Any of y'all playing this card game? I just picked it up recently and have been slowly grinding up a Rogue deck.
I used to play the actual paper WoW card game in college, so it's kind of neat to see them revisit it like this. I prefer the feel of the old game over this one, but it's pretty interesting how crazy fast the Generate 1 Extra Mana Every Turn mechanic makes the game.

I've been playing it for some time and I really love it! Am not great at it still though...

My hint for starters is to never let a quest go to waste, always try to log in at least once every three days and finish some quests, that way you'll build up a lot of gold without much effort.

Haven't played this in a while. I feel like annoying everyone with my Mage deck again.

So, I'm hoping I don't get people mad for bumping this up a bit, but I just got into the game. Currently trying to work on making a Shaman Deck (you know, the Totems thing) with mixed results.

Shaman is my favorite class in Hearthstone. I think it’s very suited for a beginner, you learn to manage your resources well with overload and the totems give you a good idea of how to use your luck. Sounds weird, but you quickly learn how and if you can rely on them.

Example: You could wipe the enemy board with lighting storm if you get a spell damage totem, but if you miss you don’t have enough mana to play something else. What do you do? Go for it or play it safe? Depends on the situation and your position. And that’s what I like about Shaman. And Shaman has very good class-cards.

I still miss some legendarys that I would use in my deck (Bloodmage Thalnos, Ragnaros) but I think it’s pretty solid as it is right now.

What type of Shaman do you play? Aggressive or control?

Also, at topic: I play Hearthstone too, if you haven’t noticed by now. If you want to play with me, hit me up with a PM.

I wouldn't be able to tell ya. I'm still kind of a beginner at this game. ^_^;

Well, do you go all out with am aggressive early game or do you rely on spells and some early game minions to clear the board until you gain dominance trough strong late game cards? There’s more than that, Midgame or Gimmicks for example, but usually people use either of these two.

You don’t need to tell me, but it would help me helping you with your problems on the deck. Or find a new class that is more suited for you.

But if you are still a beginner and lack a lot of cards, you should try to build a Zoo-deck first. That’s a type of Warlock that relies on a lot of cheap minions, his hero power to draw more quickly and to have as few cards in hand as possibly so that cards like Soulfire or Doomguard lose their disadvantage.

Many people hate Zoo because they think it's "cheap", but in reality this Deck needs a player who knows exactly when to make efficient trades and how to use their resources effectively. That’s why its the best deck for any beginner: You learn the fundamentals of the game better then with any other deck. How to trade, how to keep up board control, how to use your live points as a resource, how to manage your hand.

@Detective Q

Thanks for the tip. I'll try out the Zoo deck, as it sounds like something that would help me learn how to play the game. Kind of like the Skullgirls tutorial, based on your description, anyway.

y'know, as a card game enthusiast, I have been interested in this game.

does it require a high maintenance PC or can it run no problem with even a non-gaming computer?

It works on my friend's old toaster so I suppose it will work for weaker PCs.

I might look into the game then. :) I usually run pure damage decks in the card games I play, so what deck type should I look for myself?

also, I would love if they have Pandarans. its so fun to see warcraft newbies complain about them.

@Sanoblaze

They do have Pandarens, as that's what they're apparently called (hi, non-Warcraft player here), but they don't seem to have any specific character to represent them.

From what I've been testing out, the Hunter Deck might be good for you, Sano? Someone correct me here if I'm wrong, because I could be?

If pure damage then warrior seems good too.

let me be a little more specific, I didn't mean people who don't play warcraft in general. I meant people who have never played anything besides WoW and/or never knew pandarans existed before kung fu panda. because they're are people who get extremely upset that pandarans exist.

and I'll give a hunter or warrior deck a try. but if it helps, an equivalent terminology for what I'm looking for would be a destruction beatdown deck out of yugioh, since thats what I ran for years.

@Sanoblaze

Might want to go for Warrior then. Like, give Hunter a look, but that might not be what you're looking for.

alright, warrior it is then. and I'll look for Pandaren if I can.

All the pandaren cards I've seen just return a friendly monster on field back to your hand.

The pandas could get their own class though, they still need to include Monk and Death Knight to complete the roster of WoW-Classes. And you can be damn sure that Monk is a Pandaren (Chen Stormstout? Hopefully not that annoying Panda-Girl) and Death Knight is Arthas Menethil.

But try Hearthstone Sano, it's pretty fun.

So what class do you guys love playing?

Shaman → Pretty tricky and fun, I love how you need to plan with overload and the totems, I like the cards and I just like Thrall in general.

Warrior → Late game control, I love the strategy behind it and the cards.

I have viable decks for other classes too, but I enjoy these two the most. I would love to try Priest out though, but I miss too much of the necessary cards to make it work.

Mage for the board clears, fireball and sheep.

Pally for all of them buffs and true silver champion.

Mage is pretty fun too, played with an aggressive deck involving Archmage Antonidas recently. You don’t always get the jackpot, but if you do... turn 10 Antonidas with Sorcerer's Apprentice on the board, hand full of low-cost spells. Enemy gave up immediately XD

I love the faceless manipulators, nothing like a couple of Divine shielded Blessing of king'd creatures to ruin somebody's day.(unless they have silence.)

Faceless works pretty great with Stalagg & Feugen too. You actually get two Thaddius'. 22 damage is no joke.

BRM weirdness with Emperor Thaurissan aside, Asia ladder is still hell and still sucking at arena. More gold grinding to unlock BRM for me since I can't do endless arena runs :V

Surprised at the lack of rage at "I'VE GOT THE FUN IN MY SIGHTS" or "HUHUHUEHEHEHE" with GvGs arrival. That or there was so much rage the thread was just straight up abandoned.
Or face hunter.

If you really want to get better at the game, it'll take a lot of work. I mean, yeah, there's a chunk of RNG that can't be helped, but knowing the meta, having a well built deck, being able to do math quickly, and keeping track of what cards have been played give you much better odds of winning. Find a deck that looks fun and has proven success. Play it. Play it a lot. There's no other way to improve

EU dukefreeman#2533 I don't really play much after the miracle nerf but wouldnt mind picking up this game again so feel free to add me

you sort of can, but you have to set up an account on that server and don't share collections across servers

yea and you loose your collection so you have to start from scratch

So basically, League.
Thaaaat's great...
well you could of got the first wing of naxx for them all if that's any consolation? (though that was like a year ago)

Nope! Free first wing of Naxx was a limited time offer.

It was a very generous time offer, but limited nonetheless. Fortunately, or unfortunately depending on your card collection, gold is a very good investment in Naxx/BRM due to having guaranteed solid cards such as Death's Bite, Sludge Belcher and new favorite; Grim Patron.

Doesn't help that arena now only rewards GVG cards. It's great if you're lacking them, but there are so many Standard cards that are staples and you eventually hit a wall with GVG cards.

These new cards. Haven't played since Naxx came out but these effects are fun to play with.
