Hi,

In the myriad of kickstarter going on these day, Hollow Knight quicly catched my eye. You seem to control an undead insect knight in an underground yet gorgeous world. It looks great and very nicely animated, seems to play great and looks quite strange without going in random direction. From the trailer, the project seems quite advanced.

There's only a few days left to it's kickstarter, so if you like metroidvania and/or pretty game in general, check it out!

That looks awesome! Can't back yet though, I'll have to wait until they put the PayPal up. But thanks for showing me this, that's definitely something I want to play!

Looks cool, but the console stretch goal is (bizarrely) for Wii U, and not PS4, as is the trend.

No problem! With all the kickstarter going on, it gets harder to find the good ones and consequently, it's also harder for them to get noticed.

I noticed that trend too, i don't know if it's because it's easier/less costly to develop for wiiU, by plain pity for the fact that there is almost nothing on wiiU(and so get noticed more easily by those that have one), or by nostalgia of Nintendo glory day.

And anyway, when an indie game get good, it get ported eventually to a sony console more often than not, including those that were supposed to be xbox exclusive. And honestly in this case, from their latest update, it will probably get to wiiU even without the stretch goal. I'm more interested aout the additional content goal myself!

Problem is, I would've put money towards the kickstarter had they listed ps4. I guess I'll take a closer look if and when it does come around.

Makes sense. Myself are waiting from buying a PS4 until it gets cheaper and have more game, but they are getting there. Sony pretty much usurped Xbox in term of support for indie for a while now!

I just checked and the paypal option is there now, maybe because you asked for it!

Destiny doesn't count!

And yeah, but most people are comparing wiiU with PS3 and Xbox360, PS4 and xbox one being still newborns(or at least act like it, PS4 is getting out of it thought). I agree on most of that list, but the feeling of the wiiU(and also the wii on that matter) will remains that it's an isolated console. Myself have a wiiU and not the PS4 and xbox one, but i'm also confident that in the long run the PS4 will be more full featured than the wiiu.

I haven't heard of Fire Emblem X SMT for a while, what's up with that?

Anyway, i don't want to enter a console war, i just know that the feeling that the wiiU is alone is shared by many.

All this AND the higher market penetration of the PS4 means I think I'm justified in my confusion over why this particular game would choose Wii U as it's console port stretch goal. But you keep biblethumpin', baby <3

I'm not bible thumping/evangelizing Nintendo. I actually was really bored with the Wii last generation (I had all three, but PS3 was console of choice for me, ironically another system that continued to be accused of not having games long after it had more games then its competitors), but this gen I'm seeing far more interesting things on Wii U (at least, to my taste), to the point that it's an instant buy over the others.

Obviously there are things on the Ps4/xbone, but most of them either aren't of a genre that interest me or are things I already own on pc (Strike Suit Zero, Guacamelee, Awesomeanuts, Rogue Legacy, Dust, Geowars, Binding of Isaac, etc.) If you like ps4 and xbone and all that, that's cool. I'll probably pick up both eventually anyway, but the constant complaints of Wii U having no games just strikes me as lol console fanboying at this point considering all the stuff we've recently gotten and all the stuff that's on the horizon right now.

Also can't be emphasized how backwards the logic is to constantly complain a console has no games, then get mad whenever a few games actually do show up on it. I understand that it's because people don't wanna buy a console for one game at first (but in the end, isn't that the way it always works out for all consoles? Can't remember a console purchase where I didn't ultimately just end up saying "fuck it" and diving in for one or two games), but at this point it just feels like people have developed certain prejudices and just don't want to let go of them.

So two games, basically. Neither of which are must buys, but just things I'm a tad interested in (Resogun is cool but I'm not a big fan of Defender from which it draws influence, and LPB is always nice but at this point I think I'd rather keep learning Unity). I could have made a similarly large list for Wii U, but I have very specific tastes in games and wouldn't want to include games I don't like (90% of everything on all 3 consoles) or games that are already on pc or other consoles (90% of what you just listed).

Of course, as I said, that's just for me personally.

You are completely missing the point. You're arguing console superiority for some reason, but I'm talking about how choosing the Wii U as the console stretch goal is odd, considering that (compared to the PS4) it's got less units sold and less indie games overall. Of the available systems, PS4 has the widest selection of indie games and the highest install base. If you were going to pick a system to relase a console port for, why on Earth wouldn't you just choose PS4? Like, I dunno, most indie games with console ports? Skullgirls, anyone?

I was never arguing that, nor was I ever responding to you or to that argument. You are missing the point of my post. My original point was that saying "wii U has no games" (what I was originally responding to, not your post, I didn't even mention this game in my op) seems false to me. Joking that Ps4/Xbone only has Destiny was just that: a joke, and one merely that emphasizes that any console can be claimed to have "no games" depending on what your criteria for a good game is.

Wii U may have less indie games or less games over all, and it may not be the best choice here (maybe, we don't know what's going on at Nintendo or with these publishers) but saying it has "almost nothing" is a weird launch day meme that is becoming less and less true with every month that passes.

Outside of the financial aspect, no console can really be superior or inferior (at least not at this point). It's just a matter of taste. I don't think I ever even used the word "superiority" in either post.

Well, for the reason i said above : exposure. In a crowded place like the PS4 with many indie, a game may be lost in all this, especially when it's your first game. On the WiiU, a console that less person possess, those that DO have one will jump on the games that come out on it. Is it the best tactic? I don't know. But it's a valid one, especially since nothing stop them to put it on the PS4 afterward(and if it's good and get popular, it will be inevitable!). Some developper also says that it's easier to develop on the wiiU. It depends on what kind of game you do i guess.

Skullgirls as a fighter, it makes sense to send it to the fighting game crowd, so where the Arcsys games already are. In that case, putting it on WiiU is almost completely a waste of time. But for a metroidvania, it makes more sense.

Finally, i think Nintendo already approached them about this. So maybe someone at Nintendo have the job of tracking good kickstarter in order to bolster their lineup!

Anyway, both PS4 and WiiU are fine, no need to battle on which is best!

Backed :3

Last 12 hour of the kickstarter, it got its goal plus a few extra content stretch goal and the wiiu version. PLayStation vita have been added to stretch goal, but it´s unlikely it Will be met. however, it also means that it will probably get to Sony console eventually!

Looks pretty neat, I threw in ten bucks for it. I sorta hope they meet this next stretch goal for a 2nd playable character cause she looks kinda cool. Maybe that's unrealistic since they still need like ten thousand dollars or something, but Kickstarters go nuts in the last day sometimes so who knows.

She does looks cool! They have to get 4500$ in 8 hours for it, and from the speed things have gone lately, we may still get it!

Forget about the other stretch goal however, but the fact that they're there scream future DLC if the game do well!

Wel, the kickstarter did go nuts and she got funded after all!

Now let's hope they'll actually makes a good game, but the trailer and what have been shown seems solid enough so i'm confident about this. With those stretch goal obtained, they might want to push back the release date however, 6 month is a short time for all this...

They can make it like Shovel Knight, release the game first and do the Strech Goals afterwards as DLC. But yeah, they can also push back release, they can take their time, I only want a good game and I can wait.

Cool that they funded Hornet, I love to have two different characters to play the game with, basically doubles the entire game for me.
