Persona 4 Arena Ultimax

So fake then? Honestly if Ultimax was gonna get more DlC characters or release another version then Makoto would logically have high priority to become playable especially since it would tie in nicely with the recent P3 films.

Correct! It's simply Yu's sprite with the head turned over. And well, edited of course. The text is also when Yu ran into the fake Adachi in arcade.

Notice he's also using a Katana.
If Makoto was using a sword wouldn't he use a Broadsword or something?

He possibly would! I found it funny in Arena how Yu fights more how Minato would in the game, with all his one handed swings. Im pretty sure Yu used a two handed sword in 4

Yu actually does have several two-handed sword based attacks.

I guess they opted for Yu to have a one-hand idle as opposed to his original two-hand for the sake of rule of cool.

P4AU is still my fav game, and I usually spend the most time on it on weekends. The randomness of Junes is hit or miss, though PSN friends, gFAQs, and dustloop have some people that I enjoy playing. Plus going through Golden Arena with my brother with all the cast & all the navigators is fun for the unique dialogue, gameplay, etc. Trying to get the player level to 50 for Marie narrator, and a d.blue color card (if it ever happens).

If anyone still plays & is looking for an intermediate person on weekends for matches, let me know. Thanks!

As stoked as I am for 2.0, it is a good call imo.

either way my hopes for Sho ruling the Persona Evo scene haven't gone down a bit.

With shadow characters running the show in 2.0 I'm OK with this. Also as someone still learning the game its nice to not have to worry abouty character changing right before evo

Is shadow doing really well? I've not heard anything.

It's really only Shadow Mits and Shadow Chie that have the common tendency to be on top of JPN people's tier list. Shadows overall got a mechanics overhaul which arguably makes them more competitively viable. Some Shadows like Shadow Junpei apparently makes normal Junpei obsolete. Other notable things about the rebalance was characters that were higher up got noticeably nerf [Narukami, Yosuke, Teddie, etc] and some of the lower/mid characters got noticeable buffs [Labrys, Yukiko, etc].

Yeah Westerners playing this game wouldn't be able to play the new rebalance at equal ground with the JPN players when Evo happens because there are too many big changes in the new build. Which is gonna suck for any JPN players coming to Evo that would have to play an obsolete build.

Junpei? OBSOLETE?! HOW DARE YOU! I care not what these shadows may have in them, but my Junpei will forever be my main.

Labrys got buffs? sweet.

>Labrys Buffs
>Yukiko Buffs

Nobody ever talks about the Kanji buffs. ;w;
Seriously, losing Fatal on J.C is nothing for all the stuff he's getting. And not to mention J.C itself had it's startup and recovery reduced. But being able to link S.B into S.C is gonna be stupid. Really stupid. Kanji's combos are gonna get better for sure.

Even Shadow Kanji gets a random buff he doesn't want or need.

Meanwhile Akihiko cries in a corner over the nerfs he didn't deserve. I have no idea about their reasoning for that.

Yeah, but, wasn't Labrys the worst character for a while? I'm so glad she got some buffs. Like, I want to have three mains plus Yu, and I've always like Labrys.

I'm really excited for the Labrys buffs, considering she's one of my three mains.
Sadly, they don't make up for how Yosuke was absolutely butchered. I wouldn't be surprised if he was low mid tier now.

He gets insane damage off almost any confirm, can be done off stupidly long hitstun, fast moves that are completely safe and positive, AND his mobility is unparalleled.

Aaand it's idiotic.

Ah sweet Labrys buffs. :D She's my main behind Junpei and Elizabeth. How's Elizabeth fairing with the changes?

another question is:

are the Shos still good after the patch?

yah the deviant art villain duo are still good

Cool, the topic's active again. I did my first P4AU tournament (online) last weekend, and... tied for last place. XD
Got into Junes lobby to win & lose some... still trying to get the last of the icons (3000 P$ ones take some time).
And reach d.blue color card. (So hard to find l.blues, then win consistently). If anyone else plays this weekends, let me know.

Anyone know when the patch/update that's in the arcades is going to hit here?

No date or confirmation of a console patch has been given yet. Probably won't hear anything one way or another until at least around Evo

I would if I could, but I currently can't. May be a while before I can get the chance to play again, to boot.

I do every so often. Would help if this game got a current gen port with expansion. The console game still doesn't have all the arcade stuff.

I've been playing it a lot recently as part of my research. Ultimax is quite unique in some areas compared to most other fighters and its a good comparison tool in some areas for how to do things differently while still being functional. But you probably won't see me on as I've moved on to Melty Blood, but if you ever want a match, I'd be happy to oblige.

I need to get back to playing it, I played Arcade Mode 3 times, started story mode, then stopped it.
That was last year.
Ah, I really enjoyed Arcade & Story. Maybe just ease into some more Arcade endings, then work up to tackling Story in pieces. There's a way to read the text on a black background which really helps after you've seen images.

I've been playing most weekends & managed to get a yellow card recently. Been trying to keep up in this & Skullgirls for vs.
Love the music in this game, and the navigators adding to the match experience. Also, taking charatcres through G.Arena courses & hearing what all the navis say is fun to me. I'll try sending PSN invites this weekend to people in this topic if that's cool.

A few months ago, out of sheer hatred and spite of the "beat all four Risky difficulty Score Attack sets with one/two characters to unlock an otherwise paid DLC navigator" business model, I unlocked Naoto and Yu's navs manually.

And boy did it take quite a bit of spite to pull it off; Labrys has a 100% damage Weavers' Art: Beast, Koromaru has permanent invincibility, all of Yukari's arrows get the Garu orb buff, and Aigis... <shivers>

Hi. does anyone here still play this game?

I've gone through and checked online player bases a few times and it looks like the following:

No one is playing UNIEL.

~10-15 players on P4AU.

~60-100 players on both Xrd and BB.

None of this includes ranked as that's harder to track, but ranked also has always been the least popular mode in at least P4AU, GG, and BB.

Don't know the state of UNIEL netplay since I haven't played online in forever but if you're having trouble finding matches in UNIEL, there's a skype group that's usually pretty active that you can try.

I'm starting to wonder if they even have any plans of bringing 2.0 to the west.

Well my tag is dreamepitaph and i want to get some games in with anyone. Trying to gear up for NEC and learn chie. Tho i believe 2.0 can accessed by some means right?
Thats your handle for psn? mine is xDarkGunx feel free to add me. I'm usually around quite often online.

Whoa, nice! I couldn't even get halfway through a course with my main/subs. I eventually got all the navis w/a PSN gift card & paid for some since I buy so few games/DLC in a typical year.

As far as 2.0 being released... well, there's always hope & near-endless waiting. 0.0

considering how much of a money maker that game is, and considering the minor work it will take to localize it, i dont see why not. games on arcade have an exclusivity period so we have to wait until it is up henny
