Some improvement for sure.

The animations are still a bit strange, but that is ok.

Move commands and the EX moves are back

Kula, Kyo, Iori, Chang, Andy, and Leona Are playable at demo.

50 fighters confirmed just announced from PSX.

Good lord, if only they had waited and showed this trailer first! Looks sooo good right now (gameplay looks snappy and the character models will be solid in the end if the Kyo and Iori intro is any indication). Probably the only good thing that came of them revealing it early and getting all the hate is that they're in Desperation Mode now. Respect and high fives for bringing Angel back, finally. You can tell the team knows KoF well; looking at Iori, Ralf and Kula's DMs was pretty hype for me and Kyo got even more voice work for his Orochinagi! <3 This is gonna' be a good one. ^_^

Graphics look about the same as last trailer, but the game play is looking good. Anyone been giving thoughts for the hands-on? If it plays as decent as it looks, we might have a game here.

It's recorded for people who miss the stream.

Okay yeah that's all fine and dandy when's K' but this is not O... K'.

I've held this position from the start, if the game plays well, I don't give a shit how much the graphics suck.
But man, that's bad.

On the flipside, we may finally have the first good ReBoot game on our hands.

These character renders look great. Why can't these be the actual models.

Yeah you can definitely tell the difference
I hope those renders are going to be the final product models
The last thing the characters need are Tekken Tag Tournament 2 faces

Yeah, hopefully this is what the team is actually aiming for. However, if they're able to deliver on the 50 character roster in the initial release, I'm satisfied with the level of detail that Kyo is currently at if it's applied to all characters.

man, TTT2 faces are way better looking than those.

Some Technical stuff from Professor of MMCafe

KOF14, Retro now.

The trailer is an odd mix of fair and bad renderings!
So the PlayStation Experience event is happening in California right now, and a demo featuring all the characters up to trailer 3 + Kula are playable.

- KOF14 will have a mashable easy-combo system. Like Persona 4 or Undernight InBirth, the game lets you do a combo by just mashing one button (the weak punch button). Apparently there's some attacks that are exclusive to this system, and likewise to Persona and undernight, it'll even do a super at the end if you have enough meter.
- Jumps in general are slower, which is probably good for new players but will certainly get complaints from old schoolers.
- The combo-heavy HD system from KOF13 has been replaced with "Max Mode" from the past series.
- Basically when you have 1 bar of meter, you can go into Max mode with two button presses, and you can do infinite EX specials for a limited time. (EX specials are more powerful versions of special attacks, fireballs, uppercuts and whatnot)
- You can only do EX specials during Max mode, which is a pretty big difference from KOF13 or even SF4/5.
- There's the "Just defense" system from Garou:Mark of the Wolves where you get some advantage compared to blocking normally, which you can do by blocking at the same time when an attack is coming your way.
- There's guard cancel evasion/rolling but there may not be guard cancel CD/thrust. This could be the reason why Just defense is in the game. (Personally I'd much rather prefer the contemporary guard cancel thrust since it can be used for offense as well as defence.)

... The Neogeo versions of Last Blade 2 and KOF2000 are coming to PS4 as well, which is kind of an odd decision.

Some Technical stuff from Professor of MMCafe

Professor also listed some bits from that Famitsu interview:

- The Game's development is about 70% complete.
- Aside from supers, there's also MAX supers and Climax supers. Supers will automatically turn into MAX supers when you're in MAX mode.
- Producer Oda: "Climax supers are the biggest moves in the game and they take 3 bars. They're like the NeoMax supers from KOF13 but since not all the characters had it in the game, we'd decided to add it to everyone for KOF14" (Note: Everyone actually had it in KOF13. The producer probably didn't play the game that much)
- There's no Drive meter this time around, only a power meter. The devs decided to simplify things. EX specials can only be done during MAX mode which takes a bar of meter to activate.
- Producer Oda: KOF13 was a so-called combo game because of the drive cancel and EX special systems. There were people that liked it, but also those who didn't. This time, we decided to take a step somewhere inbetween those two kinds of players.
- Because a lot of people play at home on console nowadays and there's a wide range of players, the devs want to keep the controls simple but the game to have depth so you can keep playing and make new discoveries.
- The CD attack/thrust system now makes the opponent hit the wall and crumple for followup attacks.
- The devs don't want to add in too many new systems because KOF has enough as it is. They want to keep tuning/tweaking stuff though

While I'm glad to see Angel's sexy self back, I still need to see the true sexy to be fully onboard with this game

You've got the right idea m8; I respect your refined tastes. ;) However, that roster list from a little while back is starting to look pretty legit right now and I'm not sure where Vanessa would fit in. Going by the list, her teammate Ramon is slotted to be with Angel and Tizoc this time around, plus Seth and Blue Mary are nowhere in sight, once again. :(

They are aware of it!

N. Kuroki. (One of the staff members came to SNK with Oda.)

I know that this is more a general KoF14 hype/hate thread, but I would feel remiss if I didn't mention the (frankly rediculos) Neo Geo 25th anniversary bundle. If you've wanted to try and get into old-school SNK games, then there has never been a better. There's unfortunately no built in online for the direct download games, but from my understanding of the situation, the games are basically just ROMs with included emilators, so if you use Fightcade then you can use that instead.

I think my biggest disappointment, which probably EVERY KoF fan shares about icky 14 being hard to look at,
is the concept that there may no longer be 2D sprite KoF games :(

Personally I've always found sprite work and their animations to feel " clean ", be absolutely beautiful,
and to have more personality in design than 3D.

Sprites like those in SF : Third Strike ( Hugo's hair omg <33 ) and old KoF are awe inspiring.
Heck..., most of us here love Skullgirls' sprites right ? :p

Now don't get me wrong, some 3D work can be very pretty too, but I still feel that even OLD KoF games like 94 > 98, other Fighters, and even other Genres in 2D hold up better than 2015 > 2016 even including SF5 ( personal opinions are personal opinions obviously ).

I'm sorry if I rambled a bit, I just felt the need to finally get that discomfort off my chest :u

I hope they atleast keep Iori's laugh intact doe

THE MILF OF FIGHTERS!

Heh, they're getting better. I still cringe everytime I see comments disabled.

Ok, i know that KoF is known for having a huge roster of playable characters and such.

But i wonder, how much the game can be balanced having 50 playable characters at release?
