So I was playing a match with my brother. I was fighting him in the corner, we were both at low health. Suddenly some comic-book style arrows appeared on the screen and Marie's theme started playing. After I won it stopped.

This was a cool little thing that happened, but I don't know why. Do you know what it is?
 
if you do a double snap that will trigger

This was a special effect added in a few months ago that happens when you do a doublesnap or assist pickup.

  • A doublesnap is when you use an outtake (snapback) on your opponent and their assist while they're in the corner. Doing this allows you to hit their assist until they die.
  • An assist pickup is when you have your opponent and their assist in a combo, the point character dies, and you continue to combo the assist character.
