Valentine Combo Thread

mine does the same damage without the FP FP
is there something that makes it more damaging?

That's the old raw version of it, just about everything strong midscreen combo is a variate of it, even yours minus the dash j.HP since j.HK only adds 10 more damage overall. lol

are those actually dash jumps? THAT'S why I could never get that style of combo >_<
so yeah, my combo should be MUCH easier than that one

one great thing about the combo as well, with all the air dashes, you can j.LK cross up reset most characters
also worth mentioning, you can stop the last string early and do a late super in order to launch them back into the corner

It's the same difficultly really, you can even dash during it since it just j.HK instead of j.HP, main differences is j.HP is more consistent and it's faster meaning any reset attempt is more rapid.
 
Wait, could someone clarify what he means by "dash jumps"? I'm really worried that all of my woes could be coming from not noticing something incredibly simple now ... Back to the lab T_T

Edit: Yes, OmniSScythe has confirmed my worst fears... mom lied when she said it was only half a flight of stairs. Oh well :-/

@Crow When you jump during a dash you get to carry the momentum with you.
So by "dash jumps" during combos I mean dash and jump to follow up.

Pretty much this, mostly the beginning up to the part with the dash jumps are finished when most people mention pulsr combo.

So, can I use this combo, or it doesn't work anymore?

I was trying to transbribe the notations, hopefully I got it right?

My combo with it is:

cr.lk, cr.mk, cr.hp,
j.hp, AD, j.mp, j.hp,
dash j.mk, j.hp,
dash j.lp, j.mp, j.hp,
s.mp(2), cr.mk, cr.hp, (this part can also just be done as "s.mp(1), delay s.mk (1) > cr.hp" to adjust height)
j.lk, j.mp, j.hp,
s.lp (3), s.mp(1) s.hp, HK Savage Bypass,
s.lk, st.mp(2), cr.mk, s.hp, HK Savage Bypass, EKG Flatliner
 
just realized that vs lights you probably have to drop the second hit of j.MK in the j.MK, j.HK, dash j.HP vs lighter character
 
I can't get the fking dash jumps to make the combo work mid-screen and it's making me rage. I've even tried double tap stick dashing instead of my usual 2 punch dash. Can I see a stick or list input in addition to all these button notations to help with the timing? I mean, we are in MDE and all...

Try timing the input like this, forward just before touching the ground then forward > up forward.
 
There isn't really an easy way to do dash cancels. You just gotta do it. They're hard for me too but I usually take a step back and try to think about what I'm pressing as opposed to going auto pilot.

This combo is 4610 damage with EKG Flatliner.

"Your combo" is following the steps of already optimized combos and will continue to follow in their tracks as the combo gets extended because you left out a LOT in between the j.hk and 3x s.hk

you need to do air loops and exhaust your air starters:
c.lk c.mk c.hp
j.mp j.hk AD j.mp j.hk (mp gone)
j.lp j.mp j.hk AD j.lk(1) j.hk (j.lp and j.lk gone leaving j.mk and j.hp and j.hk to start with if you wanna get creative)
Land s.lp(3) cr.lk(4) s.mp(9) s.mk(5) s.hk(3) yea it bleeds hits into scaling but you end up with more damage than just going to hk x3

TL;DR Just learn the optimized combos people have found and start experimenting with those. >_>

The problem isn't what I'm pressing, it's when I'm pressing it. Too late and the combo drops (I get the dash jump and the attack hits while they're in the air, but no combo), too early and I get an airdash. I've tried dashing what feels like a couple of frames before I hit the ground and absolutely no dash comes out so I'm at a loss.

Try timing the input like this, forward just before touching the ground then forward > up forward.
First time I tried that, I tiger knee'd it instead and got a super jump. The j.mk connected but it ended there. Made me laugh. Just thought I'd share that.
Found out I'm not coordinated enough for stick dashing like that so I tried a few more times with 2 punch buttons. Got it to connect twice.

If your mid screen combo does less than 5.1k damage then it's not good.

c.lk c.mk c.HP j.HP (ADF) j.HP Savage Bypass EKG Flatliner does that much and the combo is ridiculously simple.

EDIT: I have been emasculated, someone else found a universal Assist Kill combo only an hour before I discovered the same one...well at least it sames me the effort of making the video.

NICE! I've always wondered what people did if they couldn't make it to the corner....NOOWWWWW just gotta figure out wtf to do with squigs.....hmmmm

P.S. I actually been messing around with val w/fedora ninja, one of my bestest bros and we found some verrrryy interesting val stuff. some burst baits too. One of them I'm sure has been found already since it swags so hard...but I'll show it later or post up notation later....most likely a video.
 
Not sure to make a new thread or not but here's a val combo with the new ips
 
just skip the Hk part, but if you want a new combo it might take a while because Val got hit really hard with the ips

I'm using the lk version but it's pretty hard to time also that part of the combo doesn't work on double if your doing it on her

Btw you could probably do a little bit more damage with
*land* j.lp j.mp j.hp xx dead cross/vial
instead of
*land* j.lp j.mp(x3) j.mp

I've gotta say as a newbie who gets stuck in combos a lot. This is far more appealing to look at than j.hp loops.

Here's a new combo under ips experiment #3 it does 8.9k damage. It needs to start with a green vial
 
People...seriously can we get some good mid screen combos w/new IPS in here????? I'm more than confident corner combos will be fine. My thing are mid screen ones. Not discounting what people posted. Can't wait to try then in fact!

Well that's nice for anyone using squigly and has hitstop loaded up, but sadly not the most practical; especially at 7k with 1 bar.

Maybe we could develop her midscreen reset game a bit more as well (communally, as opposed to hoarding tech). Her air mobility is crazy good so we should take advantage of that with resets and combos that make it hard to tell when a reset is coming.

well valentine's midscreen combo game got hurt really bad with that update so that was the best I could do also the combo works with any pressure assist with the possible exception of cerecopter and it isn't hard to load a vial during the match

New beta patch said that hitstop vial is gonna reduce undizzy. I like undizzy and I also like this idea.
