Dengeki Bunko: Fighting Climax

And Shizuo is fucking garbage to boot, which is a travesty.

I wish they'd go back and make the other 90% of the assists worth using, not everyone wants to be complacent with Dokuro.

After watching The Devil is a part timer for a second time, I then realized how much a playable Sadao meant to me, and how salty I got when Emi was announced. Not that I'm too mad about that anymore. BUT YES I GET IT
I really don't understand why Emi is playable and Sadao isn't.

The other side characters that are in over the main characters in the game make sense. The other main characters either don't have as much to them as said side characters do, gameplay wise, or they aren't as marketable as their side characters are, either because they're not on the covers of their books most of the time, or they look boring in comparasin.

Sadao fits into none of these categories.

Emi is another Dengeki waifu. That is her edge over Sadao. Ignition was gonna have at least another two whole male playable characters so of course they needed to balance that out with more female playables. So far since Ignition two new males and four new female playables added.

That can't be it.

The game already has the greatest waifu of all: Asuna.

Why would anyone want someone who's second best?

I mean, I like Emi just fine, my main problem with her is that she's so,
she's so boring.
Like, her attacks are, visually, nearly indistinguishable from Shana's, a character that I'm constantly forgetting is even in this game.

Sadao has transformations, energy weapons, superpowered brawling, and oodles of dark magic, he could easily be one of the most visually unique characters in the game.
The only thing Emi has going for her unique in any way is that weird magic baby, and the fact that her Trump Card is an energy drink :0

Don't act like she isn't the best.

I'm sorry. I have no clue of anything as I recently drowned myself in bleach to remove the disinfectant of something that had infected my brain.

you'd need a lot more bleach to get rid of the stain of Sword Art Online

Will this amount suffice?

I'd drink that much bleach to get an interesting character in this game.

I played the game extensively over the weekend and honestly no matter how many times I do so it ends up the same. The more I play this game the more fucking boring it gets. Mechanically the game is structurally sound. You can more or less play anyone in the game (I would say you're stuck to using like one of five or six worthwhile assists in the game). And I while I'd love to say that everyone has their own gameplan / manner of playing, when you actually hit someone everyone just FEELS the same. I mean that can be said about any fighting game but there's an underlying layer of homogenization to this game that makes this game perfect for everyone to pick up and so very very easy for me to put down.

If anything this dis concern stems from what it is I like to get out of playing fighting games but god damn if this doesn't happen every time I play this game.

No, yeah, the game is very universal.
Even beyond mechanics like bursting and the universal-overhead-into-launcher, every character has similar impact skills, almost all the super attacks work the same way, air combos are all the same.

It's a good babies first anime fightan but beyond that there isn't much to investigate on it.

The only real waifu here is Akira
shoulder check chan

Christ they nerfed him for no reason.

(O.o)
Source?

I downloaded all of Shizuo and Tomoka's sprites, so I don't know if newer characters have more.
Shizuo has 245, Tomoka has 263.
Tomoka also has assist characters with their own frames and such :0

EDIT: Misaka has 239, Akira has 243, Selvaria has 337, Rentaro has 262, so it seems consistent among the vanilla characters.

I mean, it's possible that the site I'm using is skimping me on sprites, but it's for MUGEN builds so I don't think that's the case.

I've wanted to say this game looks horrible for a long time.

But there's a part of me that wonders if maybe it's like Karnov's Revenge: boring rip off on the surface but uniquely great and fun little game underneath. Seems like a stretch though~

But yeah I watched a few videos and on my goodness that animation is offensive.

The game is pretty fun.

Game is fun but can possibly get horribly dull quick depending on what it is you want out of it.

Absurdly easy to pick up. Probably the easiest game on the market right now.

To quote something that was told to me in the advent of MVC3's release:

"Fun is what you call a game when you can't actually think of anything good about it."

everyone knows video games aren't supposed to be fun
fun is for children
games are adults

Then, let me teach you the one true fact of life.

Asuna.

Is.

Best.

WAIFU.

Okay but what was the fact
Was it that Ladd Russo should have been in on launch
because that's true

Asuna being best waifu is the fact.

The base roster is good, even if it has some head scratching roster choices.

Also, I respect the hell out of the dev's for not always including the main character of a series and instead putting a secondary character of said series into the game.

Asuna being is a fact
She definitely exists, unfortunately
Anything regarding her existence is opinion though

Nah.

My waifu's are objectively the best.

I dunno, I feel like I probably woulda respected the decisions more of they didn't seem to be put in for the sake of being a waifu fighter.
Shizuo being the notable exception but it's not like they'd pass him up for like, Mikado or something. Celty maybe but maybe they thought the roster had enough mid-range weaponry.

Well, I mean, most of the girls are more recognizable than the main protaigonists of said books that their from.

This isn't like Marvel 3, where the poster boy of a series (Megaman) doesn't get in, but some other characters from his games are. (Tron and Zero.)

It kinda is the same, really
Tron is a vet from MVC2, so people who only know about Mega Man would recognize her from MVC2 before they would Volnutt, not to mention people would expect her to be in before any other Mega Men besides Mega Man Classic
And Zero is not only another popular poster boy for the franchise, he's the protagonist for his own sub-series

You could also make the argument that the girls are only as recognizable as they are because of their heavy prominence on book covers and promotional material, and their prominence is in due part to the need to have a waifu-bait character to draw otakus and weebs into the series.
Also because all the male leads have the same bland Japanese protagonist design.

and they need Shizzy for that sweet sweet fujoshi money

but the only thing that will get that jaded baccano fan niche is
Ladd
