For this weekend, Friday 15 November until 1PM PST Sunday 17 November, Skullgirls is free to play on Steam. Once that free period is finished you'll have to buy the full game to continue playing, but Steam also has you covered. The price on all Skullgirls products has been slashed by 33% until 10AM PST Monday 18 November. That includes the full game, multi-packs of the game and the DLC colors. Squigly is still free for another week for everyone who owns the game so this is a great time to pick up the game if you've been avoiding it for some reason. You can check out the Skullgirls Steam store here.

Please remember that the lobbies are likely going to be flooded with new and inexperienced players this weekend, so try to be nice!

[prebreak]Keep reading for a full price breakdown of the sales.[/prebreak]Here's a full list of the discounts available this weekend:

Skullgirls: $14.99 - $9.99
*Skullgirls 2 Pack: $24.99 - $16.74
*Skullgirls 4 Pack: $44.99 - $29.99
DLC Squigly: Free for download until November 22, then will ONLY cost money if you haven't already downloaded her.
DLC Color Palette Bundle: $4.99 - $3.34

*These multi packs allow you to buy several copies of the game at a discount which you can share out with your friends.

Added an explanation to the Squigly price notice, just to avoid confusion.

How exactly do I download the game for free? It looks like I have to go through the process of purchasing the game before downloading and installing, which defeats the idea of there being a free trial.

It's still Thursday in the US, so don't think the free period has started yet. You should just be able to get it through the store page, though that's just a guess.

EDIT: Scratch that it *has* already started, go to this page and click the link in it.

Restart Steam and then go to the Skullgirls store page.

The best part is Mike finding out he can edit the OP, and then saying he's going to leave it intact just so everyone can laugh at it.

There will definitely be *some* people who pick up the game because of it - the question is more how many. I'm not sure what the standard attach rate is for these kind of promos, but as a dev I'd be pleased if 3-5% of them became regular players.

Well I played for 5 hours today and a lot of the people I beat up at the beginning were still around near the end, which is especially cool to see after they got beaten up by someone who actually knows how to do more than 3 hits in a combo.

Oh my gosh, those Steam forums...it's like walking into a frat party full of baboons. Some of the discussions are cool, but one wrong move and the poop starts flying everywhere! Mike and Peter the Elephants show up to put their feet down, but that only goes so far.

Hopefully new people are judging the game based on the game itself, and not just the discussions around it. I couldn't imagine a free weekend having a negative impact, but with the randomness of some of these reactions, it's kinda hard to tell.

You think that's bad? You should see the Workshop comments for TF2. Apparently, people think that Valve will automatically add any item with ASCII art dongers in the comment section.

I wonder how many people will join after the free weekend, I am really curious to know, I played so many new people this weekend, shout outs to everyone. There was not one new player that was a bad sport.
One of my friends said he's interesed in getting Skullgirls on PC now (he didn't get the free deal, but he will probably buy it), so yay :)
I have recruited another, o Divine Beings of the Trinity - here is your sacrifice
