Ask some simple questions, talk about some general strats and matchups, show off your color coordinate Beo team, trash talk, etc.

well i can't seem to figure out how to get in with Beo, i know j.:LK: and j.:MK: are good because they're hitboxes last until you hit the ground but i can't seem to how to convert from hitting an airborne opponent or how to get a good mixup if it's blocked because people tend to jump around a lot.

You need to cancel your air-to-air into Blitzer to convert.

Well we don't have any matchup thread so I'll ask here.

How are people dealing with Valentine and Fukua. These are 2 matchups I'm struggling with to no end, I'm really not sure how to deal with that space in the air on the other side of the screen at all. Throwing the chair away in these matchups just seems like a really bad idea.

crosses/fireballs from up there are giving me all kinds of trouble.

I want advice against Val in particular, I've had some level of success with full screen blitzering Fukua when she goes to HP fireball, but that just doesn't work against Val and her air options.

Glad this topic's been created so something besides combos can be discussed. I wish I'd been researching how to use this character since he hit Beta, but I'm new to him on PS3, and trying to get neutral down. Been looking on YouTube for a high-level player to see what to go for, but didn't find anything til someone mentioned Dekillsage. Maybe everyone has already watched it, or prefer other videos, but I figured I'd start with something.

Watch the Salty archives on twitch.tv/ugclive and look for Bang Camaro matches.

Thanks, looked it up on YouTube, and figured I'd post since Tomo asked about the Val matchup. Starts at 9:30.

I didn't really find anything useful in that particular set, Bang lost with Beo pretty convincingly and the game he did manage the comeback in, was due to a few instances of disrespect and not winning neutral.

SomePerson also wasn't making any use of dead cross, although he was sitting around in that area I'm having trouble threatening.

Anyone else having any matchup issues or finding this space hard to threaten? Or is there something you are doing that is making this not an issue for you.

Normal jump and walk. Unless Val has double butt she can't keep you over there. Slow down and pay attention to the pattern.

Why doesn't anyone end combos with M chair toss? It hits overhead on the way down so you can get a 50/50 and it can beat a decent amount of reversals. Beo does high damage at max undizzy so it's not like you're missing out on good damage.

I don't do it because I don't know a combo that ends with it. Wonder how it'd work... I've had my hands full memorizing one or two combos (usually drop online). Can't speak for everyone else though.

so what's beo's options after cathing an assist does he have a decent infinite for them or not?
cause best I found with messing around was a really awkward jump loop

if you toss the chair at any point of your combo when the're standing, you'll get the 50/50

Just do something into cr.hp, jump, delay j.hk and repeat

OK, sounds good. Did some in-depth training with Beowulf today, and I'll give it a shot next chance I get.

What assists are people finding useful behind Beowulf?

Anything with range really. I like Robo's lasers 'cause then I can shut down zoners without getting rid of The Hurting or resorting to Wulf Blitzer.

I think Squigly's cremation assist is amazing. Whenever I get to canis major, I call for cremation and cross over j.lk or j.hp or jump then call for assist. Seems kind of dirty.

Edit: Theres also the option of faking the j.lk or j.hp by canceling it to wulf blitzer and let cremation hit low.

I was thinking whether Hurting Hurl (M) would be a better idea than the heavy version. In midscreen, the medium version seems to be a good way to keep people away from crossing over, but neither the first or second hit has a knockdown effect. The heavy version in mid screen is a fullscreen over head or a keep away tool. In the corner they are pretty much the same besides the knockdown effect.

I'm leaning towards the medium version.

Hi does someone know whether it's intended that Beo can be hit out of chair pickup recovery (I thought it was just a cosmetic pickup thing?) and that it doesn't cause a CH when that happens (?)

Okay I'm stumped. How does Beowulf's 360 command grab work? I know it has something to do with hype, linkers, and finishers.. but past that I'm confused.

Did you play the Beowulf tutorial?

@Vadsamoht

Could you unlock and sticky the matchup thread please :)

How is Hype working in detail?

I now it's getting changed, but what is it doing now?

Mike created a google doc for all of the changes
Basically, you can now spend hype for more things and you get hype easier and faster.
You can do EX throws
EX Canis press gets a long hard knockdown(It now gives little advantage if it is not EX)
EX side throw picks the opponent back up(Basically damage and side switching for hype)
EX forward k throw picks the opponent back up(Basically damage and positioning for hype)
EX grendel killer makes the opponent bounce, allowing for combos after
Chair dance is different. It now launches the opponent away instead of giving hard knockdown. EX version has a freezing effect like Painwheel's l stinger and also wall sticks.
You can also cancel your armored normals into chair pickup for hype.
You can spend 2 hype levels to pick up after the 3 wolf moon assault.
Building hype has been made easier. Taunt gives 3 levels and holding s.lp gives hype faster. Also landing on chair gives hype. Doing a finisher without any hype gives a level. You cannot build hype through finishers if you already used an EX grab.
There are also a decent amount of nerfs that go along with this to compensate for the extra stuff he got.

Recently picked up Beowulf seriously and I gotta say

Chair-Less Beowulf is pretty fun! Like Reeeeeeally fun! ◠‿◠)

From my time fighting peeps who main the man, I was completely
convinced the guy was 100% tied to his chair-based moves and chair cancels.
Though after actually spending a sec with the guy I have to ask:

Why don't more people run a Chair-less Beowulf?

Sure without the chair he loses a bunch of long-range poking options and
that monstrous j.HP. But still, Without the chair, he's a faster more mobile
version of BigBand or Double ╹‿╹)
