Fukua Robo Fortune Big Band
Hope there's not already a topic on this that I missed.
I like using a lot of the cast of this game, but know I need to focus on a few for optimal results.
The character's playstyle, personality & how compatible they are w/me are factors.
I've been using the three w/icons on the left and Fortune & Bella.
Bella's my weakest, but a lot of fun. I keep switching between all five & varying team sizes. I think Fortune might replace Peacock...
Two people might be best for me because of assists, DHCs, and two life bars, while also being able to dish out & take more damage than a 3-person team.

As always thanks for reading, and enjoy the game.

I've got 4 characters I like right now, and I'm never going anything other than ratio 1 in non-practice games.

Oh, and of the 4 I like to play, Double isn't one of them, so I technically have 5 characters I can play. I just plan to have a couple of shells for different matchups and roll like that.

Yes, I'm still figuring out mine for sure. I've been playing since PC release and I've went through the entire cast.

As it stands, Parasoul is someone I have no intention of dropping, I can safely say I've found my main.
Cerebella is someone I love playing.. but I'm considering dropping, finally, but for who, I'm still not sure.
And it might be that initial love of playing a new character, but Eliza is AMAZINGLY appealing to me and the synergy I feel I get with her and Para OR Bella is fantastic.

Para/Eliza is what I'm looking at, but honestly as much as duos can be fun, I'm addicted to trios now. I need that third.

I'm replaying -everyone- on the cast as of late to find a suitable replacement for Cerebella, if there is one. Perhaps Beowulf or Robo Fortune will be it.
What I've found is that what matters the most to me is who I have the most fun playing as.

I change teams more often than I change socks.

I love everyone. Everyone in SG is so fucking cool and I just wanna learn all their combos and resets and FUCK THEY'RE SO COOL.

I feel like I stick with Valentine and Double most often though.

I've dabbled about outside playing Peacock and Painwheel and I really want to try more chracters, but I'm a wuss and a total lame-ass that won't do anything until the basic playstyle of another character is presented right in front of my face.

Since the game's launch i had been on the Parasoul/xxx/double train but never really finding a 2nd i liked, and never really enjoying playing double but accepting the fact that her ass is the best Parasoul assist.

After a bit of a hiatus I discovered how much I liked playing Valentine, and I really, REALLY like Eliza; plus she seems to have good assist options for Val. Throw in updo Filia for my 2nd BAM i have a new team

To me sg is basically in an st phase at the moment. St is a game that can be very counter picky unless you have a sure high character mastery of one of the top tier. So to me, if you dont use val with a dp assist or peacock with one, both charcters perhaps the bet in the game, then you may not have a team that you can stick with in all matchups.

Sg is mutable to me. I can play painwheel, parasoul, and double at a decently high level in my opinion. I can play that particular team with any of those characters at the point position. I also have a decent peacock (my fourth best character) and dabble a bit in fortune. My character crisis right now is that im in the process of picking up fukua and/or val.

The way i see it, as long as i dont have val point on my team or get better with peacock, i will always have a character crisis of bad matchups... And i feel like anyone that doesnt have these characters on their team, will, at least to a certain extent, as well. This of course assumes that the player wants to try and win every match and not just learn how to get closer to winning. Its all good to learn to get closer to winning in a bad matchup, than actually winning, but when there are stakes to be considered such as tournament placings or... More commonly, good old fashioned ego of not wanting to lose... Its pretty hard to have a dedicated sg team at the moment that doesnt have a (very good) peacock or val point.

I'm using Squigs/Filia or solo fortune. I really need to train with the catwoman, but I'm still figuring out if I really like using her. The only thing I now right now is that I will (probably) never drop Squigly (my favorite char) or Filia (I like the rushdown playstyle).

I'm waiting fo Robo-Fortune. Maybe the difference between her and the original cat are enough to make me do a little replace.

I'm still learning everyone, right now I have about 6 characters I can comfortably play. As I play each character, I'm noting weaknesses and strengths consistent against matchups and not player skill (ie buckles under pressure, poor ability to pressure). I'm also taking note of how other people play their characters to see if there's anything I can steal from them.

Characters I enjoy regardless are Fukua and Big Band. So my main team will likely have one of them.

I started with Peacock solo (Y-yeah..) and then i was testing what good assists for her, and i liked Double, not just for the ASSist (*badum-tss*) but i REALLY love her playstyle and its probably my best char right now, and some time ago i started to mess around with Big Band and im liking a lot, the team im testing is Peacock/BigBand/Double, loving so far.

ps:And im hyped for Eliza..so yeah.

Sometimes I dream of Skullgirls having a six characters team option. I can see it in Skullgirls Encore Encore 4: Umbrella finally manages to get in the game. Maybe we can already get a 4-charas team in Skullgirls Encore 3: DDB is dead and Annie is playable! Hype!

Right now, my only "certain" main is Fukua.
I like Bella, but not for pvp (in arcade mode - sure).
Parasoul imo got great neutral game, but charge/offensive character... not my style.
I wanted to main Fortune, i like all about her (mobilty, puppet, fast normals), but for me she is too complicated.
When i pick up the game, my buddy recommended solo Val. She was simple, and fun to play, but with time - i got bored.
I never liked Fillia and PW (char. focused on air game).
Double and Squigly? Love art design, but... idk, gameplay does not suit me.
Peacock for me is irritating to play as and/or against ;) (sooo much stuff to throw... :) )

Big Band... Well, Big Band. He was me weakness, my shame, my nemesis. I never wanted to like him.
But... Dynamics in team Fukua/BB is great. Brass knuckle feels like perfect assist (armour, knockdown on hit, yeah).
I need more battlefield tests, but for now - thats me team.

So, got one spot left, and it will stay open for now...
Because:
Three new characters are just around the corner!
I imagine that Robo could be great on point. Eliza, as we all know - ultimate anchor.
Beo is still mystery, i really don't know what to think about him.

i'm pretty much OCD when it comes to teams. I play every character, and every time I lose i always think i should change my team.

Good insights everyone. Actually I don't know anything about Eliza, Nonckie. But thanks for the info & I'm looking forward to both of those new characters. I hear what you're saying Dagwood. If I lose in a beginner/practice/casual lobby, I switch up my team in some way just to take a new approach.

i currently have 5 people who i play (fortune/fukua/squigs/BB/Bella) and i play them in various different mixtures of pairs. some faves are Fortune/Bella, Squigs/BB, Fukua/Fortune, Bella/BB.

i have never dabbled with trios though, mainly because i am like 99% certain i am going to mess up my assist calls since i dont use macros and just use 6 buttons.

Well, I know for certain that I am maining Squigly. Filia and Painwheel on the other hand, especially Painwheel, I'm not so sure of. I am considering one of three options.
  1. Switching both out for two other characters
  2. Switching Painwheel out for another character
  3. Going with a team of two instead
I am most likely going to roll with option 3. As for who number two is going to be on the team, I am currently thinking about it. So far, Filia, Cerebella, Eliza, and Big Band are all possible candidates. I'll have to do some practicing and see which character would best suit me. Though, part of me wants to hold off on that until Beowulf is playable so that I can see what he is capable of.

IMO a team of two i the easiest way to go, since you don't lose much damage and keep an assist.

Kinda...

I do main Big Band...

But I'm thinking about getting another person...

Maybe Squigly....

But I kinda suck at her

While I adore playing solo-Val, I tend to switch to different 3-character teams when I know it is going to be a hard fight, or when I just feel like playing a 3-character team.

Valentine will always, ALWAYS be my main, but what I do besides using Valentine is varied. My primary 3-character team is Val, Fukua, Squigly, but I sometimes feel like bringing out Big Band on anchor and/or swapping out Fukua for Ms. Fortune, Painwheel, or Cerebella.

Pretty much the only three characters I very rarely use, due to how bad I am as them, are Filia, Peacock, and Parasoul, and the latter of which is a character I am currently trying to improve as.
