Blazblue

Slightly different variant for Terumi... I wonder who else he will cut through

That might be one of the most flaccid Astrals I've ever seen in my life.

i can't believe Ragna doesn't have a fucking soul
or should I believe it did some side manga reveal that ragna is, in fact, soulless

Same honestly.

Also sharing these because everyone needs to see them.

The cutest Jubei I've ever seen (thanks Amane)

And the cone of shame

This might be the one time I'm in favor of modding. We can only pray this sends a message to Ark...

I just miss Tao...... and Tager, and Kokonoe, and Rachel, and (CS) Bang and Haz.... and the entire English cast.

And I was looking forward to having Saya saying KNEEL BEFOAH ME every three seconds an actual character, not just a special game mode.

Please, ArkSys........please...

....pray with me. Umbasa.

As great of a VA he is, I'm a bit tired of his voice....

But Nine could be voiced by freaking Terry Crews for all I care as long as we actually got that sweet, sweet dub...

people are so desperate for the dub its a bit ridiculous and i dont get it lmfao

Plenty of people, myself included, got our start with the dub so not having it for the end kind of sucks. It doesn't stop the actual game itself from being good nor is the original Japanese bad, but it's something people had and didn't get for the last game. I did eventually get CF in the end (I think? Pretty sure I bought it on sale for PS3...) but other, higher priority games are preventing me from playing it more than the lack of an English dub.

Or because some people just like to complain.

we didnt need the skullgirls japanese dub for western audiences
it was a bonus
without it we wouldnt have had any problems at all

the blazblue dub drama is just beating a dead horse
the fact that we get arcsys titles as soon as we have been recently after their japanese counterparts is worth more than waiting over a year for an unnecessary dub.

Implying it's cause of dub and not cause they suck at organizing their production schedule.

I can certainly understand the complaint of "they haven't made an official statement about it, the veteran voice actors haven't said they were told anything about it privately." I... don't understand so much how it's core to enjoyment where an unaffiliated mod makes it worth buying.

Although I would certainly enjoy Nine being voiced by Terry Crews.

It was a bonus for everyone. They didn't originally launch with a Japanese dub anywhere. It was something Arc System Works did and Lab Zero went through all the legal hoops to get it. It was pretty cool for both parties.

I'll admit the dub complaining is beating a dead horse nearly a year later.

I posted something earlier (oh geez, I should have spell checked that post) in this thread about how the English US releases on consoles were pretty close to the Japanese ones. Europe varied a bit more but got better as the series went along. Some of them were even closer than Central Fiction's release and that didn't have the dub while the rest of the series did. Can't rag too much on that point since BB is still a visual novel and those take time regardless.

Since ASW hasn't said anything about it, I can only assume that they just wanted to cut costs by ditching the English dub.

I... don't understand so much how it's core to enjoyment where an unaffiliated mod makes it worth buying.

Well, as Maddie and I put it: people like to complain. This is the solution that they'll have to settle with.

And Nine was voiced by Amanda Miller already.

cutting the dub DOES improve their release schedule... that's just a fact. I never said the release schedule was good but it is better w/o the dub being present.

It's like stubbing your toe and cutting it off so it stops hurting. It's stupid and no excuse at all.

They could just let japanese and english dub happen at the same time like so many multi-language dub games do, but nope, they leave that for later, cause I guess logic in japanese game development is way rarer than it should be

I was a pretty big fan of the english cast. They made the game sound so amazing and poured a lot of emotion in each of their characters they played. I love Ragna's vocal fear of ghosts, Kokonoe's Witty banter laced with a cold, sometimes uncaring tone, Jin's amusingly creepy "BROTHER!" lines, and Taokaka's....ok all of Tao's lines. I started with the English cast and after 3 games of English I would of loved to hear the English cast on the final game. Those VA's did an amazing job and having em axed on the final horrah is a pretty deep cut.

Plus I would of never laughed as hard at a voice line in my life if it wasn't for this game XD

you think every single voice actor in this game has the same time schedule? that they just immediately work on whatever that company throws in their face with no information prior? thats not how it works... Thats not how business works and it most definitely is not how voice actors work.

Imagine doubling the size of work they have for making sure not only all the NEW voice actors are getting every single line done for the first time but doubling that with an english voice cast as well as having all the old cast coming back to do any touch ups or add any new lines they got for their new moves and then story lines as well....

No excuse at all? What are you even talking about, stop acting like just because you're a fan you have some big important view and knowledge of this business.

There is no excuse for you thinking you should just get it handed to you as if you deserve it. You're a consumer, that's it. Even with all the vocal support maybe at max 3/4's of those people complaining about it, will buy it
the money they spend for the dub would barely get covered... So why waste their time and resources only for us to have to wait EVEN LONGER for the game to release

thats not fair. Not fair at all. Like, holy shit. The dub was something in EVERY Blazblue game minus spinoffs and last I checked this game ISN'T a spinoff. and the Dub isn't some secondary thing like a minor game mode people play once. This is something PEOPLE GET ATTACHED TO. Guess what? The dub, which helped us connect with characters and make fights feel more personal cause you could understand them, may not be a necessity, but it is a deep blow considering its now harder for me to get attached to the new characters without any sort of dub helping flesh out their connections from the barebones story this time around.

I get it, people are beating a dead horse, but you don't have to be an ass about a legitimate issue that is here. they don't want to dub it? Fine, at least have the decency to tell us WHY. At least have the decency to talk to us. I don't think people should let this drop cause it's important. if you don't stop badgering them about it they will think they got away with it and nobody cared. Guess what? People did care. I can respect if you didn't really care about the dub or didnt use it, but don't shit on ppl who loved the dub.

Yes its more work, but CF sold poorly compared to other Blazblue titles at launch and didnt pick it up until all these sales and the big hypeness EVO brought it. Maybe it has something to do with all this Dub drama it rightfully deserved? HMMMMMMMMMMMM.

Okay dub thing aside, I just found out one of Jubei's palettes is a palette of Nine.

(No I'm not crying, what are you talking about?)

honestly arcsys has just sorta gotten increasingly lazy and cost-cutting with their localizations over the years

I'm done talking about dub talk.
I really don't care what people want, from a business standpoint not doing the dumb is much easier on their wallet and I think it's worth saving the money.

Also every game that gets another physical release after the first game is going to sell less, especially a game that is already a niche market in the west... Barely anything to do with the dub I don't know why anyone would think otherwise lmfao

Hold on a second. Do you really think the dub is that insignificant? You don't think the people who lost interest due to the lack of dub doesn't impact their sales? You talk like this was a great business move but you completely ignored how much it hurt the rest of the world's sales knowing that the things they got attached too was cut off for a quick buck and release.

Yeah its an ok business move but only if your worry about profit and not the audience, which is a soulless outlook if you ask me. Its stuff like this is why MvCi marketing is the way it is.

it isn't soulless when you realize that there was an even bigger audience complaining about how long it was taking for their releases outside of japan, at the cost of the voices for actually getting to play the game in the west at all, i'd say that's a better business decision. I'm sure the loss of the dub hurt sales... but the sales were gonna get cut anyways since its a followup release for the game, they ALWAYS sell worse, dub or no dub

an even bigger audience complaining about how long it was taking for their releases outside of japan

Probably most of those people who actually cared about release would have imported the Japanese version, which is what happened with UNIEL and UNIST. The biggest audience, the casual one, is probably willing to wait. You know what the second largest (if not the largest) internet complaint about CF is? No Unlimited characters. Most players probably couldn't care less about unlimited characters, but many people still want them because that's what they want out of a Blazblue game, and would probably have been willing to wait/pay if they could have them.

If SFV has shown anything, it's that people want something feature-complete, and are willing to accept delays if they get a finished product. For Street Fighter is was single player content, for Blazblue it's a dub.

"Oh no, how people dare expect something every other development team can do no problem."

There are certain standards in the industry that people have come to expect you know. Why can't it be pointed out when a developer fails hard to meet them?

Get over yourself. ARC is the only one to blame for late realeases and that's that.

Not to mention the ignorance and lack of information in your statement.

"Double the work"? Uh... no? Just send the scenario for translation and voice-over to Aksys (who were the ones organizing dubs for CT and CS) when it's done and THEY will take care of it while ARC can focus on their work. If it's organized properly it will barely have any impact bar answering some questions about story details and such.

And now that many actors are already set for characters from previous games they don't even have to try and find them for most of the cast so that load of work goes out the window. You also seem to overestimate how "busy" your average voice actor is. Cause 90% of them are not at all on daily basis so they can just come over "whenever".

Oh I also find it hilarious how you say I don't know anything about the buisiness and then you go telling "dub would not make money back". Hi there kettle.

Daily reminder Witcher 3 had voice-over in 6 languages ready day one with way more text.

Last thing I'll say on Dub talk is thst regardles of cutting it or not they never gave any stayements on it. Even after the big explosion about it. Felt like they didnt care or were just throwing out whatever at us to make a quick buck. Thats the insulting part, the lack of communication.

We were left hanging for months and the only news we had was that Patrick Seitz wasn't contacted, we only knew for certain there was no dub 3 months before release.

Which sucks.

They Powerpuff Girls Rebooted em'.

So it looks like we're getting BlazGreen on August 31. Cat man and finally viable Kagura coming your way to a console near you.

....Also I jut got that Nine X Jubei is a reference to Cait Stihs after 8-9 years...

Some common folklore suggested that the Cat Sìth was not a fairy, but a witch that could transform into a cat nine times.

it's called blazgreen because there's like eight different terumis
