USA Skullgirls Community Tour? (Discussion)

I think the most important thing for all of this right now is communication. Lets not put out any more press releases or make any big decisions with events without at least SOME input from the rest of us. Kai, when you say things like this...

I am doing this. I will be working as closely as I can with LZ, TO's, players, and maybe even some outside sponsors. You can either be a help, or a hindrance, but I will be moving forward regardless, because this can help our community.

...it sounds like decisions are being made without community involvement, which seems to be the entire point of this thing. Having people make decisions based on assumptions of the community is exactly what got us to needing something like this in the first place. Your comments in this thread have make it sound like you are the one doing all of this, and anyone who disagrees with your perceived model is just being a hater who doesn't care.

This is not one idea vs another. This is a community effort. It's important not to forget that.

snip
If I didn't have people trying to shit on ideas as simple as funding international players to come to Combo Breaker, Ryan, maybe I wouldn't feel like I have to push things like this.

AND

Everything I'm doing is based on what the community decided. We've ALREADY talked about this. I am not advocating for anything contradicting what we all came up with together, you're just getting hung up on a theoretical points system.

I dont THINK there should be a point system if nobody really cares for there to be an end of the year tourny. HOWEVER we should do what we did this year that was successful which was advertise everywhere to every tourny going like HEY THIS IS OUR TOURNY GO TO THIS
We arent Esports. Not yet :P
Lets do it the community way!!!!

Personally even i dont like the idea of the point system... at least not yet.

EDIT: by that I mean despite everything we are kind of small for a FGC. Now I still like the idea of the tour but we shouldn't make it as big as a capcom tour right off the bat. Test the waters waters and see what works for the first tour then the next time fix what didnt work and improve on what did. That's why I think at least for the first tour we shouldnt implement a point system.

Yeah, the only real reason for there to be a points system is if it were to lead up to our own, community made, Skullgirls-centric event, which, sadly, I do not see as being successful *YET*.
Key word there is yet. :V

There is no issue. I have heard it loud and clear.
So delete the thread? We had a plan already to go to all of these tournies. All you did was add the useless point system which most of us are against, and then started attacking those against you.

I agree, this thread clearly has no purpose. Thank for for offering the concise solution.

I had a real thing I wanted to say but holy shit.

I'm re-opening this thread.

First of all, there is an issue. It's a shitty thing to tell someone who has been involved with the community that they do "nothing" not to mention calling someone who put in a ton of work for us as "Vestigial" It's even more shitty for you to say this to someone who has been involved in the community longer than you.

Your attitude towards things has been rude, passive aggressive, and downputting to people for over a year. All this thread has done is confirmed that you are not the kind of person who should be in charge of happenings in this community, no matter how good your intentions may be at heart. If you want people to support your ideas, the first step is to stop being a passive aggressive conceited ass about these issues. You go out of your way to put people down- not something a community leader should. Boasting your own involvement over others is the absolute WORST way to handle this (especially when it's not accurate)

I speak for a lot of people when I say that your attitude and approach to things has is anything but fitting for you. You acted like this when Mike and I gave you feedback in the commentary and you acted like it again when people gave feedback to this idea.

MOM, DAD, PLEASE STOP FIGHTING

@Dolfinh you've had an axe to grind for a while, what else is new

I'm saying what a large portion of this community is thinking. Get over yourself. You are not fit to be in charge and calling people by their first names and passively trying to assert your dominance over them goes nowhere.

If nothing changes I'm going to get everyone I can to go to rick to find someone else to help be in charge of Skullgirls at combo breaker. There are plenty of passionate, kind, and selfless people who are willing to help make Skullgirls better than it was before, and all you want to do is talk them down.

Frosty thread. Literally all Mike and I said was you need to work on your game knowledge and you took it incredibly personally and aggressively.

Honestly, the biggest problem most people have with you Kai is that when there are events and you want to put your help in, you are like a credit-taking sponge, and then talk about past things you do for the community. Then when people have criticism or voice their opinion on something you do, or put up the possibility of monitering/having a bigger say in your ideas you get passive aggressive or just upset and then proceed to take that out on other people trying to help/do things for the community. A little more modesty would be fantastic.

Rembber when Video games were fun?
