Evo 2015 salt

Honestly this EVO lineup excites me much more than previous ones in terms of games I will actually watch.

I really think UNIEL and Skullgirls deserve a spot though.... but its gonna take years of proving themselves to get in over very-likely-to-suck-but-from-big-publisher-$$$$-game

at the current amount of tournament going skullgirls players we're kidding ourselves if we think it deserves a spot.

Actually, now I feel kinda bad for the Injustice players. That game went from high-rolling on dat WB money, to getting dropped in favor of two unreleased titles, and KI which is technically still in development. Injustice couldn't even hold EVO center stage for as many years as MK9 and KOF13, and a lot of people seemed to prefer Injustice over MK9.

Granted, MKX looks like the more interesting game to pick this year anyway, but you gotta admit it's a pretty hard fall for that "must have" new fighting game of 2013. Looks like the price on hype is getting higher.

I think it was very sad (especially in the smash community) when I saw all the negativity toward Smash 4 announchment (before Melee was also confirmed).

starting to feel even less interested in going to evo this year. Last year was fun, but this year just doesn't feel right.

im mostly surprised at kof13 getting the axe

i thought kof was well respected, nothing against anime games but i thought xrd was enough to cover all bases

oh and tekken 7 over ttt2 which isn't even done, doesn't have a release date and to top it off will be played on arcade (and arcades aren't easy to access so the competition will be small)

I'm also genuinely curious on what's disappointing about this, they catered to everyone outside of SG and UNIEL. I can't think of anything else.

MK10 is going to be new and all the INJ players will play it.

KOF had plenty of time at EVO and plenty of hype finals but tournament numbers are incredibly low for it now and people barely watched or got hype for it last year.

Both Smash games deserve to be there more than most of the 2-D fighters, they're getting consistent numbers and a lot of exposure.

I literally can't see whats wrong with it :/ Other than UNIEL, because you just need to expect the side tournament for SG by now. Which is going to be sick thanks to Markman, you can already tell they won't make the same scheduling issue again.

I agree with this handsome man above me ^^^
Except for the bottom paragraph. As a viewer of a LOT of tournaments this comes kind of out of spite, but putting P4A in instead of BB or UNIEL seems like a very odd choice to me. At least in the states, a LOT of top Blazblue players are the top Persona players and UNIEL has been getting crazy numbers all things considered at tournaments all year. I just feel like there isn't a specific COMMUNITY that will come out in full force and make P4A a worthy spot this year. I'll bet 90% of the people that sign up for P4A WOULD have signed up for BB if it was there, but I don't know too much about the differences in the communities.

Sure it's the newer game...But UNIEL has been out in FULL FORCE this year...It's had top 3 entrants at a lot of recent majors I believe.

O I worded that wrong, SG is expected to be a side tournament game.

But the lack of UNIEL is the only thing I can think of that weakens the lineup. I understand that were ATLU$$$ BOYS but it sucks how that has to go for UNIEL :/ people actually SHOW UP for that. They don't need it to be at EVO and have a pot bonus to play, they've been playing and putting in work.

"Oh but kenin future tournaments will get entries for P4A!"

Yeah cuz its at fucking EVO with probably a pot bonus, UNIEL didn't need that and they still got 100+ at NEC.

Thats the only thing lacking though, it IS amazing though that they gave us 2 anime games. Just sucks that its not the OBVIOUS 2 everyone wanted.

at least sgfb will win evo.

Thank god, I was worried he wouldn't make it.
God bless.

Yes he will. I'm coming too as his supervisor.
Wish you the best people. I'll be here waiting to see the marvelous stream aka 10 minutes of empty chairs

Killer Instinct was probably MONEY, let's be real here.

I think the line up is really good outside of no UNIEL. Unfortunately I don't like any of the current games so EVO is kind of bleh for me outside of playing Skullgirls. Gonna prioritize going to Combo Breaker over EVO this year, but I'll try to make both.

Ummmm,
eh?
Was anyone actually expecting SG to make it, I wasn't, and aside from P4A being in over BB, this is kinda what I expected.
I still also expected SG to have a side tourney, which is clearly happening, so ¯\_(:/)_/¯, not particularly disappointed but no decision really blew me away either when's dengeki tho who organized this.

Though this'll probably be the first EVO I'll actually attend in person, so I don't know if anything could get me down about it.

Not sure about this lineup, but yeah I miss UNIEL/BB and KOF.

I don't think KI is mature enough to be in a major, but w/e it feels like there's cash behind it much like MKX and Tekken 7

I already knew SG wasn't in. I just don't think it'll be a good year to partake the event this time... That and the fact my stick's starting to short out on me is another huge downer. If I did go, I wouldn't even remotely have a stick this time.. but if I get a stick first, I wouldn't beable to go.. So it's a toss up of an issue for me =\

I think Persona is a joke of a game and UNIEL is leagues above it but whatever. Tekken 7 being in there bothers me more then anything but $$$$$$$$$$$$$$ makes the world go round.

Good luck to you all!

How does one even prepare for a tournament with an unreleased game? MKX people have about 3 months between release and EVO, but what about Tekken 7? I'd better sail to Japan for the March 2015 arcade release to practice dominating the tourney as Lucky Chloe.

@Skullgirls let's make solid plans early this year. We'll be in touch once we finalize our presence at EVO. Are you guys in? :)

Apparently the WC should be getting cabinets or something somewhere, I don't know.

Still dumb.

I can believe that UNIEL didn't make the cut.
I can believe that Persona got in as the anime game of the moment.

Mad as fuck, but I can understand how it could happen.

I cannot believe MKX and Killer Instinct got in on their own legitimacy.
I cannot believe BlazBlue didn't get in after how good it was last year.

Good on Markman for getting right in there with the side tournament, that seems like a great way to make up for last year and the Tekken thing.

where are all going uniel didn't make it, uniel is dead. I spent 5 hours trying to get a match on ranked and no one. I love the game i really do but let's be real here.

Were obviously referring to its consistent and strong numbers at offline events in comparison to P4A, its not really a competition on whats getting better entrants.

UNIEL sucks if you want to play online. Uniel sucks if you want to play at locals
especially here in NY.

That being said 2 majors here have had rly good numbers for it. idk how UNIEL does in general though. Side tourney boys

UNIEL is not even released yet in NA and EU. Most people just prefer Player Matches.

Huh so I don't know if I should aim to go to Combo Breaker or EVO. I do sort of like EVO still with all the other games and such, but now that others are suggesting for our community to aim at CB I might have to weigh my options. Though I still wager more will attend EVO, guess we'll see as the days roll by. Last I checked, CB's "yes" category was still in the single digits.

I'm no stranger to cynicism, but really.

@all the "did you really expect SG to be main game wow wow" people

People probably didn't expect it, but they express their disappointment/sadness because they had their hopes and dreams. And that's good, we should be glad that they did, not belittle it. I for one definitely prefer that over "SG is dead" self-fulfilling prophecy threads.

UNIEL hasn't been released in NA and EU so it being side tournament is expected. It still blew Persona out of the water at NEC though. Shit, it took Melty five years to hit 120 people at EVOLUTION but it took UNIEL five months to pass that number at NEC.

Oh well. as long as SG is side game i really hope people show up again. It was fucking awesome last year and theres no reason why it shouldnt be awesome again this year. make it the biggest side game again if we have too... on that note Combo Breaker is a big alternate option as well. I would go there if i could. maybe next year.
