Ok, really, I just mean people perfectly predicting obvious moves. How do you become unpredictable? I just feel like everything I do is in vain because they counter it like it's nothing.

dont do the same thing over and over, It becomes blatantly obvious what you are doing

Easier said than done, isn't it impossible to fight without repeating some things? Since it's your style of fighting? I don't know, I think I just may be noobish.

When someone goes for a divekick and when you parry with your arms and they open your arms a go for your head, do a headbutt instead of pulling the head back.

well yah but if you mix up your resets and burst baits they might fall for some

Hard to do when they pretty much anticipate it.... Resets maybe, but Burst Baits are pretty easy to see.
Then you're probably not using the right burst baits. There are some that are meant to catch people mashing and others that are meant to coax a bad burst.

The only burst baits I know are Filia's s.HP after a high wall bounce, and Squigly's c.HP from a dive kick. (And Painwheel... She does that thing >.>)
And the really convoluted Val Burst Bait where you do Reverse DP Super and keep them frozen xD

Ok so the first thing I noticed is you mash reversal after you get hit. This is from prior experience playing against you. When you saw me catch on and start baiting you, it's important to just stop. Instead make me regret my bait by applying pressure yourself. You didn't do too bad at neutral. You hit me a few times but you didn't convert very well. You also jump a lot so I started air grabbing you. Basically when you play against someone, it is important to notice their habits and what they react to so you can counter them. I wouldn't exactly call it changing your strategy, to me it's just adapting. For example normally I don't mash reversals, but if I fought you and you got me in a combo and went for a reset, I would mash one out because from experience I know you wouldn't bait it. So after I do it once, would adapt and and bait my reversal.

Well, I would have at least tried and reset or burst bait if I was able to get a good combo in, but it seems like you just knew what I was going to do next. I also noticed PW's Air Grab beat Squigly's j.MK, I have no idea how frames work though, so...

Basically train until you can be "psychic" yourself. All fighters come down to strategy in the end, really, so how much you can predict is pretty much always the deciding factor. Try to think critically and keep playing and you'll get better and better at it.

I've been playing SG since about early 2013, and I'm just an all offence person. I can't predict people, and I can't even block well.... I'm just all around not good :o

How do you think people good at this game / games in general / anything became good? By sitting down and saying "I'm not good at it"?
I'unno D: I feel I'll never get better unless someone decides to sit down with me in a match and walk me through everything I'll need to know.

That's how I do it.

Sorry to say this but what you're looking for comes with time and experience. This means you have to deal with losing, and losing a lot.

To answer your initial question this is what I did at least. Every time I would lose neutral, or get hit by a reset, or lose, or have a reset of mine blocked I took a mental note of it every sing time. For example:He beat me at neutral when I did THIS I'm gonna try THIS next time its trial and error you see. Try to not lose the same way every time, experiment and hold your loses because they will in return make you better. At least, if you're paying any attention.

All you have to do is ask. I did this for three people this week already. whether it stuck with them or not im not sure, but I'd be happy to do that for you if you want.

There is no magical strategy guide anyone can give you on this front to make you better (believe me, I've looked lol). Reading/Strategy is really one of those fundamental skills (in the same way reflexes, execution, precision, multitasking, etc. are), and fundamental skills are something that you can't gain by being born with them or reading in a book how to do it. You have to build them up overtime and maintain them through practice.

My advice would be don't play with people who are infinitely better than you and can't be touched, but don't play with people you find to be easy mode either. Play with people who you find very difficult but winning is still possible. And try to do so while thinking critically about what you're doing and why during the match. Keep playing and eventually you'll build up those skills.

I know what you mean, there aren't many people who I can go up against who are around my weird skill level. But thank you very much for the advise.

Well, this thread helped! I'll take into account what everyone's said, thank you. I'll try my best to get better...
Well, if Parasoul doesn't make me cringe to death...

Think about everything you do. Every action, and whether or not there's a possible counter solution a) On Reaction and b) On Prediction.

If there is a possible counter solution that can be done on reaction, like reaction Super/DP, then it's not really a good option to begin with. Make sure what you're trying to do isn't a gimmick to a player that's awake.

If there is no possible counter solution on reaction, then it's a pretty safe option. This can be anything from jumping forward, to doing a tick-throw, to sticking out a poke, to firing a projectile, to jumping in with a normal. However, this doesn't mean your out of the woods. Players can make hard reads against your options in order to pick them apart. In some cases, they can use safe, unreactable options of their own in order to preemptively stuff your chosen options.

A great example of this is Peacock's options at range. She can call Item Drop on prediction to a jump. People who approach predictably will have a hard time even leaving the ground.

If you keep doing the same non-reactable option, your opponent is naturally going to try to intercept it on prediction, however that may happen. It's not that they're psychic, but they see a solution to a common option you use. They're choosing from their own armory of options and are betting that you're going to jump in that same way you did before, or press that button you favour, or do that special move that's + on block.

Very few things in this game can be done without recourse. Most situations like that usually involve assist cover.

Look at everything you do, and how you do it. Look for patterns, then remove/obfuscate them.
