundamentally awful is going to happen to someone who probably doesn't deserve it.

So June hype and also existential dread.

Only $2k left.

I already dropped $1k to design a boss character, so I'd really like to have the opportunity to do that.

Please support Pocket Rumble.

Looking forward to trying it out.

I really like their design philosophy and a lot of the choices they made in general.

I have a very strong feeling I will find the game itself very boring though...

I like a lot of what they've put into this game, but I just cannot get excited about it because I hate the visuals so much.

I put 15 bucks in. Glad it was funded, now I can work on my custom character for mods :P

Another vita game that I'd force my brother into playing....

well that sucks
