I guess it's technically okay to write stuff here.

Notes to self:
There are alternate assists that don't use hp like lk mp and mp hk it's good when don't want the head to move (although alternatively I can just hold hp so the head doesn't move but then I'd be pressing one more button.)

You can use assist calls and negative edge a special with the assist macros. Why is this useful? I dunno just seems cool. (I just like to el gato in the air and call updo)

As soon as I restand anyone and start to do s.hk with valentine on the second hit I can just press mp hk and double with the second s.hk will come out together instead of having to hit hk a second time AND touch the assist button.

I forgot other things to tell myself but eventually I'll remember write them down for myself. They're just shortcuts I guess.

since this is a training diary I guess I should actually look into matches too

Before I forget:
I can just punish a super by just using my launcher/strong attacks instead of doing the usual starts and not grab.
don't upback?
I already forgot the rest actually. :c

EDIT: Something I noticed when I reviewed the salty match footage.
I tend to j.hp as double a lot which is the worst idea ever.

Not every character necessarily needs to do this in every situation, just be conscious of how your character/combo scales. Sometimes it's not optimal, sometimes it's worth it for carry or some other consideration, sometimes it's best.

No it's great, just be careful.

I had to watch a lot of Negus matches and Keninblack's personal streaming before I realized that 90% of playing Double is just empty jumping around everywhere until you feel safe/comfortable throwing an airthrow, assist that you can convert from, or j.HP out.

To quote @mcpeanuts, "...you just kind of herp jump and derp j.HP with Double. if you get a derp hit great, but if you derp j.HP and they blocked it, you're still in there."

It's true, I do say that. If j.HP is getting blocked that's still mostly fine, it's when it's whiffing or you're getting counter hit out of it that you're in frowntown. Just space it correctly so it connects at the tip of the saw and you're golden.

j.hk is a good way to say "fuck off" with double sometimes (by sometimes I mean it can leave double open sometimes but well spaced it's awesome.) or at least that's how I've seen it work for me.

For some reason they forget avery is still active when I guard or go for a low and it gets a free overhead or counter-hit for me at times. Sometimes Avery will still be around to counter while I try j.hp and leads to a combo.

For some reason when I get a hit with double I can actually follow up on the hit, I guess barrel loops are just really easy.

I have a silly habit of doing j.lk NO ADC j.lk cr.lk it sorta works but it leaves me vulnerable against a REAL player. I can just j.lp j.lk j.mp ADC (I forgot what goes before j.mp) j.mp for a crossunder which is probably more worth it anyway. (even a grab is probably a better idea) This is with fortune btw.

Still can't deal with super neutral players (I like to call them cowards but that isn't fair of me) I can never figure when they're open as they back up. Fiber usually does the trick. Do more of that like everyone tells you to.

I call Filia at the stupidest times. I'm not sure why but I shouldn't. STOP THAT STUFF IT'S A BAD IDEA.

DHCs are the worst online for some reason it's waaaaaaaaay different from training mode so the timing is always wrong.

EDIT: I call this post Stuff whines like a bitch but hopefully decides to better himself

Did you know that DHCs are just inputting the next character's super? I didn't.

Also that you can shake out of stagger? I still didn't.

I seem to have trouble with Painwheel I know it's Fortune's worst match up but there has to be SOMETHING I can do to her other than my air super I just can't figure out what it is. (maybe PBGC Fiber hehehe...)

She's so high up... and I'm down here.

Er.. so after getting wrecked by bit strife I was kinda hoping I could maybe get some notes on what I should've done (including what I could've followed up with instead dropping the combo because I always forget what to do sometimes ;_;) Maybe silly mistakes you might've noticed? Really any form of input would help me, I'd just like more eyes on something rather than just mine in case I missed something.

I dunno how to embed a video with a specific time frame =/ <-- so click that for the specific time.

I was told stuff like:
Don't use the head to attack cerecopter. Don't leave the head near cerecopter. There was lot's of advice on cerecopter but I often forget what I read/hear so it would be nice to see advice in written form here so I can go back to this thread from time to time and remember the things I often forget. There were also times where I super'd by mistake those were caused by my silly habit of cr.lk to mk el gato which often leads to a negative edged super. hehe oops.

ALSO: if you are a Squigly and/or Painwheel player, I would like to fight you because I have 0 experience with them. Maybe parasoul too.

The easiest thing to fix is your execution. Practice combos until you can do them with no sound and without looking at the screen. You're execution is a serious issue because if you can't combo and can't DP you are just gonna die.

On top of that you were up backing way too much and letting him set up his bella assist and push you into the corner. It seemed like you were in complete panic mode, if you didn't have hornet bomber you would have been completely wrecked when you kept up backing. Also you need to not get locked down by cerecopter and get stuck jn a low/throw mix up, or worse (luckily he didn't have anything other than a low/throw mix up). Just rewatch duck's vods and see how he moves with filia and how he uses bomber. Those are good distances and good things to do. And for fortune, well for now it would really help if you knew a headless combo bnb.

A bnb is a combo you can pull out in any situation, it's something you can fall back on when you're nervous because you know it so well. If you think you're a momentum based player then you NEED to have combos and resets that keep your momentum.

Please learn combos... I don't care how short. I don't care whether or not it's optimized. Just learn something consistent. And PLEASE STOP UP-BACKING WHEN YOU ARE ON THE OFFENSIVE. Honestly, I cringed every time you up-backed after a launcher, or how you were playing Filia as if she has no approach options.

Well there is this I've been trying to do for a while

I can't for the life of me get the final el gato hit because I guess I take too long or something. But with each try found more neat stuff I can do instead of the burst thingy.

It goes cr.lk s.mk s.hp j.lk j.hp ADC j.lk j.hp j.lp j.mk j.hp cat spike cr.lk headbutt (dash and get closer on the headbutt) s.lpx2 s.mk s.hk hk el gato
.....................................................................|.....|................................|-> cat slide resulting in a reset and super OR grab
.....................................................................|.....|................................|-> dash undneath cr.lk (and a combo that's short enough not to trigger undizzy) it can lead to another bait
.....................................................................|.....|-> adc j.lp (another bait)
.....................................................................|-> adc grab (j.lp instead might also go here for mind games only just thought of this just now) nope

It's something. (The damage leaves something to be desired but eh) I'd say it gives maximum mind games but who knows.

The dash underneath the cr.lk is also a reset if that wasn't clear.

The best thing you can learn that will add at least 1k to all of your impro vcombos is to zoom the head towards you before you do an air super. Once you get the hit and launh them all you have to do is do your air chain into mk axe kick, quickly zoom the head closer, then do the super. This gives you a free sandwich loop because the head is always at most 1 zoom away from a good position. Of course if you watched Khaos's tutorials you should already know this.

I have also been testing sandwich loops into mk rekka into zoom behind me, then rekka super. If you make sure to hold hp you can put the head in a position to get a nom for combo continuation after the super, or do a burst bait like hk axe kick. Your most glaring weakness in your fortune combo game right now is a complete inability to utilize the head for anything but zoomnom starters.

I noticed all the good fortune's like to use dp. I guess I should use dp more or something...

I've been trying to do the head juggle thing camail did because I like silly style stuff. While I can't do it like camail does I find that headless launcher > mk fiber can sorta do the same thing although you are higher than you would be if you did it the real way. Still have an otg and a dash cancel so there's probably a way to keep the head juggle using the air dash or something.

I was supposed to write something else but I'm sure it'll come to me later.

throw cr.lk s.hp j.hp j.hk hk hairball j.mk j.hp s.mk cr.hp fake ringlet s.lp s.lk s.mp cr.mp s.hk hk hairball fenrir
too lazy to open up notepad

Note to self: write more things here.

Using a real dp ASSIST feels good ;__; I hate to admit it but while the conversions from devil horns are godlike it rarely hits and I don't see a buff coming anytime soon (please make devil horns 5f so it's less of a read and timing thing)

I still don't know what combo is.

It feels like I'm not wasting an assist slot and practically hindering myself.

If you mean actually using a dp I can't dp at all but eventually I noticed I don't really need it until top players kept beating me. I still can't dp reliably.

If you mean dp assist I just really like hearing cerebella say "EXCELLENT!" or "ROCK 'N ROLL!" also the assist itself isn't bad it just needs to be timed properly since it has only 3 active frames and they show up a little later than other dp assists.

Fortune/Devil horns/H Brass Knuckles makes zoner fortune cool again. I COULD use a real dp assist but I don't like the characters that have them. I find their fight style to be very boring.

I should probably actually learn to combo with the rest of my characters rather than purely bait supers/throw all the time maybe then everyone will fall under my uh... greatness. Although at the same time I don't want to because I don't like using them so I attempt to make zoner fortune better and better until I don't even need to worry about losing fortune at all but that's far from possible. When's Robo and Eliza those are the ones I really want to play as with fortune.

Also severin is a big jerk, never lets me do anything! >:c

Also another thing:
Don't bait super when they can dhc into cat heads, it's just not worth it. Bait every other super though that's all anyone knows how to do anyway.

Dont bait air scalpels that's 0 on block unless you are gonna AC into something that can hit me lolololol

Uh when fukua does cr.hk it's always gonna be crossup super DON'T FORGET THIS, STUFF. If you remember that fukua dies faster, promise.

Also the savarin is pretty godlike.

actually not always. but generally at this point yes just block it

Goose won't fall for baits ;__; what a jerk >:(

But I got those now so that's cool.

Also uh be sure to work on your assist characters even though you don't really like using them.

(I'd probably win tons more matches if I bothered to do that.)

What are training diaries for again?

I dunno, to put it in writing that you know what's wrong and how you aim to fix it? Maybe put down how you did fix it so other might learn? Get a second opinion? To vent mostly I imagine.

Goal for life:

Try to stop playing Jet Set Radio and actually practice this game.

Pfft I'm not gonna do that.

Real Goals:

Learn assist characters because they run on sheer autopilot and lame reads

Get inputs to work on netplay because even qcfs are me asking my arms for the moon. Although these may be rushed inputs

Maybe get used having a really loose stick (how do people live like that)

Figure out when the heck I can cancel my air dash into a normal or if it's an input error, fix it.

Get used to the fact that I can't see those tiny dots that say when you can use your assist.

Stop setting your buttons wrong. It's killing me, man. ;__;

My new throw conversion seems to be working pretty great it works with nearly every assist (you know the cool ones.) just not h hairball but who uses that am I right? (It actually does 5.2k if you do s.mp before s.mk on the last chain but the combo after it isn't the point it just shows that you can convert with head on
/shameless plug
My super cool bait is getting old though ;__; But man does it feel good when beat extend catches them after bursting.

bb needs to be less jump and cymbals
double is... I dunno what my double is.
fortune though i gotta figure out which version of her is best for certain situations because sometimes one form gets beat pretty bad.

and uh, pw hurts a lot.

Uh don't forget to work on neutral because you need that. I heard it's good for you.

Headless kinda sucks, long live Head-on.

Correction: My headless sucks, but long live my head-on.

Is there any way to buff individual players? I could use one.

Notes: I should make more super cool baits and maybe figure out this reset business. So if I somehow forget that later that's why I write these down.
I should also mess with more assists that benefit my style, whatever that is.
Uh can't really remember anything else I want to work on that I may forget so... sorry future me.
