Do my likes for a post go away if the post is deleted?

See thread title. Just curious since this forum likes to delete post that may distract from "serious discussion."

Not sure, but I'll say that my likes did dissapear at some point and it seemed to be connected with deleting one of my posts, however I never found out which one or even if anything was deleted.

Who ultimately cares though?

I do or I wouldn't have made the thread. I'm sure others do too.

The posts were good, actually. That's why a lot of people liked them.

^this

Welp, thanks for the answers, good to know my most liked posts will always be deleted.

Don't feel bad. I used to blame myself for the loss of my Likes after the last forum crash, but I realized that I needed to move on. The life of a Like is fleeting and fragile, and none of us are strong enough to protect them from this harsh world.

The solution is to post the jokes with the serious discussion that way can't ever delete the posts, it's the perfect crime.

(I'm pretty sure likes are accumulated per-post, regardless of them being deleted. You got reddit points don't even trip son)

Actually my posts did get deleted in a "serious discussion," to which they said they "cleaned up," the thread.

Why are you quoting, I was there. I was the one who deleted the things. There is no they, I am solely responsible.

You also missed the point where I said "With the serious discussion", that is, you prelude the joke and the discussion in the same post. Do it and no-one has a problem, especially me.

EDIT: As a note: I don't mind being called out. if you have a problem with my moderating, you are free to @Midiman me, and anyone else that has any problems with what happened. If we can't work out a deal, get bopped, otherwise, talk is useful.

The idea is that you post

<Witty joke to farm likes>

Peacock isn't OP, just pick Brass assist

This way the mods don't delete your posts cus you added 'something' to the "serious discussion", so you get to keep your likes

Oh I had no clue it was you, I just noticed my alerts changed and was curious, so I posted here. And yeah I totally misunderstood your post, sorry. I've had my post deleted in the lore section too (really serious discussion over there), so I was more so just wondering what happens to the likes.

EDIT: Also the reddit reference went way over my head.

Thanks for the clarification.

As an rationale follow-up, I will mention my rationale r.e. the thread since you were worried enough to make a new thread about it:

This is practically the first time a thread has been culled for responses and turned into a useful one in under 5 pages for.. a while? I had no problems with the funny posts, and in fact, I actually liked them, but there's got to be a point where a discussion gets real, and this was one of those times. I'm sorry you feel jipped, insulted or generally pissed on, but that's the breaks. I deleted my own funny posts too, and it was for the better of the thread-- best for someone to learn some shit than to be bombarded by gifs and posts.

There is no animosity here, etc.

It usually doesn't happen often, but I also don't apologize. Love you all :^3.

EDIT:

This is generally why I made a post about it-- it's even worse to sweep it up under the rug.

It is mostly my "job" to keep things cool and useful for everybody. The 50/50 stuff is useful and I'd rather become an actual treasure trove for info than joke thread, even though the first post is literally JUMPING IS USELESS.

Added this above but might as well post it in a new post.

I've had my post deleted in the lore section too (really serious discussion over there), so I was more so just wondering what happens to the likes. I wasn't really referring to a specific thread.

Well my jokes never get deleted because they're actually funny haha get #rekt son

Oh, btw, your like points actually do persist through deletions so long as they aren't permadeletes. ( We don't permadel )

You are infact good

Yeah, this. If we 'delete' the post such that it's just hidden from anyone who isn't a mod, you keep the likes. If we completely erase it (permadelete) then there's nothing for the likes to be associated with so they disappear.
