My two cents on Marie, the final boss.

There are strategies you can take to minimize your disadvantage against Marie (especially in her second stage), however that doesn't completely restrict the luck factor involved. If she starts with a particular move, or moves in a particular direction you'll take so much damage that when stage 3 comes along you don't have enough health to luck through it, and her 3rd stage doesn't seem to have any weaknesses other than unfortunate RNG results.

I did a video about it because someone wanted some tips, it's mostly me dying and I tried to add text to pretend that i'm a funny guy lighten the mood and make it a little more interesting than it is, but I think I got my point across.

Basically, for stage 1 just get her into stun as much as possible. I think it's hit count based, so use multihitting moves as much as you can. For stage 2 you can just keep jumping over her and her pokes will miss (most of the time), when she raises her arms get/stay behind her because that's her calling forth minions to be annoying. With Filia you can j.HK as you jump over her, there are likely similar solutions for other characters. For stage 3 just do as much damage as you can as quickly as you can, it's just not fair and you'll die if you let her start doing stuff too much.

there is a thread for that kind of stuff --> how to beat marie

How to beat her from playing a few boss battles in a nutshell.

JUMP,SMACK,JUMP SMACK!

Just, keep jump smacking her.

If she is gonna be a cheap tank/Speak and spamer. Just, jump around and hit her. Most charcaters have atleast one good damage air attack. Spam It, and bounce around.

Most of the moves that do BIG damage..need to be somewhere to spam It. Once you get to the last stage..Jump,smack.

If you can get by the first stage with atleast 95% of your hp..you should be good to finsih her off. And If you get past the second (Which is the biggest pain) with atleast half hp. You should be able to finish her.

Really, just don't play fair.

But, she is a boss that makes my jimmies get rustled.

Umm okay you can use Ms.Fortune to beat Marie, seriously I used her for easy, hard, ridiculous, and currently right now i got her 3/4ths down in nightmare. Just stay close to her, block, jump and do combos. Its easy.

I don't think I've heard anything nice about Marie, well, ever. It wouldn't be so bad if you could grab her. Or didn't take as much chip damage. Or pushblocking recovered health. At least Solobella can do a nice Diamond Deflector game.

Still, I tried Solo Eliza last night. Ended up timing her out as we both hid in our respective corners and sent minions at each other. On the plus side, I learned that you can airdash backwards. Neat!

I see there are many that agree, Maria is such an un-fun boss to fight. I wouldn't call Maria herself "hard to beat." What's hard is maintaining the patients to continue fighting her. She's terrible in the context of a fighting game, especially if you play a character that doesn't have projectiles. I lose all patients for her after her second form.

She absolutely murders the story mode for me. I'll probably just watch Beowulf's end story on YouTube or something but I'm never playing the story mode again. It's all fun and games up until Maria.

No matter how bad those other bosses were people recognize that they were cheap, or lazily made bosses that probably should have remained in the arcades where they could eat through your quarters.

That's a really good point! That's probably more than likely why a fighter boss fight would be illogically hard (or tedious).

This game had better boss fights, and it was made by one or two guys:
