Gaming General Discusison

I think it's kinda weird this'll be the first game in the series without a focus on a group of Assassins, but I think after 2 games we were due for a change of flavor, and having Travis Touchdown go through a bunch of Indie Game titles as levels sounds like the perfect start to it.
But what Indie Titles?
We got Hotline Miami, so it seems any popular Indie game is on the table.

I hope we get a stab at Mighty No. 9, at least.
Not as a level, just as a "Fuck you, what happened?" to them.

But what Indie Titles?
He's partnered with Devolver, so look at what they've put out.
Copy pasting short list I already posted.
  • Hotline Miami
  • Serious Sam games
  • Shadow Warrior
  • Hatoful Boyfriend
  • Talos Principle
  • Titan Souls
  • Downwell
  • Broforce
  • Not a Hero
  • Pathologic HD
  • Enter the Gungeon
  • Mother Russia Bleeds
  • Absolver
There was also a pretty cool looking game they showed at E3 that I'm blanking on.

I think Shadow Warrior is a shoe-in to get a crossover with No More Heroes, the style of humor and action mixes perfectly with it.

Enter the Gungeon and Hatoful Boyfriend too, maybe.
But we also have to consider he might also be partnering with other companies we have yet to see, but the Devolver lead is a good thing.
If it IS Just Devolver that's still a choice amount of games to get crossovers with NMH

I would be particularly surprised if there is no Shadow Warrior crossover yeah. I need Travis to attack the Hatoful Boyfriend school now that I think about it, that would just be too funny.

I don't know if it is just Devolver, I'm only saying he's partnered with them because at the Switch thing he talked about wanting to work with a bunch of Indie people and at the Devolver E3 conference he does show up basically to announce he's working with them. But yeah, even if it is just Devolver it's not like that doesn't offer a lot to work with.

I think I was half awake when I first saw the trailer, didn't realize that was Bad Girl's dad, so that's pretty fucking cool. Hope his theme is any good, can't have an NMH game without an outstanding soundtrack.

Hatoful Boyfriend
yaas! Probably the most Devolver -and- the most Suda 51 crossover. I just hope we get a self-aware burrito.

Some people are saying that Travis in the trailer doesn't sound like Robin Atkin Downes, let's hope this is scheduling conflict and not another victim of the Strike (That's still not resolved? Really? Guys need to fuckin' pay their voice actors already god damn it)

Suda apparently teased Shovel Knight involvement.

Shovel Knight is the least surprise, he's basically the face of Indie games at this point, as well as the face of successful Kickstarters that actually, you know, live up to their promise.
He's been in almost every indie game, but man, I don't care, he deserves it.

This also confirms that not EVERY Indie game has to be from Devolver Digital, almost anything can go.
I think some other shoe-ins are possibly Cave Story.
We also gotta think what kinda Indie games Suda51 likes and would gel well with No More Heroes style.
Like, he obviously loves Hotline Miami, that games up his alley, and Shovel Knight Is also obvious, but what else kinda games would he like...

Probably not, but what if SG or Indivisible is in there?

I can see Cave Story just cause not all of them have to be Western Indies. There are a lot of Indie games from over there we haven't even heard of lol.

Additionally, I could see maybe stuff like Hyper Light Drifter, maybe Super Hot lol. There are A LOT of options. That's not even saying all of them have to be Indie, we could see another Grasshopper game like Let it Die or Killer is Dead or something.

You guys think it might be time to make a No More Heroes thread? 'Cuz it appears the hype around Travis Strikes Again is pretty real, and just discussing what Indies you want to grace a NMH Game is pretty fun.

almost anything can go.
I think some other shoe-ins are
Meat Boy, anyone? Would fit with all the blood.

Also, Shantae is awesome and cameo-friendly.

what if SG
Hm, a 3D fight with Filia or Cerebella would be weird. But fun. And all the wrestling moves would be great. On the other hand, IP ownership of SG characters for external use is kinda complicated. Marvelous? Autumn?

Furi would be pretty cool now that I think about it. Wish Rider was in Indivisible, honestly would certainly take him over Drifter.
I think some other shoe-ins are possibly Cave Story.
I don't know about that, but it'd be cool. I guess Nicalis isn't opposed to crossovers though since Curly is in some fighting game now.
what if SG or Indivisible is in there
Would be pretty good for Indivisible but I'd be surprised if that was on Suda's radar.

Make a general Grasshopper Manufacture thread if you're going to make a thread, I don't see NMH having enough discussion to warrant a thread outside build up to this and if you specify Suda51 games that draws weird lines since most people don't know what he actually made or not.

Man, Evil Within 2 looks kinda cool, but I'm not sure if it's "Preorder/Full Price" cool.
I kinda wanna give it the time of day but given the very little actual gameplay we've seen I'm very weary.

support Mikami's Head-san so he can eventually Kickstart a successor to God Hand
we need DEMON FOOT in our lives

I mean, even if I don't get it at launch (It has the weakest preorder goodies, a gun, some medical supplies, and crafting stuff, which is like, the WORST for a Survival Horror preorder goody), I'll get it eventually.
He's actually not Directing this time, but he is Producing and helping out.
So, that's another thing to be weary of.

so that chinese MOBA they showed for the Switch sure has a neat cast guys

I did a doubletake when I saw Batman.
The thing that stings is some of these character deisgns are actually cool, but the map is just so clearly Summoner's Rift.
here's a pepperoni secret, my dude
the company that "developed" it? is Tencent
also known as the company that owns Riot Games

I actually knew about that but it still looks so Bootleg League despite being made by the Chinese copany that bought Riot
boy, you gotta read between the lines here
I'm not saying Tencent developed it
I'm saying that, chances are, Riot ghost-developed it

Someone developing/making PR for code vein likes Nadia

Can somebody explain to me the whole NMH crossover thing?

Can somebody explain to me the whole NMH crossover thing?
Basically, Badman (Bad Girl's father), comes to assassinate Travis, during the scuffle, the "Death Drive Mark 2" activates and sucks them both into it.
After that, Travis has to beat 6 (Indie) Games before BadMan and he'll get granted a wish.
basiclaly, it's NMH Gameplay in Indie Games.

Oh shizzles.

Hotline Miami, Skullgirls and Not A Hero plz. I wanna fight for Bunnylord.

What if The Stanley Parable tho? Like, out of the blue.

They already confirmed that Hotline Miami 2 and Shovel Knight are in it.

The director also wants Monokuma in it, although he isn't exactly "indie."

waitwaitwait.

First things first: SG isn't "indie" anymore, it has a publisher (marvelous)
Second: no one confirmed anything about this
third: would Lab zero have time to collaborate in such project?

4th but not the least important: imagine travis interacting with any girl in the game. i don't know if i wanted it before, but now i sure do

These days the word 'indie' has come to mean anything not by developed by a major studio, whether they're actually independent from publishers is a distinction no one really cares about anymore. Hotline Miami is published by Devolver, so it's the same as SG in that respect.

Does this mean we get Travis back?

*tentatively over
it's more like a ceasefire but it's looking good right now

What was the deal anyway? Maybe I didn't inform myself better but I heard the VAs were asking for better work conditions while at the same time asking for a cut of total sales a videogame they helped voice makes.

basically they wanted some changes to pay systems and work environment. A lot of roles come out of nowhere because a lot of studios kept the exact role under wraps until they were actually in doing the voice. This was to keep leaks down. Its hard planning multiple recordings in a weak only to throw out your voice yelling for 6 hours straight. Having to do filming even if minor out of nowhere can be hard to and a lot of people weren't being paid for being required to run extra sessions afterwads if they didnt get all the takes done in the scheduled time. This is all basically just giving VAs courtesy and respect for what they do in that now its more clear before the fact (they can't disclose everything of course) and give more incentive to give a better performance given they're now paid for extra sessions as well. Didnt get everything they wanted like mini royalties basically but what they got was a good step forward.

That's great. The mini-royalties bit didn't convince me at all, but I knew that the work environment for VAs wasn't exactly that good, especially if you have to ruin your voice and thus ruining your job's skills.
