I've been playing Skullgirls since day one, but I've generally played in Arcade mode on the hardest difficulty, because it's difficult to find opponents online via PSN. Although, when I do matchmaking via Skullhearts or a quick match, I have to go against a solid player that bombards me with mix-ups that I don't know how to deal with. Every match I have recently had online has resulted in me just putting the controller down until the end of the match.

Can anyone give me some tips on how to improve with matches against humans? I'm at my wit's end, but I don't want to give up on the game just yet. Tips on how to truly utilize training mode would be amazing.

Check the Beginner Resources Thread, there is a lot of good advise there and even motivational stuff. Also keep in mind that you WILL lose a LOT before you start to win. Just don't let it get to you, keep trying and keep playing. Everyone went through this, getting beaten up is a natural part of learning a fighting game.
