Thoughts:

-Was hoping for something that emphasized the action a bit more, maybe returning to the classicvania style a bit, but eh still looks fun.
-New girl is a cutie. Hope that Ayame Kojima art book gets funded, would love to see her in that style.
-Crafting ick. Again, hoping improved combat mechanics take center stage here instead of more rpg elements (SOTN and the Ds games already had more than enough imo).
-ANIME DRACULA might seem a bit wack at first, but if you've played CV: Rondo of Blood, you'll realize he's pretty toned down compared to that games pretty boy dark lord. I like the crystal/rose skin motif too.
-INTI CREATES!!!! These guys know 2d action. With them on board, I can have faith in this.
-Awwww yeah Michiru Yamane.

All and all, I'm sure it'll be a fun romp with the usual awesome gothic aesthetic. I doubt it'll replace Rogue Legacy for me, but I'm sure it'll be worth the money and a good time. Especially with Inti Creates on board.

Oh man, it's already at 800k. That was fast.

Also my one wish for this game above all else:

Please let us attack while moving on the ground. No more bunny hop combat pls.

Already? It was at 500k when I got linked to it a couple hours ago. Geeze

This. And let us dash forward and backward like in Harmony of Dissonance.

I was sold by Yamane, I love her music so much, now I need to replay SOTN

I already replayed SotN a few months ago.

I'm replaying Curse of Darkness, which I think has some of her best music. Also Crispin Freeman as the best pokemon trainer.

it got over 1million dollars so far, jfc im so excited, apparently the game will be in 2.5D so idk how I feel about that

I hope bad voice acting option becomes a stretch goal or something to reference SOTN

2.5d could be pretty interesting. Add (half) a new dimension to the exploration.

Bad voice acting mode would be so great.

just get Michael Gough to voice everyone
feat. David Hayter as a cat

I just hope we get an equivalent of Soma in this new venture.
cuz you all know how I love them reformed villain tropes.

Gebel will totally not be main villain, im calling it now

I think Gebel will be Miriam's love interest tbh

It's cool that they went with a female protagonist. I was kinda hoping though, that if they went that route, Igarashi would make up for past mistakes and design her as an homage to Sonia Belmont. Oh well, I guess that was just never meant to be.

Anyway, the project looks like it has promise. Hopefully seeing so many cool 2D games on the livestreams might inspire Iga to go with a handpainted or pixel art look for his game. I think paintings in motion are always great with the gothic style, but in any case, I'm looking forward to seeing the real in-game screenshots.

I'm also kinda hoping they might do a Digital Artbook, or at least an All-digital tier. I'm actually on the fence for which rewards to go with, because those physical items always take so long to ship, but I don't feel like I need two copies of the game either. Kinda weird how they set this up, really.

ok so the more I look at it I hate Miriam's design from the waist down, like it was cool and unique at first but after the waist it looked like they really stopped trying and slapped on a skirt and bloomers ehh

The really ironic thing is, Iga axed Sonia because in one of Legend's endings it was implied that Alucard was the father of Trevor Belmont, and he thought that having the Belmonts having any relation to the Dark Lord was just wrong.

Then comes Lord of Shadows...

Eh, looks fine to me. Her face, top, and the rose skin pattern is fucking gorgeous, and that's where the eye is really drawn. The bloomers are fine, it's just a decent gothic style.

that stained glass shit is the hypest thing about the game so far for me
it just looks nice

I just thought it was the coolest thing that the first Belmont to whoop Vlad's butt was a woman, but then years later, *poof* they just wrote her off. Simon and Richter got retellings of their stories, so why didn't Iga just do the same thing for Legends to remove the annoying parts? I guess Pink Simon was just too much of a priority at the time (and yeah, Lords of Shadow later on).

But that's just water under the bridge now. Miriam's a fresh start, and I like that her design brings just a teeny bit of that Shanoa flare. Hopefully they keep the story interesting, and find creative ways to unravel the plot than with just the usual cutscenes. I'll admit, it's going to take a lot for me to consider Gebel a worthwhile villain, but I want to see what they can do with him.

Yeah, she definitely seems a successor to Shanoa, at least aesthetically. Gebel could be fairly interesting. As a spiritual successor to Dracula, he can probably bring a lot of the same things that were cool about The Count without being considered plagiarism, but at the same time his status as a new character could allow them to play with and break our expectations about him a bit.

Actually, I really like the Igavania's in terms of story/character presentation. They give just enough dialogue to flesh out the characters for players who are interested, but not so much that players who don't play these kind of games for the story won't be inundated with it. In fact, I must admit, Iga's games have consistently memorable characters. Alucard, Soma, Shanoa, Albus, Julius, etc. all bring some interesting stuff to the table. I feel like Iga really has a knack for nailing the gothic atmosphere too.

You also have to remember they could only bring back Dracula so many times, I think the "Comes back every 100 years" sadly got used in every single possible time period it could have.
but then again also "lol konami"

I'm just more hoping the monsters in Bloodstained will continue to have some dumb references to music, I still fondly remember how there was just Leatherface in one of the DS Games.

Speed Run Mode? Sounds interesting. I'm not really into speed running, I prefer the arcade style 1cc experience or a score chase, but it would be a nice way to add some tension and depth to the game. Also curious how a speed run "mode" would differ from just regularly speed running the game? Couldn't be just a timer added. Limited saves and items? Re-arranged castle layout? Different weapon balance?

2 mil for the boss rush mode though? That shouldn't even cost money. How hard is it to just program a string of boss rooms together? Oh well. Maybe that's just a filler stretch goal. I wonder what they might be planning after that. Online Co-Op would be nice.

when's the bottle of Jack for David Hayter goal?
that's when you know they're really pulling out all the stops.

when's the "give david hayter vocal reconstruction surgery" goal so that he can return to being a normal person

Couldn't be just a timer added.
It most certainly could be. [edit] Or a timer + high score table. Aim for the lowest amount of work which gives it a name that'll get people excited.

This KS...no gameplay, no budget breakdown, no schedule, and already 90% externally funded by entities who will be expecting to make their money back.
Inti Creates most certainly is a negative for me now, too. 2.5D and Unreal engine means 3D models, and Mighty #9 is pretty disappointing in that regard. With that much money there's really no excuse.

They're the same guys behind Mighty nº9

Don't misunderstand me, i love their work (specially MMZ), but they have some dirty spots in the carreer

Inti Creates is the reason I'm hesitant to support this. Mighty Number 9 seems so bad.

just don't make it look worse than Maverick Hunter X on the PSP.

MN.09 isn't even out yet. From what I've last heard from people who got hands on with it, it seemed like it was shaping up to be a good game. Keiji's money gobbling is hilarious, yes. But if it turns out to be the decent Mega Man clone people were begging to have, than I don't see reason to complain.

I've been a long time fan of Inti after the Mega Man Zero games.

Not a lot of developers are without dirty spots, even the good ones.

It's a little bit much, yes. Honestly though, I'm not really expecting a magnum opus. The 3 ds Metroidvania's were decent fun but nothing world breaking. I expect pretty much the same thing: A decent action adventure romp with a Michiru Yamane ost and the same smooth controls and mechanics cloned over from the Cv Metroidvania's. It's a hard thing to screw up IMO, especially when it's been done to death.

Right now the rewards are marked for March 2017 delivery, so I'm assuming the production time is going to be fairly similar to Mighty No. 9's. Yeah, they're vague on some details, but this campaign is still far from being another Project Phoenix.

Regarding visuals, Iga felt pretty adamant about his 2.5D approach at the beginning of the livestream, but he also seemed surprisingly in the dark about most of the games they played during the show. I hope that seeing games like Ori and Shovel Knight might have opened his eyes a bit to what other developers had been finding success with aesthetically, and that he didn't need to feel limited to 2.5D in order to have an equally successful product. While he's obviously locked into Unreal Engine at this point, maybe the success of the KS might encourage him to try some things he otherwise thought were impractical. I gotta believe there's still a chance this won't end up just looking like Mighty No. 9 + Goth, but we'll have to see.

I am curious what's going on with IntiCreates though. Gunvolt showed that they still have their 2D talent on deck, so how did they end up becoming the 2.5D factory? I'm concerned that since these guys are still kinda wired to the console market (Igarashi and Inafune included), that they're still stuck in that old pervasive mindset that polygons are the "progressive" medium for major release titles. I hope Inti quits dicking around on their next project and finally brings us some more 2D sprites!

I'm actually kind of hoping for a Klonoa: Door to Phatomile style set up: main character 2d sprite and a few enemies, with 3d environments/world and a few 3d enemies and bosses. Would be a decent compromise.

Inti Creates is the reason I'm hesitant to support this. Mighty Number 9 seems so bad.
It's actually great. Have you played it?

I've seen gameplay and haven't been impressed. The level design is bland to me. That's personal opinion, though.

The way the stretch goals work and the achievement system seem kind of gross to me, I would really like a new Castlevania game but the way this Kickstarter is set up makes me want to stay away for now. Does anyone else feel this way?

For clarification I'm referring mainly to the rate hikes in both the funding itself and the achievement system, suddenly the next goal instead of being 100K or whatever is now 250K but is "One more boss", "Speedrun mode" (which is what? a timer and you can skip cutscenes?) and then we have most of the stretch goals locked away by these community achievements, which sounds fine on a base level, spread awareness which will bring more funding and more stuff for funding will appear, but then you notice the achievements also have rate hikes like 40,000 Twitter followers, etc. and even if you get a bunch you've got to go through so many other goals to even find out what more funding could do.

I'm fine with a "Show support, help expand" Kickstarter, but this after the initial push just seems... in poor taste. I mean, I'm glad it got funded, I'm glad certain goals such as co-op were there and were filled, but it seems like there isn't much of a point from here on out, unless those weekly challenges add up pretty quick I have my doubts about seeing the "dungeon" level. And I'm not familiar with the studio, so putting down a full price pre-order just for a weapon, a boss and a box seems kind of silly when there is nothing to base my faith on.

Wow, Bloodstained is doing well. It's already passed the $1,850,000 mark. I wouldn't be surprised if it hits 2 million before the day is out.

Speaking of 'vanias, I've never really gotten into the series before, but for some reason, Bloodstained just makes me want to go grab one or two of the Metroidvanias and blaze through them. Is anyone else here like that?

Yeah. I need t finish Lament of Innocence and start up SoTN. REally wanna start up on that again
