Them's Fightin' Herds

https://forums.themsfightinherds.co...urrent-beta-status-and-upcoming-updates.1184/

Here is the latest on the beta. As said by the thread, it will be a matter of days before the NDA is lifted. I think after the NDA is lifted, it will take like a week before the full game is released. If I were to throw an estimation out, I'd say like 2-3 weeks, maybe 1.5 if the NDA is lifted quickly. Pretty much depends on how long a "matter of days" will be.

Maybe we'll get some news during EVO. I think it would be fitting for that to be the case, but I'm not holding my breath.

man i hope this comes out soon, I wanna play it with my sister before I go back to school.

There was a forum post by one of the devs yesterday saying that the nda would be lifted "pretty soon". They are primarily working on the art along with some coding touch ups it seems. My interpretation of "pretty soon" is somewhere between a few days and 1.5 weeks, though I could easily be wrong.
It's getting there pretty quickly. At this point we're primarily working towards getting some art stuff finished up and pushing in a few wires. We're looking to lift the NDA pretty soon

re'sthing. I can't give you guys a solid definitive answer right now. There's three or four things currently getting juggled and up in the air that need to land so I can point names and name fingers. All the signs point to said juggled stuff not landing until at least next week. Or at least some of these things, at which point I can let you guys know what's been happening and why things are in their current status. We've got some promising positive stuff in there, some explanations too, and somecompromises. Sometimes things don't go according to initial plan (we wanted to release in April, for example), but that doesn't by any means, ways, shapes or forms dictate that everything'scaught on fire and panic should take over. Come on guys. We've dev'dthrough snow, storms, and whatnots, and we still exist. We ain't going tosuddenly give up and go "welp, guessthat's that".
Latest forum post by a dev. Make of it what you will because my estimates have been way off.

Stuff being juggled and not landing until next week? Even after such a long silence? We need some hitstun decay up in here if shit's being juggled for this long even with the gravity scaling modifiers.

Jokes aside, what's up with "pointing names" and "naming fingers" (Whatever the heque that means?) What happened? Insubordination? Publisher scumbaggery......? Why there gotta be a fall guy?

I'm excited for an explanation, at least, but "and some compromises" has got me more than a bit worried. Why can't he talk now...? Are all those typos in the original post? I'm worried if he's getting enough sleep.

I'm so confused.

The original post is on tfh's own forum under news. This was in response to people complaining about the lack of transparency and delays. The beta does get updated constantly, as testers and devs have said.

Well, the lack of transparency is really worrying. Something must have happened that they're ashamed of. They would do well to continue to take after Lab Zero and just come clean.

I just hope the project hasn't plunged into free-fall.

Not really? Why else would they go incognito for a period of time approaching 1/3th of a year, completely stop streaming, keep the beta players under NDA unnecessarily so they can't talk, and generally be very silent and avoidey about the state of development?

I've been around people, this is how they act when shit's gone down. Well, weak people at least. Whatever happened, they need to be the bigger ungulate about it.

We'll just have to drop the assumptions for a week and wait and see what they have to say.

I've been following this team since they announced Fighting is Magic, and "opacity" is basically their middle name. I think it's dumb and only hurts them, but being secretive is how they like to operate, and I wouldn't worry too much.

"Assumption: The Post"

I didn't back them but I just wanna play the damn game lol

barring unforeseen circumstances out of our control (i.e. the end of the world as we know it, or ungulates taking over the earth).

Well there is that September 23rd Revelations prophecy, so I could see both happening at once (Because, you know, the Lamb Of God)

Glad we got a date.

Aw, no Linux at launch? :(

why do I get the sinking feeling that any time devs put the port off for later it always ends up in development hell

NDA will lift soon so keep a lookout.

Just a note: people are planning to bring TFH setups to CEOTaku now that the NDA's lifted, so interested persons should keep a lookout.

Another thing: the Devs' last 2 releases had something in common: when they say they'll release something on a given day, the release is pretty much not going to happen until 11:59 PM PST that day.

Another delay till Feb. I don't see why they aren't releasing the beta to backers.

nah, to all backers, not just the beta backers.

TBH I was pretty doubtful seeing the general state of the game and how short of a timespan to launch

still waiting on that game actually to come out

I see aerial reverse beats!
I feel it's worth mentioning that those aren't a thing. You just saw either Olly doublejump-canceling or Tian airdash-canceling. Pom can both float- and airdash-cancel, too. You *can* sorta reverse-beat grounded mediums to 6A and back into mediums again, but only once per chain.

...Okay yeah that's definitely an airdash cancel for Tian.

But somehow I'm still not used to the idea of jump-cancels even though I've been using them all the time this past week. >.>

This game looks like it does everything right for me. I like the animation, the color, the speed, the art style...but then i remember it's ponies...
