Report Skullgirls 2nd Encore (Vita/PS4) to be published by Arc System Works in Japan!

Nope. Sorry!
Ah, too bad. That feels like a missed opportunity for them then.

So is what Fukua says in the trailer just her line from Story Mode, or something else? The calm monotone voice doesn't sound like it'd fit the triumphant tone of that scene, but I suppose that could just be their take on "unsettling."

There was a second live stream for the 2nd episode of the japanese skullgirls introduction.
Got to hear JP Eliza VA for the first time while being played live. Was kinda cool.
Sorry i didn't post this earlier but there is a VOD

Here is the vod

There also seems to be an event for the release of skullgirls in japan on the 4/14

From what i can read out of this, is that it's apparetly going to be a live stream event where all the arc system works employees are going to take part in. Which will be going on for 24 hours? Maybe someone can elaborate about it in detail. My japanese is pretty much non existant. But people sending emails is also a part of this event that kind of changes things about this live stream thing. I'm just guessing here. But yeah if some one can explain what this is about i'd be happy.

Stream for the 3rd episode of the japanese skullgirls introduction series happened.
At the end of the stream some dates are discussed concerning the event i brought up in my earlier post.
Apparently 13th and 14th of April a Skullgirls stream will be happening.
I'll post as soon as arcsys tweets about it to let you guys know.
Also on a later date 4th live skullgirls introduction episode will be streamed. Date is still TBA.

You can find the vod here

Okay, I am like super happy that Arc is doing this for SkullGirls, like... sigh, Idk. I just really hope that the Japanese love SkullGirls just as much as we do over on the western hemisphere, and that these videos/ streams of Arc playing the game will really introduce new people to the game. I know that there are Japanese players who have Arcade Tourneys and I'm super happy about that.

What I'm trying to say is I want SG to take off in Japan like it did here.

Huh, so it got a lower score than SFV. That's... unexpected.

Not really trusting reviewer numbers too much anymore.

SFV got a 35/40 in Famitsu [10/8/8/9]. Basically, they didn't dock the game enough for the "not enough content" problem (which was a complaint they brought up), which is basically the issue that's getting reviewers in the west to REALLY rail hard on the game.

Then again we're talking about the same people who gave FF13 a 39/40.

Fenster I love you and all but... no. The story was poo poo. At least to me it was.

On topic to the score for SG: it's hard to really judge anything since we don't know what the review itself talks about and judging and comparing scores alone is extremely silly. For all we know, maybe they were just really disappointed that the story mode doesn't have flashy presentation that makes all the cutscenes feel stiff or something. Or maybe they didn't like that the story mode doesn't have a big "canon" story mode where we actually get to know what happens. Or maybe they just thought Beowulf sucked, idk, it could be anything. If we don't know the reason for why the points were docked, then the score is pretty meaningless to us.

Only thing I'll agree with is SF5's score being bad, not because of anything about the game's execution or something, but the fact that it's literally unfinished. If that doesn't cross any lines anymore, then I don't know.

The ending sucks and loses focus (ayyyy) when it gets to pulse, but it still has characters with neat motivations that have some neat conflicts for most of it, great battle system with really good balance and pacing in it's structure, and in general the game is paced well enough that outside of the shock value of "no Towns!" the game gets by fine with that despite it being a clear sign of bad management and why big budget development can go awry when you're studio is only concerned with Great Set Pieces.

39/40 is pretty silly since it's close to implying it has no flaws, but it still offers a very unique but still solid FF experience for it's gameplay alone, which is one of the very few in the series that can really say that.

32/40? Ah come on skullgirls deserves at least higher than that. Then again I heard that famitsu is kinda shady/bias/eh when it comes to reviews but it depends on the reviewer.

^ That is hardly a unique trait exclusive to Famitsu. Seen plenty of eyebrow raising scores from here in the states as well. In the end a review score is generally the opinion of one/small group of people. That person that has his/her own priority/guidelines of what is considered a 'good game'.

What I personally consider more important to gauge the reception of a game is the general consensus [not just limited to a review site/magazine] of the game overall. Skullgirls has been generally positively received both from reviewers and gamers while SFV you will notice the dramatic split opposition of the reaction. Keep in mind SFV at launch was sold at full retail price while Skullgirls was at a fraction

I've had problems with the 2nd player (right side) being quiet or sometimes not saying anything. However I haven't tried to put Squigly on her team just yet.

mfw Skullgirls gets a fantastic stream made up for it by ArcSys

Thanks, Lab Zero.

When Lab Zero appeared on ArcSys' last tutorial stream, it legit froze on that frame for a really long time.

I am so in there, next Tuesday.
SkullHeart Box Incoming.

General gist is, We like the game, it has the same design elements of Guilty Gear. Combos were easy to preform so yay there. And the characters are cute and cool. and... they had a fun little tourney, with punishments? I see a guy spinning around trying to get dizzy so..

you know what actually surprised me was the people who were playing during that NicoNico Stream, was that they practiced quite a bit [I think it was 2 extra days] , so they had a deeper understanding of the game compared to someone who just jumps right in. That's something I notice with people in NA when reviewing this game. They tend to spend only a day or so actually playing the game before handing out a score [an example would the IGN review of SG]. I personally feel the people who spent the extra practicing the extra 2 days or so for the Arc Stream had more fun because they started to see just how deep SG's combo system goes.

Idk, either way what Arc did for this stream was incredibly nice and I'm happy that SG will have a place in the Japanese FGC.

[ Now if only Lab Zero and Arc can partner up for some Cross Over Fighting Game goodness... mmmmmhhh... Ragna, Sol, and Filia team up to take down Robo Fortune, Robo Ky, and Nu #13.]

From the KAI-YOU article:

"Very muscular game it is. Which incorporates a function to the extent rare in recent fighting game. To see from the elements and the parody of a variety of games, I think that probably the people who like us fighting game of Japan has developed."

You used google translate didn't you
yeah he did... Ah... Google Translate is so silly sometimes.

I mean it's not wrong.... The girls do have some nice strong muscles. I mean some of the Kicks that Fortune and Val do require quite a lot of strength. And let's not forget Bella with her 4 sets of Guns... Pow Pow.

When I can afford it, I'm definitely importing the Japanese version on PS4.

Those voices are enough to warrant a purchase. Maybe I can get the weebs in the anime scene here in vegas to play the game now :P

well Ravidrath said he had a plan at getting the JP Voices, or something idk. cross your fingers.

That would work too if that is possible. Would save me a couple dollars.

I think I may be an anti-weeb. The only JP voice I would use is Robo Fortune's. Lack of Saxploitation, Salty, and Politician voices really hurts the Japanese voice options

Well...besides Salty, Idk how you would translate the other voices in Japanese lol
