Filia Parasoul Unknown
Making this diary so I can commit to myself getting better after having a year of not being able to play online, I am trying to get fully back into playing Skullgirls. Still not great but trying to get better.

Things to work on

  • I need to get at least consistent with doing combos with Squigly and Fillia and for some reason I find myself doing slightly better with Squigly than Fillia even though I have been playing Fillia for longer, maybe I just need to use a different character or I should stick with Fillia.
  • Maybe get a third character, I have been thinking about this for a while and I might keep trying everyone and make my final decision when everyone has been released.
  • Get to playing more people why I have the time to, since when I head back to uni, I am not gonna be able to access the internet for playing online.
  • Maybe find a training partner, maybe some that I played earlier or someone that I played ages from the european skullbats, as long as they don't mind playing on ps3.
Probably not the best analysis since isn't really going into the problems I am having with some combos, guess I should go ask more specific for that in the threads.

Okay time for an update, I have decided to put Parasoul into my team since she was a character I used to play so she is one of the character I feel more comfortable using for a team of three.

I have been playing more often and actually getting wins for once instead of losing all the time, which I guess is an improvement, still can't really perform greatly with Parasoul and Fillia.

For the case of Parasoul it would probably be the case of getting used to how she plays again after not properly playing for a while.

For Fillia I can start into the combo but it's when the combo requires the airdash cancel in which I have start having problems, I think it's a mix of not knowing when to press the next button after the airdash or before it and how quickly I have to inputs commands during that part of the combo. This would be with most of the combos I require this, I can't any specific combo that involves that is causing me trouble. I guess it would just be a matter of grinding it out until I can get good enough to perform the part gives me trouble.

For what is happening in matches, I don't have any recording equipment so I can't analyse any footage from recorded plays but from what I can see from what happened so far and on some matches, I need to actually pushblock more and get better at comboing. I can't really any other specific although I probably should.

Playing through matches more to get more experience and I found that I autopilot too much sometimes and not adjust myself according to the situation, so there is something I need to work on.

Also I need to stop hitting buttons when I know it unsafe and if it's the wrong move to use in that situation, not much to say this time I think.

I try to space a few days between posts so that I feel there is some progress and or development along the way but I am updating now since I have had my first Peacock/Bigband match, that is definetly a match up I need to put more work into, which is what I need more of in general match up experience.

It's good you're trying to improve & are having fun while doing it. You've probably found some good people to practice with around your level or a little above, which helps. I should try one of these diaries as well, maybe... Anyway, keep it up!

Can't really update much haven't played as much as I like due to illness and such which I am fine from now and now I am back to playing Fillia and Squigly because I can never find a consistent third character in this game, guess I just need to keep trying everyone or wait for the rest of the characters.

Still need to improve for combos and stuff and still get more player based experience.

Was meaning to update this more but I ended up in Uni where there is no connection to PSN so I am not caught up with Eliza update which bummed me out for a bit.

I will be updating this properly when I try out Eliza at some point next month.

Aw crap I asked myself why I never played with you and then bam, PSN. Man I have everything but that.

But in the end you would actually teach me not the other way around.

I only have it on Playstation and I don't have steam but that is hopefully a plan for the future.

Don't rush it, there's no real need for it as long as you find players on PSN. But if you get the Steam-version eventually, sign me up for a few matches immediately.

I don't intend to get the Pc version immediately It will probably be along time from now since Psn is still fine for. Although I do hope when Beowulf comes out it will be at a time when I can get him as opposed to waiting additional months while everyone else has access.

for one you're playing two characters which are similar in style. as in they're both heavy rush down characters the difference as i'm sure you know is one has a air dash and one doesn't. squigly is a methodical character with a lot of multi hit normals etc i found myself slowing down made my squigly improve dramatically. as for filia whom i do not play she does have that air dash and most of her lengthy combos are going to require you to do air dash cancels(adc) which isn't the easiest thing to learn or get down its strictly a timing thing and you have to incorporate lag as a factor into that as well, which imo makes filia much more difficult to play then squigers. i'd pick one then look for like a big band/double/bella/wheel/parasoul/fukua/eliza to start playing. what kind of input device do you play on? when i first started playing sg i hadn't really played on a stick in years before i got into sg so it took quite a few months before I was attuned again with my input device and i noticed my game increase dramtically once i felt comfortable on the stick again.

you just missed SG being on sale on steam for 66% off.

I have had skullgirls since it came out in europe so I am familiar with my characters just not that great with them, mainly due to not being able to keep up with playing, multiple patches and just not being that great initially but I am trying to get better.

I feel I am better at playing Squigly a bit better than Fillia and yeah I am still having difficulty with Airdash combos so she might be one swap out to another character over time.

In regards to other characters I am not fond of charge characters mainly due to spending too much time charging than I need to, with parasoul being in my roster is mainly due to fact I like that character but I am definitely swapping out to Beowulf when he comes out.

I am not particularly fond of double and I can't really do well with painwheel, I might think of going with Fukua if I replace Fillia's spot in my team for her since I tend to have difficulties using characters that have similar moves and it causes me a bit of confusion.

I like the idea of going with Bella and I will have to try Eliza out later when I get the chance.

I also play on stick and occasionally the a normal controller.

I am on PSN for the moment, so we can play if you want.

Maybe best if you add me on Steam (same nick) and shoot me a message there when you're up to fight, as I don't have my PS3 on much.

Unfortunately I can't access PSN while I am at Uni since it doesn't connect for some reason. I will be able to access it when I head back home which will be near Christmas.

I was back a few days ago but now I can online again and on my first match got my ass handed to me, christ I feel rusty.

Also as a change putting ms fortune on my team in place of Squigly, I have been debating whether to put in ms fortune for a bit but ultimately decided on it after getting back into matches because I feel I can do better with fillia and ms fortune than squigly.

For the reason I am not keeping squigly on the team is that I prefer sticking with a small set of characters and still have every intention to use beowulf when he becomes available so my team will ultimately be Fillia, Ms fortune and beowulf or though given how I am this still potentially subject to change.

Okay now I have had some more matches which was 48 matches against the notorious kit, can't remember what his handle is on Skullheart and well lost all the matches, although I don't really win much anyways so losing is still the norm at the moment but it is a sign I still need to put in some more practice and get better as it were.

After going with trying out Fillia, fortune and bella I am now going to try out the same but with Eliza in place of Bella and see how that goes from that point.

If you are rusty and don't have a real team anyway, I'd recommend playing Solo or at best Duo.
Trio is too much of a time commitment for someone who has to learn the game on the side.

Also, we can probably fight some time if you're still up.

Hell's bells it has been a while since I have used this all though I was busy with other things I feel like starting up with this again.

Can't play online at the moment so just sticking with practice mode at the moment and have swapped to playing with pad instead of an arcade stick so just getting used to that as well.
