Indivisible media coverage index

Having something like this in an actual magazine is hella cool though.

Nah, Peter is hella cool and he doesn't have to hide anything.

Oh ok. I'm asking because I've heard stories where magazines like Gawker tried showing proof that rival company leaders were secretly gay. It's still personal and private to many and for a minute I was horrified that we pulled him out against his personal wishes.

Up until the discussion of LGBT characters in Indivisible, Peter's sexuality was of little relevance to his work at Lab Zero, which is likely why some (most?) people didn't know. I don't think anybody (including him) regards it as a sensitive issue, but staying on a minor topic for a needlessly long time can make anything awkward, so let's move on.

It still is of little relevance. What matter in the job is how good you are in it, and Peter is damn good at it

Agreed. I'm a girl and am I good at my job? Hell no!

.... Wait.. I did that backwards, can I start over?

Well, no. His being gay has little relevance to being a game dev CEO, but in the context of his discussing and possibly working to implement gay characters into Indivisible story, it is relevant. Which is why I said up until that point. Personal experience is important in shaping believable writing, and I hope that will be the case with the planned LGBT content in Indivisible.

One of my biggest annoyances in writing is when people with no personal experience think they can just summon up a character whole cloth, without knowing a damn thing about that kind of person. In games, this happens all the time with soldiers and other military figures. I can tell immediately when a, "soldier," type was written by a person with zero military experience, and likely would've never survived basic training, to boot. It just ends up being this bizarre abomination, built entirely on assumptions. It's insulting. The LGBT members of Lab Zero will hopefully ensure that their LGBT audience does not have to feel like that when reading those characters. That's the whole point. Personal experience breeds realism.

Yeah, I remember something like that happened here in my country. The biggest TV station (Televisa, probably worldwide famous, or at least known in the States, maybe) implemented gay characters in its shows and soap operas after the LGBT community asked them to do so. I agree with the community, however, and as you might already guessed, the writers created ridiculous, over-the-top gay characters that hit on every single male character that crossed their paths. Now this is ridiculous and offensive, because it makes people think gay individuals are just a bunch of perverts, even worse than the stereotypical Mexican macho who has three or four women at once and gives no shit about their well-being. In my opinion, a well-written gay character is like any other well-written character; their sexuality isn't the focus of their actions, they can be as brave as a hero or as despicable as a villain, and if there is a scene where they make clear their preferences without having to resort to a "hey, did I mention I'm gay AND horny today?" scene, then it's all good, at least in my opinion.

Yeah, im from Mexico and this really happen on open TV, really really sucks!

And I still disagree: you can be part of a group and write a poor representation of it. Writing skills and endeavor to research and understand what you're writing is still more important than just being it.

And soap opera as an example are a low blow. Almost every character on them is poorly written

I'm surprised no one brought up Mizhena from BG siege of dragonspear. Literally worst LGBT character in a videogame ever.

"DID I ALREADY MENTION I'M TRANSGENDER EVEN THOUGH IN THIS UNIVERSE THERE ARE GENDER-CHANGING POTIONS?????? JUST TO BE SURE YOU KNOW"

Look, I don't care about this "LGBT content" (like Kai described it) planned for Indivisible. It was just a question the interviewer just asked Peter out of curiosity, probably. I'm fine with gay characters but I care more about the game itself, not who or what a character is sexually attracted to. It's not vital to my enjoyment.

EDIT: BUT when a character is so badly written though, well godfuckingdamnity

This has become more than an aside, so if anyone wants to continue this topic, please create a new thread for it. Otherwise, let's not crowd this thread, which exists for a different purpose than discussing LGBT characters in Indivisible.

Right-o (almost sure I saw a mr Saturn answering like that, and they're cool).

So... Back into indivisible, one thing we're getting less previews than before is music... Will kikuta share wip songs with us?

Speaking of coverage think Lab 0 will release the animated opening at a convention of some kind to spread awareness and Hype?

So, I've been watching frankly way too much of TotalBiscuit's content lately, and think it would be really cool if Mike Z could guest on the Co-Optional Podcast. All that snark in one stream...

Agreed. He really liked SG back in the day it came out on PC though, so at least he would enjoy it if he does decide to invite Mike.

Huh, stumbled upon this.

This quote does worry me a little about the site.

Ajna’s ability could have well been “Cultural Appropriation: The Power.” Instead we get a system where she not only learns new moves from other characters but supports and fights with them as well.

"Muh colture aproprieshun."

Fucking SJWs, they see their invented social issues where there are none.
Bet my ass they're not even going to play this game, which I've seem them praise a lot on tumblr.

Hey, just stating my opinion after seeing that article. Didn't want to start a debate.

Lets get the media like Fox News and Alex Jones to talk about the issues you just said. Why? Free advertising!

Goddamn, this a hell of an application for my ignore list. You've got the job, sir.

Ah, ok. Sorry for that.
No worries, you can see what has been found already on the first page of the thread. This one was under interviews.

Thanks boss, been waiting my whole life for this.

They had a video interview, but I can't seem to get it to load so I don't know what's in it T~T
I noticed that article too. I think they might have just been trying to reupload from their livestream. Here's a timestamp:

From what I watched so far, it seems like similar info that Peter shared in the other video.

"We've got over a year left"

I knew it was a good idea to mentally note that "early 2018" release date as meaning "late 2018." :P

They've been saying mid-2018 since like January. Either way, I'd rather they delay it as much as they need anyway.

It's not really a problem, just something I expected. '>_>

Finally went back and watched the rest of the interview. There's actually some pretty interesting bits in there. Biggest of which is that they're planning to have Yō Yoshinari on their panel at AX. That'll be awesome. I wish there was some way they could livestream the thing this year!

He also talked about a bit of lore stuff. He mentions that the Aztec city is subterranean, which interesting, and confirms that the world loops around like a ring, which we saw in the old diagram from Alex's lore video. Cool stuff.

Production-wise, they seem to be rolling along production pretty well for the most part. Seemed like part of the reason they couldn't shoot for early 2018 anymore was because of the time it took to find the new office last year. I certainly wouldn't mind if they kept working most of next year anyway, just so they could squeeze in as much content as possible.
