Skullgirls: can't crouch and automatically jumps

When I bought Skullgirls I downloaded it, I launched it but I can't control the game with my keyboard it always goes up for some reason I always have to toggle out of the game and back in to actually just go into a match but when in the menu I can't scroll down and in a match my character won't stop jumping and to make him stop I have to hold down on the down arrow key so it technically renders the game unplayable. Please help would be appreciated :)
