Is anyone running completely obvious and telegraphed burst bait/air throw mixups? As in like, otg, launch, then either a late hit with a disjointed normal that is gonna trigger IPS (e.g. filia's j.LP) or a "meaty" airthrow? Can people with good reactions just wait and do a delayed throw tech? Do burst bait based mixups generally need to have some confusion to them to work or can you really get them to be a standard thing that is supposed to still work if the guy has seen it a hundred times?

I think your question would be better suited to the general gameplay thread, since it's more about strategy than techniques specifically but knockdown based burst baits are one way to use them reliably.

I used to run a throw/burst bait mixup with cerebella. I do think it's a solid mixup as long as there's not much time to react. It's handy to have in your toolset against people who like to mash out supers during your combos as well.

As I mentioned in the previous post, knockdown based burst baits can also be solid since even if they don't take the bait, you keep them from teching and can then do a mixup when they get up.

I've also seen people use a variation on the idea in your post where they trigger IPS with a low hitstun move such as a jab and use it to set up a tick throw. This way if the person was mashing throw tech or super which would beat a throw reset normally, they just burst and knock you back into neutral.

I use exactly one burst-bait and its incredibly obvious. Its an OTG at the end of my Squigly B&B that's there to force them not to tech-roll and to add a little extra damage. If they try to press a button to tech-roll they get a burst and I kill them.

If they happen to be not paying attention and actually burst then its a dead character, so that's a plus but I don't expect that to happen against good players.
