For the record, the KC vs STL 4v4 eternal runback series is going to happen here. It's the first time Kansas City SkullGirls has hosted our team grudge matches. We'll be running it Waseda style unless we later agree to do it round robin style.


This is tournament being held during a 24 hour gaming charity event. For more info on Extra Life, check out the facebook link in the opening post.

Hotel discounts have been worked out. I'm not the TO so I don't have the info on that. I'll post that when I get the info.

Edit: After the parting with Ameristar, hotel discounts are up in the air. There are current talks with a Holiday Inn, but nothing is set in stone yet. I'll update the OP and thread when it is decided.

If you need housing for this event I can probably help you out. HOWEVER you need to let me know sooner rather than later.
 
Updated the OP. Finals will be streamed as will the 4v4. The 4v4 is to follow the main tournaments.

Yes, if you're only entering KO (fighting games) you don't need to worry about that. Registration is only for the PC LAN.

Bad news everybody. THE AMERISTAR CASINO HAS DROPPED OUR EVENT. In light of this, the venue will be changing.

The new venue will be the OVERLAND PARK TRADE CENTER. I will be updating the opening shortly to reflect that. The tournament will still be the same, just at a different location. Details are being hammered out. That does mean that there's no hotel codes to take advantage of. Sorry for that guys.

I was thinking about coming down but I'm already going to TFC and I'm not sure I can make both this and NEC work

I probably won't decide until after TFC on the 10th
 
Thanks to @Dhoppler for updating the information. The venue has changed, and the new venue is reflected in the event and the OP.
 
Ok guys. It seems I updated the change in venue too early.

THIS IS THE FINAL UPDATE FOR THE VENUE INFORMATION.

This mishap happened because, basically Ameristar misrepresented their internet capabilities. A whole lot of time and details that I don't have later, the hosts of the charity event and our TO have acquired a new building capable of handling the streaming, the LAN tournaments for the BYOC area, and the actual charity event that this tournament is attached to. So, if you've stumbled on this thread before in confusion, I'm sorry. This is the final update to the venue. I'll post more news if anything else happens.
 
So, what's the lineup for the 4v4? I want to be prepared for offering accurate odds.
 
We pick our team order just before the exhibition.

Well, it's not like St. Louis team didn't just get mollywopped over the course of this week while a team from KC looks stellar
 
Some twisted part of me wants the KC team to get absolutely mopped just so I can watch us all collectively put our foot in our mouths.


(Also at some point I'll be confident in my Skullgirlsery to sign up to a Skullgirls tournament but that point isn't KO)
 
Well you never come out to play, or join any tournaments, or participate in anything really, so unless you change one (or all) of those things, you'll never be ready and I'll never care about your opinion.

Man I feel like my brand new MLG Soundboard app is going to get a lot of use this Saturday, specifically the airhorn sound.
 
That would require someone to actually finish a double snap combo. I don't see that happening.

I'm planning on it. I technically haven't heard from my manager about having time off this weekend, but i'll get him in trouble for keeping me from a charity event if i get stuck at work.
 
I just wanna say that STL sucks and if you watch the stream carefully, you can see the exact moment my mind gets broken
 
Mad shoutouts to all the burnout we all had yesterday too. To sum it all up:
>I bring my PC setup and we all meet and play SG in our corner (which quickly got pretty crowded)
>It's the only setup for very much most of the day
>We start off real playing strong on casuals during the day and having fun.
>We start getting a little bit sloppy towards the start time of the tourney around like 5 or so (despite the tourney having been set to start at 3)
>Come tourney start we're all playing kinda really bad and at times like utter ass.
>We blow through half our sets before me and Dhoppler are like, hey, let's go get some stream time like damn, when's Skullgirls, and get his PS3 setup on the stream
>We all finish, grab another round of okay pizza and "MLG DIGITAL SPORTS"-sponsored Red Bull, leave and/or go play casuals 'til the end of the night, go home, and rest off our mysterious sicknesses with some sleep

It was fun and cool and all, but, damn, man. I'd like to blame it on the venues that first screwed the event, or the Red Bull, but, I dunno...

So many 0's goddamn. Out of all the tourney sets, only 3 of the sets, which were pre-semis, were 2-1's.
Anyways, GG's to all that came, at least we had a pretty alright time when we weren't competing and we were actually having good games in most of our casuals.

ON THE BRIGHT SIDE:
We got to show a lot of people that haven't heard of Skullgirls, hasn't really been into the/a scene, or just plain ol' newcomers some Skullgirls and some hype. We still got some looks and watches, there was some hype (but not quite with us during the tourney), and aside from that, a pretty alright time. Let's try to make the next Maxout real big to make up for it!

Grand Finals wasn't 3-0. Our T.O.s weren't paying attention. It was 2-3.

That said. Let's try to make the best of next Maxout and the rest afterwards. Til then, I'll be checking the stream archives and post tourney uploads. And I still have my cold.

I don't think we would want to even make funnies of what was streamed, it was so...

Meh tier.

Now what we did play tho...... Man, I should've recorded the sets....

Even though that would've been a 12 hour or so recording, at least all of those casuals didn't leave bad tastes in the mouths.

Save the MLG soundboard for either weeklies or Maxout.
 
MLG Soundboards were my favorite part of KO though

I dunno. I watched the archive and it was 2013 all over again except FuLLBLeeD knew how to play the game already.

I liked when I played @alexpi round one, and, in a row, I dropped a double snap, a confirm, then another double snap. Stellar play all around tbh

Everyone was sick though so eh...whatever. Remember these words from the legendary @Ryden Onkars: "in order to win you don't have to play better, you just have to play less bad"

Really bummed more people didn't make it out though. I think we had more than 8 people last Maxout.
 
I'm pretty ashamed of myself for not playing with you guys, but I didn't want to interrupt any sets (also there was generally something amazing happening and I was busy being mesmerized by things like Big Band parrying through incoming mixup).
 
Fullbleed, the guy who won doesn't get to complain about how sloppy their play was. Watch my last set vs dhoppler and count how many times I either drop a combo or mess up the reset
 
I dunno. Just because everyone else did worse doesn't mean that you can be satisfied with a lackluster performance. If anything, it'll be a good study of all of our bad habits and holes in our game play.

One day I will be back to playing this game for real. Not today tho. Gonna be playing Dragon Age for the next month or so, but still gonna pot monster Maxout.
