Hello everyone who can't make it to combo breaker!

So last year I ran the skullgirls tourney, and it sucked. Fanime game staff didn't install the codes we gave them, we had to play on our laptops, and we were waiting to play on main stage in the game room top 8, and the guy in charge of it went to dinner and never came back that night. Point being I felt bad for the players, and for everyone involved.

This past week I been contacted by the famine staff, and are working with me this time around to coordinate another Skullgirls tourney. They apologized from last year's debacle, and want to make up it to me this year. So this year I am giving Fanime's game room staff another chance and I will host the SG tourney again. Atm we are in talks of which system we plan to play on, but right now I suggested the PC version so that everyone can bring their controller, and or stick to plug in and play. The PC's are looking like they will return like last year, and as long as they are connected to the internet I don't see a problem for controllers to be installed instantly, thanks to win 7, and play right away. We do have a back up plan of using the PS3 codes we got from Lab Zero to install the game on the PS3's just in case. They haven't used the codes to install the game, and its a back up plan at the moment.

The brackets will be runned on Challonge, and locking the player count at 32 players double elim tourney at Fanime. The times suggested to me were either Sat or Sunday at 4 pm. I am waiting on what panels are happening or events I plan to attend to cover for my site, but never the less I am cool with either time. So for those going to famine this year, I will be hosting it. Just look for the genderbend Squiggly Cosplayer with the big megaphone that oddly looks like Leviathan. :P

So yea come by and sign up! There will be prizes! Also finger crossed for top 8 to be on stage at famine.

I'm in England so I won't be able to make it out for this but if you're still considering which platform to run the game on, PS4 is the tournament standard for Skullgirls at pretty much every event.

Can anybody in SoCal give me a ride there? I'm like 6 hours away from San Jose.

EDIT 5-21-2016: Never mind. I think I have a bus rider who can take me there.

This is going to be on the 29th, right? It's listed as the 22nd, just want to make sure.

oh hey weird, this didn't notify me. Anyways so some details about the tourny as well as date and time.

Tourny will be held in the game room at Fanime on the 29th at 3 pm. Sign ups should be all weekend long, but if not you can sign up on that day for Skullgirls. Pools are 2/3 and top 8 is 3/5 double elim. This will be played on the PS4 for this tourny. There will be prizes to give out for top 3. No cash, only SG merch. If you have a hard time finding where it's at in the game room on the 29th, keep an eye out for a squiggly cosplayer with a megaphone.

Hope to see you guys there soon!

Also quick note. I see if I can use my LGP to record matches, but no guarantee. if able I should be at least record top 8.

you're dressed as squig?

Just wanted to give a heads up: nearly all the artists (except for Mariel, Willy, and I) will be at Fanime in the artist alley so good look for 'em! Alex doesn't have a table but he'll be hanging around, I think. Richard, Brian, and Chris have tables so go bug 'em.

Everyone in NorCal will be at Combo Breaker but please don't let DJ Azure win thanks
I can't afford CB (I'm not anyone important, "everyone" probably means big names), but might get a ride w/my bro to this thing.
It'd be my first SG local after two years of wanting to go to one. If not, enjoy!
Edit: oh PS4. I only have a PS3 pad. Hope to get an arcade stick or PS4 someday.

hey do you know which tables they're at? it was a bit hard to navigate the artists alley today.

Yeah wow it was pretty cool actually playing with other people in person and meeting some of you guys in real life!

Congratulations to @DawnHibiki for winning, and thank you, @clawmaster, for holding the tournament. None of my local friends play SG, so it was really great to meet SG players offline. All the SG players I met were super friendly and two even lent me their sticks to play casuals with. I appreciate that a lot. Thanks to the community for coming out and having fun! I hope we have fun next year, too!

Thanks again everyone who came out for SG at fanime! Can't really take all the credit as much of the game staff at fanime helped alot running the brackets and set up the tourny. Also shout outs to Shadow Showdown for installing 2nd encore on the machines and gave us 5 set ups! Next year going to try to shoot for top 8 on the main stage at Stage Zero to bring in the hype for Skullgirls! Also shout outs to Sanshee for providing us prizes for our top 3! Here are the brackets from the tourny!

Also I do have footage of the tourny, I have to back and edit them, but should be up soon! It will be on youtube.com/Missionstartpodcast1

Yeah how does that work? I'd love to see skullgirls get the same amount of hype killer instinct and street fighter v got!

I talked to the head game coordinator about it, and hes more then willing to have it set up for us. Basically there would be one set up on stage, I be on the mic hyping up the crowd, and we would go through top 8 that way.

sounds rad; totally looking forward to a sg tournament devoid of distractions

(My friend and I were totally distracted by the just dance tournament during the matches between the top three, whoops)
