Beowulf Big Band Eliza
EDIT: 7/24/2015
Retooled my Beowulf Combo to enter the air more. Less damage, more reset opportunities, more corner carry. Learned three Beowulf Resets.

EDIT: 7/26/2015
Retooled my Big Band Combo for Taunt Ender, and a bit more damage. Learned a single Big Band reset. Starting to use resets more, and using mixups and crossups more effectively.

EDIT: 8/8/2015
Learned Big Band Resets and a Fast Fall. Pressure strings are better. Debating my next character.

EDIT: 8/22/2015
Picked up Eliza.

So I've had Skullgirls for a while now, and obviously I love it, but I seriously have had some issues getting good at it. It being my second fighting game (Starting on the rocky road of Calamity Trigger), I was/am a scrub, and since I had gotten a PS3 by the time I started to learn things other than chains and small combos, I had basically converted to Arcsys games. You know, the likes of Chronophantasma, Ultimax, Xrd. Stuff like that. So now I come back to Skullgirls after a very long time of considering it a "Once in a while" kind of game I never took seriously. After now becoming almost* tournament level at those aforementioned games (HUMBLE BRAG), I feel I can now appreciate Skullgirls way more than ever before, and see it as a very, VERY unique and enjoyable experience.

I'm so bad at it.

Basically, my close friend Meow-Professor has me on a life support of matches we play almost every day. That's really the only training I'm receiving.
I feel too weak for general online play, and therefore have basically just been playing her.
BUT TODAY.
TODAY, WAR CHANGES.

Assuming this is how any of this is supposed to be, I guess I'll list some stuff about how I am at the game or whatever.

A. Team
I use a two character team of Beowulf/Big Band. I feel confident with Beowulf, less with Big Band. Beowulf uses the [HP] Chair Toss assist, whereas Big Band uses Brass Knuckles [HP].

EDIT: 8/22/2015
Added Eliza to the team. Currently using Horus as an assist.

B. Combos
This is where I feel moderately ok with where I am. My combos are actually half decent, and (At least with Beowulf), I'm versed in converting with many moves. With Big Band I do worse, but as far as I know, my Beowulf combos are alright.

EDIT: 7/24/2015
Beowulf combo now does less, but has multiple reset opportunities, and a burst bait ender.

EDIT: 7/26/2015
Big Band combos are a bit better now, ending with a taunt, and doing a bit more.

C. Resets
Now, this is where the Arcsys scrublord in me takes over.
I don't really know a single reset. The only one I know is literally just a shabby delay on Beowulf's S.[HK] into the command grab. Other than that, which isn't even decent, I know nothing. And this is where I feel I need most definitely the most help.

EDIT: 7/24/2015
Learned multiple Beowulf Resets, still not good with Big Band's.

EDIT: 7/26/2015
Learned a small Big Band one. Gotten better with Beowulf's.

EDIT: 8/8/2015
Learned a Big Band Fast Fall. Some other resets.

D. Neutral
When it comes to neutral, I can fare alright. I generally struggle against characters such as Parasoul who can kinda dominate space better than me. Specifically Beowulf struggles against her, albeit not as much once his chair is removed, or if Big Band is alive to assist. However, in Blockstrings, I really don't have any idea what to do. Mixups and crossups are things I know how to do, but when it comes to safely applying them on a defending opponent...I struggle. I get beat out trying to pull them off, or just get predictable.

EDIT: 7/26/2015
Starting to pull off mixups and crossups more effectively. Losing neutral a bit less.

EDIT: 8/8/2015
Elongated my Beowulf pressure.

E. Defense
Look, I can block your attacks all day, Filia, but that isn't getting me out of pressure.
And that's the problem. I have enough patience to continue blocking pressure and resets, but when it comes to actually escaping those things, I have no clue. I try and pushblock, but don't know how to take advantage of it. Generally, I just end up blocking until I finally get hit, or my opponent does something simply too risky for me to NOT punish.

So in general, hitconfirms are difficult and blockstrings poor, resets are nonexistent, and some matchups are hard. I might need some help on combos, and generally I'm pretty shabby. Here's hoping I can get better.

Here's some stuff I'm (Sadly) doing currently.
Combos:
Beowulf: Cr.[LK] -> Cr.[MP] -> Cr.[HP] -> J.MP -> J.HP -> Air Wulf Blitzer [LK] -> 2[K] -> Cr.[LP] -> Cr.[MP] -> Cr.[HP] -> J.[MK] -> J.[HK] -> Cr.[LK] -> Cr.[MK] -> [1 Knee, Wulf Trepak]

Corner W/ Big Band Assist: Cr.[LK] -> Cr.[MP] -> S.[HP] -> Chair Toss [LP] -> Dash [66] -> J.[MP] -> S.[HK] -> Command Grab [5 Knees] -> Brass Knuckles [HP] -> J.[HK] -> S.[LK] -> Cr.[MP] -> S.[HP] -> [1 Knee, Da Grendel Killa]

Big Band: Cr.[LK] -> Cr.[MPx2] -> Giant Step [MK] -> Cr.[MPx2] -> Giant Step [HK] -> S.[MK] -> S.[HP] -> J.[LP] -> J.[MP] -> [J.MKx2] -> Cymbal Crash [MK] -> Taunt

Corner: Cr.[LK] -> Cr.[MPx2] -> Giant Step [MK] -> Cr.[MPx2] -> S.[HK] -> Brass Knuckles [MP] -> S.[MKx2] -> J.[LP] -> J.[MP] -> J.[HP] -> Cymbal Crash [HK] -> Taunt

Eliza: Cr.[LK] -> Cr.[MK] -> Cr.[HP] -> J.[MP] -> J.[HP] -> Air Dash [66] -> J.[LK] -> J.[MP] -> J.[HP] -> Cr.[MPx2] -> S.[HPx2] -> Dive of Horus -> Cr.[MK] -> S.[HPx3] -> Throne of Isis

Blockstrings:
Beowulf: Optional Dashing [LK] -> Cr.[LK] -> Cr.[MP] -> S.[HP] -> Wulf Blitzer [LK] -> [3K]
(-2, closes space well and puts me right up against them.)

Big Band: Cr.[LK] -> Cr.[MPx2] -> Giant Step [MK]
(At some spacings, Giant Step is safe. I think. I guess. Meter can punish it for sure, obviously.)

Eliza: Cr.[LK] -> Cr.[MK] -> S.[HPx2] -> Dive of Horus/Osiris Spiral [LK]

Resets:
Beowulf: Headbutt Grab Ender into S.[LP] -> Grab.
Cr.[HP] -> Wulf Blitzer [LP] -> 7[K] -> 2[K]
Cr.[HP] -> J.[LP] -> J.[LK] -> J.[MK] -> Land -> Dash [66] -> Optional J.[LK]/[HK] -> Cr.[LK]/Crossup J.[HP]/Grab

Big Band: J.[LK]/[MKx2] -> Air Grab
S.[MKx1] -> Jump -> J.[LP] -> Delayed J.[LK]/Immediate J.[LK] Air Grab -> Land -> S/C.[LK]/Grab/J.[LK]/Crossup J.[MK]

Eliza: Air series into Cr.[LP] -> Cr.[LK]/Grab/Horus/Isis

So hopefully I can receive some help. I would love to actually become decent at Skullgirls.
(That and I don't appreciate getting bodied like the casual I am.)

Hey there. You can check beowulf's reset thread for a few, but sadly its kind of little http://skullheart.com/index.php?threads/beowulf-resets.6871/

Let me start you off with the easiest beowulf reset imo. After a grab into headbutts, s.lp, grab.

I recorded a bunch of resets in my training diary. I suggest trying someone out and seeing if you like them. I don't guarantee best of quality. http://skullheart.com/index.php?threads/kyus-diary.6626/ .They are under their own spoiler.

Ah I play with Meow-Professor sometimes. Add me on steam and we could play some matches. There's probably things we could learn from each other.

Thanks for that first reset, I'll be sure to use it. And the resources. Those look very helpful.
Sure, we could arrange that. I'm online more often in the morning, so you can catch me anytime around then.

Updated with reset data.

Played 20-30 rounds. I thankfully won a majority of them, though I lack the information to decide whether it is due to my opponent's lacking skill, or myself doing well.

I now realize I must contribute more to my Big Band skills. I can defeat people with just Beowulf and Brass Knuckles, but when Beowulf dies, it ends up becoming much harder to actually do things. Gotta work on:

Big Band Resets and Blockstrings,
Big Band Combos(?),
And I need to work on my ground game. I kept getting beaten out in the air, and when I did, I struggled to approach grounded.

Played some more, approximately 15-20 rounds.

Now I'm actually able to reset people with Beowulf, almost enough to the point I feel confident in his resets. Also found a new Big Band combo that does around 300-400 damage more, and ends with a mostly safe taunt midscreen. In addition, found a albeit bad, Big Band reset. Also started using Geatish Trepak with Beowulf, since it has much better okizeme. Also learned some more optimal Big Band throw combos.

Started doing more crossups and mixups with Beowulf. The reason I felt unsure doing them beforehand was the ease of my opponent beating me out, but my combos now end in the proper okizeme and spacings for me to do them safely. also upped my ground game a bit, practicing against characters such as Parasoul, who gave me trouble. I now feel very confident in both of Beowulf's chair-stances on the ground, and as Big Band.

Also, learned some setups for both Beowulf and Big Band which allow the other to tag in, and a risky reset which tags in Beowulf.

Need to learn matchups better, now. Squigly is by far the one I have the most trouble with, since my only method of regulating her ability to acquire charges is by using Gigantic Arm, or Big Band's Assist. Double gives me some moderate trouble, and most of the time I just don't know most characters setups for their resets. I'll need to do some major researching here on SH. I need to figure out what is the best option to do at what points in their combos, and, when to alter that according to my opponent's habits.

(Tried Miss Fortune for the first time, I may actually pick her up in the future. While I dislike her character and personality, she is probably the character out of the roster I would pick up. Tips on her synergy with either of my current characters would be wildy appreciated, since I will probably still only play two-character teams, and not three.)

Gotta work on:
Big Band Resets
Specific Matchups
Enemy Reset Prediction

Long time since the last update, ha.
Played over the time since the last update over 130 games, learning more and more about matchups and stuff.

I've learned an effective Big Band fastfall, some more resets, and I'm doing better with pressure. Much better. I still grab a bit too much, but other than that I'm happy. With Big Band I'm still not confident, but I feel great with Beowulf's pressure.
I'm still needing some work on predicting resets and all that. I learn quickly from people's patterns, but not from round one to round two. Hopefully I can get a bit better from experience VS. each character, and stuff like that. The only character I still have trouble against is Squigly. She controls the match so easily when it comes to Beowulf, and Big Band still has problems with her. She outranges me, she can play the lame game if she needs to, and if I try to do anything I can just be Seria Center Stage'd and Battle Opera.
Now I'm starting to work on finding a third character.

I like Cerebella for the obvious reason of her being a grappler. She's decently fun, and I know a good enough combo to suffice, however I don't know many resets other than some J.LP stuff, and some S.HP stuff. And Kanchou, obviously. Her neutral is ok at the moment.

Then there's Miss Fortune, who I don't get the neutral of. I like her, and I have a very high damage combo for her, but her neutral is really tough for me. I can learn some resets easy, but the neutral is painful.

Probably the biggest problem with her is I hate the head mechanic but really like her with the head attached. I feel like I'm fundamentally doing something wrong by not using half of her.

So hopefully I can pick up one of the two. I'm not sure which works better with my current characters, so help would be appreciated. Also, I will still only be playing two character teams. I don't intend to play with three characters at once.

Gotta work on:
Deciding which character to pick up.
Big Band Pressure
Matchups VS. Squigly

Another long gap, but still an update prevails!
Lots of games, but most importantly, I'm picking up Eliza.

I know I said it was either Cerebella or Miss Fortune, but then I really tried Eliza and just fell in love. I plan on using her in conjunction with Beowulf, though I will still be playing all three, just not at the same time. Perhaps I'll try her with Big Band.

I kinda know how to deal with Squigly now. Still hate her guts, but I can do it. Getting over habits like upbacking and stuff VS. her. However, still a bit harder than other characters.

Big Band pressure is still bad, but Beowulf and Eliza are much better.

I really don't know where to go from here. I've worked out all of my flaws I myself can see (Other than spamming grab like a casual). I guess from here, it'll be changes more subtle, but I'll continue to work toward betterment. Hopefully I can improve in ways I cannot see at this point. I'll be practicing more with Eliza as of right now. Maybe in the future I can get some help on the problems I don't recognize.

Gotta work on:
Eliza neutral and combos.
Eliza resets.
Something something Eliza.

There are a few things you need to work on that I haven't really noted, I'll write them here for you.

First, you never reset me. You know resets but it seems like you have trouble actually doing them in a match, and a lot of the time you'll just finish the combo. I'm not sure if it is because of execution troubles or just forgetting about them, but resets are very useful and you need to start using them more.
As you mentioned, you use grabs constantly in places you shouldn't be using them. An occasional grab to catch me off guard is fine, but a lot of times you punish with them and throw them out without any good reason to do so.

With Beowulf you are very predictable. If I am away from you, you will jump back and j.HP. If I am near you, you will jump forward and air grab. Sometimes it is fine to stay on the ground and do other things. You never use your different tools/specials much; get more adjusted to them and their uses. You need to start mixing me up with his hop dash more, since you never really use it while I'm in pressure. You also never reversal, either, and when I'm pressuring you, you just kind of sit there.

With Eliza, your neutral isn't the best. You don't really know what to use when you're in the air, and you have trouble once I've gotten you in pressure.

Finally, as I've mentioned to you before, you need to learn how to PBGC. A lot of times you could punish me with it but it seems like you don't know how to do it reliably. Go into training and set your opponent to do a basic assist string and practice PBGCing it.

But I use resets on you, you scrublord.

That's because you don't know how to tech. :^)

[With Beowulf you are very predictable. If I am away from you, you will jump back and j.HP. If I am near you, you will jump forward and air grab.]
But it works.

I'm giving you a hard time because I know you're right.

But on the Beowulf jumping back J.[HP], I don't do that. I'm too idiotic and offensive to jump back.
It's jumping FORWARD J.[HP], I will have you know. Completely different.
You can punish jumping forward J.[HP]. ;-;
