What does more money matter when they are joining Riot?

I wonder if they'll make a new game. I'm thinking it's about time for Riot to make a new game.
 
the game was f2p with no cash shop or any way to purchase anything, what money do you think they made off with? I could understand if people actually invested anything into the game (other than time) but as it stands the cancellation of a f2p alpha shouldn't leave anyone TOO shaken up even if they weren't aware of it in advance.

they did. it was an app game that got delisted after a short time. :[

Yeah, that's very true, but it's easy for us to say. There were definitely some people that were really attached to the game, and apparently for some people it was their first time investing any real time with the genre. Even if they didn't know about it, that small dedicated group of diehards probably played an important role in drawing Riot's attention. They didn't pay, but they played.

It's just too bad they're kinda being left stranded for the time being. Hopefully those folks will find their way to another fighting game, or at least be able to jump on whatever this next project turns out to be.
 
I never had a chance to try Rising Thunder, and now I never will. Thanks to always online DRM, the game is just gonna be lost forever now. I hate the idea that a game can just be gone like that. It's one thing for them to drop further development, but quite another to throw a killswitch so nobody can ever play the existing alpha again.

It belongs in a museum!
 
What's really annoying though, is that in their news postings, they've tried to play this off as a positive thing to their Rising Thunder community.

Well in fairness, not having to watch them fumble around trying to decide just how safe they want FA is a positive thing.
 
all I want out of this is for Riot to push them to optimise the game to be able to be played on toasters and potatoes of computers.
probably one of the biggest things that made League successful was making the game playable on just about everything.
Rising Thunder didn't really do that for Alpha, and considering it was a fighting game that non-fighting game players can jump into, I felt that that was something that would hurt itself trying to get out there.
 
Moving during super-freeze animations kinda ticked me off about this game. Really made me question if the people designing the game had any understanding of fighting game mechanics.
 
They made the right choice ditching RT for what I assume will be a LoL fighter, but it's really fucked up that there's no offline mode so that RT could still be played. There was never any reason to not have an offline mode either... now it's just going to fade into oblivion.

I guess that's what they want to happen?

As far as I know, they deliberately designed the game around the online-only premise (for example, one of the characters having a move that only made him invisible to the opponent). If it had launched, it probably wouldn't have gotten an offline mode because they would have had to alter how the game works in order to make everything viable in an offline environment.
