[Oct 25, 2014] Don't Think, Fight (London, Park Royal)

Someone who frequents the HOG was kind enough to ask the staff about the prize pool situation, and we're allowed to do it! Yay. We're going to do double elimination with the prize pool split to 1st and 2nd by a 70/30 ratio. We're thinking £5 buy in. Also, the over night stay is a possibility as long as we have a handful of people. So if you're available for it, please let me know. Thanks.

So I have to ask my final questions:
What time do I need to register by?
What time does it start?
Where do I enter?
Where do I pay to get into the HOG?
Will it be streamed at THEWONDERPARK on Twitch?

  • What time do I need to register by?
Any time from 12pm - 3pm, but bear in mind the tournament is going to start at 3pm. You might want to turn up earlier for casual matches. There will be some of us turning up at around 12pm
  • What time does it start?
The event starts at 12pm, essentially, there will be a steady bleed of us coming at different times due to different travel times, but everyone should be able to make it before 3pm.
  • Where do I enter?
We'll be in the console room, which is past the arcade room + ddr machines. Look for skullgirls. Just say hi and we'll sign you up.
  • Where do I pay to get into the HOG?
IIRC you pay right at the door as you go in.
  • Will it be streamed at THEWONDERPARK on Twitch?
No, I don't think so. There's already a weekly tournament being streamed, (USFIV, I think)

  • Entrance to the HoG is £10 on saturdays
  • Overnight sessions are available on Fridays and Saturdays and require a minimum of 10 people and cost £5 per person, which beats hotels clean out of the water for the price. I have been told that there are enough people doing this every week outside of our group.
I believe this has been changed as overnight sessions now cost £10 per person. That will mean people who are coming will need £20 to get in for the overnight session. An all-day session will still only cost £10. If we have any people who are strapped for cash among us but want to join for the overnight session I might be able to pitch in a tenner here and there if it means you can stick around (the more the merrier and all that jazz)!

I'll let everyone know, I have NEVER played this game in offline versus but I have good combos and setups so I'm giving it my all! I'm just hoping for friendly competition even if I lose a lot. So nervous but I'm even more excited!

I may be in cosplay by the time I arrive, so it's quite unlikely I'll have a bag with me to carry some form of controller.

Would anyone be kind enough to lend me one once I'm there? :PUN:

If we get a match against each other, I can't help you

Sorry I didn't make it guys, turns out cosplaying is pretty exhausting. I'll be sure to make it to the next event!

I just got home, everyone was lovely, nice to meet you all, I'm sleepy.

GGs everyone! Was nice meeting you and finally living the offline dream. Also you all missed out on the "after-party":

Although I couldn't be there last Saturday, please don't hesitate to send me an invitation to a lobby or a one on one

I couldn't stay for too long becuase I was there with my grandparents and none of us had dinner at that point but next time I'll see about staying longer!
