Parasoul Robo Fortune Beowulf
So we all know about assists like Pillar, or Updo, and Butt being extremely viable in competitive play. The obvious ones. But what about the other assists out there? Whether it's online or at local casuals, what are some of the zaniest, off-the-wall assists you've seen or used in a match that may not be optimal but have a kernel of usefulness to them?

Let me start out:

I fought a point Parasoul with anchor Big Band. He had Bagpipe Blues as his assist.

I never got hit by so many tuba-tuba-tuba-tuba's in a single set in my life. Sure, I still won more games in the set, but I really, really liked his idea of supercharging Big Band's supers whenever he had a free moment.

I kinda wanna try BB cMK for cross up shananigans

I think I once used Peacock's teleport as an assist just for shits and giggles.
Or maybe I flubbed a bomb assist input and told myself that it was for shits and giggles.

Diamond drop is surprisingly effective since it does pretty nice damage and is fairly okay to combo off of.

Though I don't have too much of an excuse to use tremolo over silver chord, heh.

tremolo is kinda better than silver chord
tremolo is a c.hp that doesn't hit low and chips
silver chord would be good if it was a cmd grab instead of a hit grab.

When I play Painwheel, I'll use s.MK for the assist. It comes out quick, does some good blockstun, and multihits to break armor. The hitboxes are also obnoxious, there are times where it saves my ass from over my shoulder, or occasionally pokes out things like napalm pillar. Kind of like a ghetto Fukua drill. I guess I just don't like how long c.MP stays out there personally.

Cerebella's Merry-go-Rilla grab assist isn't the worst thing in the world, especially if you hate fighting Big Band like I do.

Squigly's Arpeggio is there. Besides the obvious ups and downs, I learned the hard way that it has this annoying tendency to autocorrect, making it hard to avoid for some characters.

I've run into a guy who used MP projectile on Painwheel, using the heavy blockstun to set up Cerebella tick throws and such. The team was very annoying and damage-heavy.

There was also another guy who used Eliza's Weight of Anubis assist, with Big Band on point. It was very tricky and annoying to have to play "dodge the Giant's Step/Take the A Train" at double speed.

Peacock's grab is hella good for Parasoul. Not as good as stand fierce but good.

Diamond Drop is amazing, S/O to Bill307, only a select few know.

Painwheel flight assist is gaaaawdliiiiike.

Egret Charge WAS good pre-nerf.

cerebella s.hk is pretty great really

Valentine's Grab Special. I rarely use it but I like to when I can tell your blocking habit, risky yet satisfying.

Man, Excellebella is really underrated as an assist. I knew a few people that used it before, explicitly because it could set up unblockables with Command Grab + Excellebella assist. Now that you can just jump the command grab and block Excellebella, I think some people are going to start dropping it.

Maybe it's just because Peacock gets the most out of this assist and all the other Peacock + Cerebella players are using Lock 'N' Load, but I never see this used. On hit, it lasts forever, so you have tons of time to hit-confirm or do setups with it, but that's about all you get out of it. Valentine gets a free poison, Parasoul can set up tears, Squigly gets two full stance charges for free, and Big Band and Eliza get free taunts. And Peacock gets a free taunt, or time to set up a Shadow or LK George or Avery.

Seriously, out of Excellebella, I've gotten free taunts, burst baits, ground grab and air grab resets, ground grab conversions, set up Low/Throw mix-ups, and cross-up/cross-under/double cross-up resets for days. Most of this stuff involves resets that can lead into each other, so I can get some pretty nasty offensive momentum going if I play intelligently. The fact that many Filia and Val players will leap right into it at match start is just a bonus.

Painwheel flight assist is gaaaawdliiiiike.

Can someone explain to me exactly what Painwheel's flight assist does? It's off-the-wall enough that I don't even know what its purpose is

It does as much as egret call

Yo seriously? That IS sick

How many people use Devil Horns assist? I've only ever seen it used once, in ever...

P.S. Taunt assists, how do.

I forget if it was on Who Yall Like or Ultimate Showstopper, but I totally saw someone using Devil Horns Assist. It looked so ineffective it looked comical.

Battle Butt is pretty cool. Not great, but it is a fast, armored get-off-me.

The Lugers can be useful since they cover valuable real estate. Just don't be doing it at stupid ranges and not protecting Double during her forever cooldown.

Squigly DP still gets people.

I find Devil Horns really useful, thank you very much. Of course it's no Beat Extend, but it's the only DP I have in my team and it does cover a really problematic angle for me. Also, ineffective you say? Who was I losing to? Everyone gets hit by it!

You became harder to deal with after LnL, tho.

Devil Horns is there for problem match-ups like Val, Filia, Fortune, PW and Parasoul. For everything else there is Lock 'n' Load.

I don't remember who you were fighting, but whoever it was had good enough spacing that Bella just kept jumping in, striking a pose, whiffing everything, then leaving. But I DO get your point with the problem matchups. In fact, I'm gonna mess with this assist tonight if I have time.

I've seen sweep assists from Big Band, Peacock, and Filia

Sweep assist for peacock can be dangerous for her.
If they tech forward, damn...
I wish val's s.hk(3) was possible to use as assist. Sliding knockdown all the way with giant ass hitbox.

I'm surprised i'm not in this thread, i use some lolzy assists

double: h. luger
Big band: Giant step

Odd ones i've seen
double: Cilia slide
Eliza: Dive of horus(stop using this, it's a bad assist)
Fortune: S. mp
Val: dead cross

i was making it my mission to make cerebella st.hk assist the dumbest shit in existence while running fortune. need to get back on that train again. incoming setups are fucking godlike with that thing.

Yeah I love that assist. I always tell myself that if I ever play Cerebella I'm using s.hk. That being said, I'll never play Cerebella :^)

As far as weird assists I've seen, Painwheel buer is the one that stands out most in my head. It wasn't good or anything, but it was kind of cool seeing it I guess. I've also gone against Eliza lk spiral, but that was just somebody knew to the game.
