Indivisible: Lab Zero's Action-RPG! (General Discussion)

Well it's too bad that we won't see the game this year. But it is what it is and I hope that this delay will give LabZero the breathing room they need to make the game that they really want to.

And the work we've seen so far has been pretty good so more time to work on the game can only mean good things.

So I just want to say that you guys have my support and I look forward to the final product!

Well with how things were progressing I was half-expecting a delay.

No biggie, I have other games I want coming out in that time-frame.

Yeah, I figured a delay was coming, especially when the Backer Preview took a while to come out last year. I'm just glad they confirmed it now and didn't wait until the AX panel or something. They'll still have a lot of cool things to show off later in the year, and hopefully this means they'll have more time to work through player feedback as well.

If it needs more time to be amazing, I'm cool with waiting some extra time.

Pre-production ended like January last year, I haven't been able to understand how they'd deliver the game they promised if it released this year, so I'm happy to see the delay since it means they'll be able to put out what they want to put out instead of rushing. New stuff looks great as always, very excited for the game. Hope funding doesn't run out on them though, not sure to how to feel about the Skullgirls royalties bit.

I'm interested to know more about this new Lead Level Designer and new Lead Writer though, @Ravidrath is that something you can share at this point?

"We're sorry we can't cut any content"

You can apologize for the delay but it's weird to apologize for picking a delay over cutting whole areas. :P

Why are there emotions attached to using SG royalties to help fund the Indivisible extension?

We're a business, we have business obligations, and sometimes we have to spend other money to meet those obligations.

As for the lead level designer and writer...

Mike was basically the lead level designer on top of all of his other duties, and it just wasn't a feasible way to finish the game.

Similar situation for the new lead writer.

We previously has three writers, and I was going to do the final unification and editing. But between running the company, marketing, PR and social media leading up to launch, and working to sign our next project, we decided it was too risky to not have a dedicated writer to finish up the game.

It's alright. Times weren't feasible imho. A bit worried about the money but hopefully you guys can figure it out. I hope. :S

Can you confirm if the new writer it's not Anthony Burch? I hate that guy and how he fills shit to the brim with memes.

Kind of a paranoid, pretentious, disrespectful question but bear with me. I didn't put money on this game only for someone to pour unfunny memes on it.

Best wishes Zab Lero. This project is turning out to be awesome and I can't stop thinking about when it comes out and what people like Dunkey will say about it.

Speaking of which, when are we finally going to meet this Question fella? Are you guys waiting until you open up the Indivisible forums to handle community stuff?

We'll have some blog posts from the new lead writer and lead level designer before too long.

And anything with the official site is a sore point right now. We've been trying to get it improved for some time.

505 just hired a new community guy, though, so hopefully he can help kick off the official forums.

I'm fine with delays i just hope they don't have to animate for pennies again.

Same. I wouldn't want another Kuntnami scenario.

Good! Don't look him up though. Not a good sight.

I understand this, I just feel like you guys already didn't get what you deserve for your work on SG.

And I understood the purpose of new staff, I was just asking if we could have details about them at this point, which it appears we can not. Looking forward to whatever updates are coming.

I can understand why more time is needed, take as long as you need. I know that in the end this game will be really good, and it will be thanks to your hard work.

That was a good interview. It was nice to finally hear a little more detail about how the writing process has gone, especially how they've put a good amount of thought into the "voice" of the characters. Knowing that the new level designer was someone who was willing to critique their current work is good too.

It's too bad that the Previews have required so much time on the side though. Ultimately all of this effort to avoid spoilers will be for the best when the finished game is out, but since it'll be a much longer road from June to release than from November to now, I'm sure a lot of people would love to have at least one more Update to look forward to over the course of the delay.

We spent way too much time on the Backer Previews so far, and so the Update is going to be the last thing until the game's out. It just has to be.

I had hoped to do one more, but after this point they're just going to be a massive distraction from getting the game done, and we can't afford to do that again.

Yeah we definitely don't want you guys stretched thin again. I'm sure people are still going to want to ask about more Preview Updates later this year though, so just be sure to reiterate the situation very clearly in the upcoming blog posts so there's no confusion.

Hopefully the Preview Update, along with all of the cool stuff you guys show off by the end of this year, will be enough to tide everyone over, and show the impact of their feedback. I'm looking forward to playing all of the new stuff!

I don't mind waiting on the full game, but please tell me I'll at least get to play the preview on Linux this time.

I mean, the Backer Preview update has everything we'd like feedback on, which are mostly the battle system changes.

So if we did another update it'd mostly be focused on new content, and I'm seeing a lot of people that aren't playing the Backer Previews at all because they're afraid of spoilers.

I find that odd since you guys have been pretty upfront about the fact you're not putting story spoilers or even certain character abilities in since they're being considered spoilers. I guess some people want to go completely blind, but it's still odd to call whatever we are getting in the preview a spoiler. Only thing I can even think of from the first Preview build that could be anything was those tree enemies specifically were after Razmi, and as far as I know that might have just been a thing for the preview.

I am glad we're getting the update, excited to get my hands on the updated combat, but also pretty glad to hear that the decision has been made to not update the preview further so it doesn't take time away from the game. I'd always rather more work go in to the final product than it losing some of that work for the sake of getting content early.

Some people get pretty paranoid about spoilers of any kind, which I can kind of understand, but I think it's a big problem when some of these people also decide not to read regular development updates either. That's just a really bad habit for anyone who backs a project.

I mean, the Backer Preview update has everything we'd like feedback on, which are mostly the battle system changes. So if we did another update it'd mostly be focused on new content
Content-wise, it sounds like this Update is giving us plenty of new stuff to chew on, so I agree it sounds like a good stopping point there. However, a lot of the more vocal feedback I remember seeing for the current Preview was actually regarding things like control options, odd camera movements, general bugs/performance problems, and stuff like that (oh yeah, and Linux port). So, if the new Update doesn't iron out some of those issues for them, then I think that's where you're probably going to be seeing requests for a patch of some kind later on.

Of course, most people don't realize how much trouble it is just to get patches and bugfixes out, especially on console, but maybe addressing some of that kind of feedback directly in a later blog update/video would be enough. Hopefully this Preview Update will have already addressed most of those old concerns though.

Still deeply hoping he is voiced by Alfonso Ribeiro

He looks cool but I'm kind of bummed it seems likely Toko and Kaldi are either unplayable or just out. I'll just keep in mind how rad Zahra and Kampan sound to play and that Sangmu got in.

Game will still he fantastic though, can't wait for that new preview build. Can wait for 2019 though, while excited.

Well, don't get your hopes down just yet, friend. The update also mentioned that there will be 25 total incarnations to choose from, which INCLUDES Backer Incarnations. There may be hope yet for the characters that weren't announced (at least for three of them, if I'm not mistaken)

Gotta say, though, this design is significantly improved from the previous one, and I'm genuinely intrigued in his character more now. I get the sense they incorporated a lot of George's design into this newer version, based on the plated vest and spear. Definitely makes me optimistic for what's coming up. :)

Also, the cape design, I take it he is obviously our dragon slayer now?

Pretty sure we've revealed 22 characters now in some way, shape or form.

For example, we did animation streams with Leilani and Sangmu, so those count as reveals.

Oh Antoine's new design looks pretty sweet. Was actually assuming he'd be one of the cut characters because his initial design didn't seem to be well received, but it's nice to see him with a much more appealing look at least from my perspective.

Still, kind of sad that this means other characters that I liked more might not get into the final product. Hopefully Kogi and or Tatanka make the cut.

Well according to what we've been told, this is the list of characters that have been confirmed to be playable:
Zebei, Tungar, Razmi, Dhar, Ginseng & Honey, Qadira, Baozhai, Phoebe, Latigo, Ren, Naga Rider, Yan, Nuna, Thorani, Lanshi, Sangmu, Leilani, Kampan, Zahra, Kushi & Altun

Of course, we have seen other characters that have been animated. But we never actually got confirmation that they were playable characters. So I'm guessing that this means
Hunoch/Xiboch and Zubaz are playable.

Zubaz is a boss.

If this is the final reveal until release, I'm guessing the remaining characters are being kept secret for a reason. They're probably not any of the concepts we've previously seen, but something new that'd be a spoiler.

You left Antoine out of your list, which would bring it to 21.

So only one open slot.

They're the three Backer Incarnations, and yeah, we wanted to keep them secret.

The other open slot is Hunoch, because I'm pretty sure it was confirmed in tweets he's replacing Tenoch.

Oh that's right.

Well guess we already got all we're going to get from the initial revealed roster then.

And we all thought Antoine was axed haha.
I love how L0 fused George into Antoine, he looks so badass now. New favorite.

Time to mourn my old favorite characters not making it in, but I'll still enjoy the game anyways. Can't wait to see what the backer characters are like.

Holy crap Antoine is not as bpring as it used to be.

Sad to see maybe Toko won't make it :(

Thanks for the list! I was going over it last night, but knew I had some incorrect.

I need more info on Sangmu~

I'm gonna make a quick list of where each incarnation was revealed just in case anyone wants to find em.
In Backer Preview: Tungar, Razmi, Zebei, Dhar, Gingseng and Honey, Qadira
Blog post on the indivisible site: Ren, Zahra, Kampan, Naga Rider, Latigo, Yan, Nuna, Baozhai, Phoebe
Animation Streams: Thorani, Leilani, Lanshi, Sangmu, Kushi and Altun
Twitter: Antoine

Unsure (Had animation stream): Hunoch and Xiboch

That should be all 22, I think.
8 guys, 13 gals, 2 animals, and a radish
