Game looking great in 3D if it'll all look like this.

I don't really follow this game but...
is that supposed to look great?
It looks mid 2000s-ish to me

Well if that's the earliest earliest shot we're getting of it it's a good first step

It's looking pretty good along the same lines as double dragon neon. With a little more work on the shades it will be great which makes me happy on the survey they asked for opinions.

Thought that was a gmod fan machina at first lol.

With better shaders and zoomed out camera I guess it'll look as okay as DD Neon I guess.

Well if we think that the model might not be fi al that's impressive. Weird that the hair has way more detail than the armor though

These are the 2 current shaders and they are working on more.

It sure has been a while since the last time an update's been talked about here. Quite a bit has been revealed over the past couple months, so here's a quick rundown on what's happening in the world of Bloodstained:

  • Ultimately, we did get a survey on which shaders would be used in the final game, but the fanbase got a choice of four combinations of 2 different shaders to be used separately for backgrounds and characters. The final result led to the second shader being chosen for both backgrounds and characters. Here's a picture of the result, and here's a video showing off Miriam up close.
  • Miriam had a slight design change due to gameplay reasons. Now, two ribbons hang off of her outfit's shoulders in order to make her more visible against the backgrounds.
  • Another development update has shown off some barebones gameplay in a test map and IGA's "swordsmanship" with an umbrella (which will apparently be the basis for the katana's attack animation). New things revealed in the video include a new take on the HUD, the return of sliding, and Miriam's unarmed attack (a big kick which leaves her in a cool pose afterward). Here's an embed of that video so you can see it for yourself:

I love how hands on with the fans Iga is. it's almost like he's calling you to look over his shoulder as he's showing you the game.

truly, Iga is best Japanese kickstarter dev. most definitely NOT a miserable pile of secrets.

Koji Igarashi posted a new update on the Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night Kickstarter page today.
We have a look at a trio of minor enemy designs: Seama, Dullahammer, and Morte.

Here’s an overview of each one:

pzOhGlc.jpg

Seama

The demon parasite of the sea!
Water monsters are always essential, but we wanted to do something unusual this time around—that’s why our sea monster influence was the humble jellyfish.
It worked out well. But it’s so jiggly… it looks kind of delicious.

Dullahammer

A headless knight that attacks by swinging its own head like a flail. I love the idea of really large minor enemies—the sheer size makes you feel like you’ve met a challenging opponent.
The uni, or sea-urchin-like substance inside Dullahammer’s armor is an accent. He looks kind of delicious, too…

Morte

A lesser demon that lacks a corporeal form, this mud-like creature can’t hold its shape.
If it could talk, it would probably yell something like, “Give me a physical form!” By the way, it doesn’t drop any skills.
It’s a lesser demon, after all…

Mana Ikeda, the community manager for Bloodstained, has announced on the Bloodstained forums that Bloodstained will follow a staggered content release model. The main game as described in the pitch will be released first, with other content coming afterward as DLC. Presumably, this is to avoid another Mighty No. 9 situation where the game would have to be delayed several times in order to include absolutely everything day 1 and to lighten the workload of making 3 games at once for Inti Creates.

I can get behind this. After all that MN9 situation I rather kickstarter games take it a little easier, in the end people just want to play the game. I'm hyped for Bloodstained!

Speaking of that, apparently Bloodstained will have a special E3 demo depicting the stage shown in the update video. The monsters shown in the last update will be part of it, and it will be given out for free via a Steam code to all backers who pledged $60+.

I dunno guys
this all looks really derivative of Castlevania to me :/

Welp, Ruin, guess what everyone wanted!

Literal Castlevania

looks really good.
I assume you mean the backgrounds?
No transitions between most animations, not even blending, and she actually clips through the platforms she jumps through...

I meant more along with the coloration and lighting.
seeing what was voted on in motion/practice is something I've been really wanting to see.
which I was not disappointed with.

I'm sure they'll improve Miriam's animations.

Well people would assume everything there is not final. If the devs think it is, which I doubt though, then we have a problem.

There's a difference between "not final" and "not different from their last video months ago", though. I only mention this as a dev.

Yeah, the part with the storm on the ship reminds me an awful lot of the Lighthouse section in Order of Ecclesia.

I can only assume that most of the work done since last update has been focused on getting the intro stage and its enemies up and running, rather than further polishing Miriam's animations.

There is also a difference between "polishing her animations" and "making her work better as a character"; the things I pointed out have nothing to do with the animations, they have to do with the implementation. None of this requres an artist.

I think polishing also involves implementation, and we don't know what are their priorities. I do hope the animations get better, but being 3D animation they're like that because maybe they're not done yet? I mean I think the walk cycle could use some work too.

AGAIN, if after some time this turns out to be "final" by their standards then some people are going to be mad.

Okay, E3 is basically over, and the demo is... nowhere to be found, at least anywhere outside of the show floor. There is a bunch of gameplay footage of it, though, so here's some of said footy.

Looks cool. Hope it gets better.

Well, I wouldn't expect a demo to be out this soon especially for E3. Like, a gameplay trailer is as best as we're probably gonna get at this time.

Actually they said they'd distribute that demo to all $60+ backers a bit after E3 so long as you did your survey by the 13th. An update will drop before it happens.

Oh, well fuck me then.

I did change it recently from WiiU to PS4 recently so I hope that doesn't affect my demo availability.
I changed it before the 14th so hopefully it shouldn't.

You just had to have done it by then.
I actually am torn on what console I should get it on.
Probably PS4 because Symphony of the Night was on PS1...

Right now I'm getting it on PS4, PC and Vita.

I don't have a problem. :T
