Mother_-_Earthbound_logo.jpg

Since I did not see a thread for one of the RPG's that I and the others enjoyed, I decided to create one. The Earthbound/Mother series is very unique in its own way. One minute, you are battling crazy enemies and encounter strange happenings. The next, you find something darker or more mysterious than the series lets on. For me, I enjoy each game in the series. Also, have you guys heard about Mother 4? It's a game being developed by fans. http://www.mother4game.com/

Mother was is a unique Rpg series, I have never played by I did enjoy the play though I watched of it. It was Chuggacon roy's playthrough of it that I watched.

I have only seen the earthbound playthrough since I am getting through the mother 3 playthrough.

Also, Holy Crap mother 4 , holy crap that is cool.

I have never played Earthbound/Mother. But always wanted.

I played all three games and they have their own charm to them.
  • Mother 1 was difficult as you go through since the enemies are buffed to a degree, but I still find it enjoyable since you can go to Magicant anytime for the duration to level your party up or whatever.
  • Mother 2/Earthbound was when the series grew in terms of gameplay. Those level-ups with major increase to the stats really give me a great feeling. The story was nice since there are themes like jealousy, the corruption, and determination.
  • Mother 3 was excellent in the story department since you experience the events through different people's perspectives as time passes. There are heartrending moments, suspense, and action all around.

I apologize for double posting, but here's some news: Mother 4 has been postponed until 2015. But here are some screenshots and backgrounds:

They said that completing it in June is not a reasonable time frame with the amount they have done. On the bright side of things, they have recently allowed people to apply to help work on development and there are plenty of people doing that.

The backgrounds look very intriguing and the enemies still have the good ol' Mother/Earthbound charm as well as some added stuff (Modern Mind's design looks so beautiful with the stars). I consider it strange how just talking to enemies can work for Floyd, but since this series is known for being strange (which would be an understatement), I say it's cool. For Travis, I imagine him being an Average Joe could put him at odds with his family since they want him to be something more. After the events of Mother 3, I wonder how dark the story will be.

So...Earthbound Beginnings. Huh

I am glad that Earthbound Beginnings was on the Virtual Console. Anyway, here is the Mother 4 Attract Mode.

Is there any way I can play Earthbound and Mother 3 on my phone?

Because when my laptop died so did the save files to both those games, and never beaten either of them.

Oh yeah and Earthbound beginnings looks cool.

But what's this Mother 4 attract mode? Is it EBB but plays more in the fashion of Mother 3?

:O I played Mother 3 and Earthbound and loved them though I can't really recall what they were about. Coming of age or something? I'm looking forward to play Mother 4.

I have played and finished all 3 mother games a while now (finished 3 somewhere in spring). Here's my opinion on them.

1: Very old game. But also enjoyable. I have played a lot of NES games but no RPG ones. Soo this was a fun experiance. The game felt very stiffy, but hey, it's old soo I can take that. My biggest problem with this game is the grinding. Good god. Took me almost 20 times just to rescue that girl near at the cementary at the beggining at the game. And then, we had that zoo right after it. Only luck made me finish that one realtively fast. I don't really like to use it but walkthroughs (reading of course) have helped me save lots of hours. Also, there were many PSI powers that was really useless and never touched again. It's a memorial experiance, especially when closing to the ending. Though it will probably take a long time to revisit this game again, or never. I dunno. I did feel satisfied ones I finished the game. And Polyhanna (NES version) will always play in my head when I think about the mother serie.

2, Earthbound: A very speciall RPG. It's not your typicall middle ages "Sword n Sorcery" RPG game. You play a around 10 year old boy in modern society. You can really feel the atmosfear of the game burning your eyes already at the beggining of the game. It has really no connection with the first game except the phone with your dad, also Giygas that you see before you even start with the game (his name that is). I really like the game but can not put my finger on it and say why. It's very memorial however. You start in Onett, then you visit Twoson, Threed and Fourside. This is about the first half of the game and it's REALLY slow, and not much stick to my head except some of the surrealism. Soo I had mixed feeling first. However, it gets much better. The story however feel kinda weak. "Giygas must be stopped and you, only you and 3 companions that will come on your journey can stop him". Still, very enjoyable. Will probably visit it again. And how much music did this game have? I don't think any other SNES game has half of this games music tracks.

3: I kinda feel for saying Mother 2/Earthbound is the "New hope" version in this serie and Mother 3 is the "Empire strikes back" version. If that makes any sense, dunno what Mother 1 should be. Anyway, why isn't this game realesed here in west yet? This game screams gold. It's perfect, I think. The only complain I have with it is the boring chapter 3, and I don't know if I feel satisfied with THAT ENDING. Mother 3 basically took what earthbound was lacking and made them better.

These updates are just wonderful. The one with backgrounds really interested me with the way that math is being used, for example. I wonder what will the father be doing since it's implied that something could happen later.

Those Video Drugs look just as good as the real games.

I like mother, mother are good entertainment video.

Getting Mother 3 cravings, starting to want to play it due to all the Undertale Hype.
I COULD emulate it, but I have an exceptionally strong moral compass.
I could also watch a playthrough but...

I dunno, maybe I could wait for that pie in the sky dream of a Wii U release?
What you guys think I should do?

Play it immediately, Nintendo is never making a localization.
You could purchase a flash cart and make it look like an "official" game cart, but you'd need to own a GBA if you don't have one.
You aren't supporting anyone either way, but it would be pretty neat playing on actual hardware as opposed to an emulator.

I actually do own a GBA still, a classic one at that.
Got no idea how to do any of that high end illegal rom shit though.

Mother 3 VC isn't impossible, Reggie has never said "never", it's just constantly been avoided and not said, and I think since Earthbound Origins is a reality, Mother 3 is a tad more likely than before

In the middle of my Earthbound play through. Making my way through the mines fighting Guardian Moles!

Am I near the end? this game seems so long due to the exploration. After this I will move on to Mother 3.

Mother 3 announced for Wii U eShop in JAPAN. Damn. Hopefully we eventually, FINALLY get it over here.

Mother 3 seemed hard for me. q_q
Seriously, it took me like 10+ tries to defeat those three purple guys (I can't remember their names) in Tanetane Island. And some bosses (like that bass in Club Titiboo) made me leave the game several times. D:
