Indivisible: Lab Zero's Action-RPG! (General Discussion)

Oh wow this entire time I figured all the incarnations being revealed were playable...

So what would the non-playable incarnations even do? Do they chill with the rest of the playable ones in Ajna's inner-realm?

The IGG actually talks about non playable incarnations:

Once she discovers it, Ajna’s Inner Realm becomes the central hub for the game, where most of the game’s quests, upgrade and saving functionality resides. Simply pressing a button will send Ajna inside herself, sparing players a lot of needless trekking back to towns. Your own custom town, anywhere, at the touch of a button!

Most of the game’s Incarnations are for expanding and adding functionality to Ajna’s Inner Realm.
For example, quests to upgrade your weapons and armor may come from a blacksmith Incarnation you discover, or a biologist might unlock a bestiary.

Oh wow I completely missed that

Welp, most of the ones I'm interested in seem fighter-y so here's hoping.

Keep in mind, "revealed" includes the first promo video. I can guarantee you that at least one of those characters (who did not get a bio during the campaign) was designed as not playable from the very beginning, so her statement can be true and still not depressing. :^) We have learned to be as honest as possible, because if we said "everyone revealed is playable" then I can also guarantee that someone would be mad about that character later.
If you still wanna overreact and be depressed, by all means go ahead. :^P But do it with ya facts straight.

But are the ones revealed on the IGG page mostly playable then? They all look battle-ready

I wouldn't worry too much about it. Out of the revealed incarnations, the only ones I see getting the NPC treatment would would be Nuna, Sangmu, Zhara, Toko, and Kogi, and that's only assuming any of the characters that had bios written for them are up on the chopping block.

I think a lot of the earlier characters up to Kaldi are relatively safe given that they were shown in an action shot.

I would say I agree with most of this, with the exception of even thinking Toko not being playable, but in the earliest teaser for Indivisible, the scottish guy can also be seen in the trailer and he was not revealed in the campaign.

So I am not sure about what happened with the fate of that guy is.

Lanshi was confirmed as playable. No one else was.

Ajna becomes NPC in full game. Lanshi is main character.

Why was the only confirmed playable of the new characters the dog, I mean the dog is great but why could they not confirm a character on my team :(

Hey, wait! The InDemand starts with 2 new Divinity Tiers, already taken? 2 more Backer Incarnation?

No.
One person *is* upgrading to a Divinity though.
I'm guessing the Divinity tier was left there so they can expand it to 3 slots and let that guy upgrade to the tier, then remove the tier or something.

I think 4 incarnations we've seen aren't gona be fighters. just my guess after some convoluted ready to sleep thinking.

If all Incarnations are Ajna and Ajna is all incarnations, doesn't that mean all incarnations are playable!

( I'm not gonna stress about this, all it means is they can cut characters if they need to or if they're not popular and it also means they can add them or tweak them. But man if there was a stretch goal to make ALL of them playable that'd be sick! )

Honestly I was hoping the chef character was playable but honestly I'm not going to loose sleep if he's not I'll just be disappointed. Here's hoping at least most of them are playable (cmon magical scientist).

So question, the campaign has just ended at 1,870,000 which is not enough for the opening animation however it is enough for full voice acting (based off the logic that it will cost 150k since thats the difference between the opening animation and the voice acting tier). Does this mean we might just get voice acting with the extra cash?

I think he looks really cool. Given his tongue sticking out in a mischievous style, his chest being shown, and pants that have holes to show his thighs, I expect Paheal to fill up with this guy very soon.

Here's a few of the $60 sketches from the stream.

Do we know if they will all get posted in their full high res lossless glory at some point?

Personally, if I had to pick 5 to be relegated to be non playable, i'd go with Kaldi, Thorani, Zahra, Hassam, and Kogi. All of them I think would work just as well as NPC's as in battle if not better as NPCs, or at least would work better as them then others. (How would Naga rider as an NPC even work?)

Also, @Mike_Z , in the stream, you said more divinity tiers could be available if people were okay with how the incarnations are obtained being sorta generic and arbitrary. How many slots would open up? I know of at least 3 people who were looking to donate to that tier, one of whom apparently already cleared the design with alex. I asked this a couple of times in the stream so I apologize if it was seen but intentionally not answered.

EDIT: In a /v/ thread, an additional pair of people are saying they are disappointed the 10k tiers ran out and wanted to submit. So that's at least 4 people who want it assuming the prior 1 I knew of from /vg/ is one of the two people here.

There's slacker backers so it's likely they'll hit animation tier.... considering it has like a year or so up? They also apparently build extra cost into certain tiers for the later tiers. So don't just go based off the listed prices. ( Though I get the problem it kinda sucks to imagine getting VO's instead of a cool new dungeon, But that's how it is and no use complaining. )

The chef guy is awesome! I'm okay if characters aren't playable but I really hope every incarnation will have a loyalty quest tied to them. ( So finding ingredients for chef guy's ULTIMATE RECIPE ) or something like that.

Don't we already have a magical scientist? That robotish guy? He literally worked in a wizard tower and uses SCIENCE.

Yo, we got a pretty boi.

Still no story or name for him.

RIP Scottsman and Whistler.

My inner Vega fan is raging.
...He's really attractive, shit. I really hope he's playable.

I would hope there's more then one opening up, based on what I said here. Is there any disadvantage to them having more slots up besides the development time for making the incarnations?

That would be me, I inquired with the team last night during the stream and after discussing it with Mike I was able to arrange it officially with Peter/Ravidrath before the campaign officially ended, however bank issues only allowed me to successfully process 8K of the cost so far (plus my Patron Saint money was refunded without my knowledge so I need to receive it back in order to resend it), I also need to hear back from Lab Zero with methods to Paypal them directly now that payment options have been reduced on Indiegogo.

PS - The character won't be my Skullgirls NPC Chainer but an original one just for Indivisible once approved by the team.

From what I remember the 10k tier either doesn't fully cover the cost of implementing an incarnation, or at least comes so close to not profiting that it's not worth the massive amount of work needed to make many of them. Think of how much work goes into an incarnation - at least 4 attacks, idles, hits, movement, falling, etc. Animation, cleanup and coloring all required. All the development time that needs to go into the character before any of that is even decided on. Then they need voice acting, implementation into the game, balance, blah blah. That starts to pile up to 10k pretty quick.

If you have a ton of these Divinity tiers floating around the amount of work needed to make them will start to eat into the 2 year ish planned development time.

Just because they *could* open up Divinities to loads of people, it may not actually be a good thing.

...course I could be misremembering all this and be completely talking out of my ass, so apologies if I am!

Welp, if he can't fight, here's hoping Haggis McPlaid treats me to a good game of golf every once in a while.

I will take any of the incarnations I like not being playable as long as Sangmu is, just for the fact her battle animations are guaranteed to be absolutely amazing.

Also, wasn't there a third archer in the original trailer? Guess he's out.

I think there's some confusion here, where was it stated that the other incarnations got canceled and won't show up during the actual production of the game?

Well half of my endgame party will be guests [which are confirmed playable unless they weren't?] so hopefully the 2/28 odds work in my favor.

We can hit the anime opening, but it's gonna be a slow crawl and likely slower as the InDemand drags out.

I say at least Nuna is probably going out of combat, at least for me.

If the dog was already confirmed playable i wouldn't immediately write out little girls either. Do we even know that they decide based on combat prowess? It could just as easily be decided by story relevance too since it matter more compared to SG.

Also, I forgot to mention this before, but a post somewhere else reminded me: I absolutely loved Mariel's sketch of Pheobe. I'm not a fan of her design as shown in the color art on the IGG but she looks fantastic in the sketch shown on stream by her. Not sure if this is made by anybody at l0 but I like her here more as well.

We know how much the characters will change between now and the final game, but I imagine the difference here is more of style rather then proportions like Tenoch, so I doubt it'd change, sadly (IMO of course).

Anyways, holy crap, the campaign is over and it's funded! Finally sunk in when I went to go check the IGG a few mins ago and realized I don't have to anymore.

EDIT: Actually it's mainly just her torso and legs being less wide, so I guess it would just bee a proportional change.

I've also seen a pic floating around of phoebe with more visibly muscular legs, kinda liked that a lot.
But I understand that, at least for women, fat stores in their thighs first so I can see it being realistic that her quadriceps isn't showing.

During last stream Mariel said something about not all incarnations being playable. Nothing else.

Yes, on the same stream it was confirmed all guests will be playable.

This one?

yes, but it also made her generally less wide which is a change I don't particularly like
but the visible quadriceps is a nice touch, maybe make it a little less visible than that (like her other muscles) but still visible nonetheless

I imagine Dhar is one of those unplayable Incarnations, and that he's there for story rather than gameplay.

I seriously doubt that Dhar, the "tutorial incarnation", will not be playable. How is the first incarnation she accidentally absorbs, one that knows how to fight, not going be used to explain the combat system?

And this statement:
"Keep in mind, "revealed" includes the first promo video. I can guarantee you that at least one of those characters (who did not get a bio during the campaign) was designed as not playable from the very beginning, so her statement can be true and still not depressing. :^) We have learned to be as honest as possible, because if we said "everyone revealed is playable" then I can also guarantee that someone would be mad about that character later."

Can be very easily interpreted as "the ones who received bios are pretty much guaranteed to be playable". I mean, most of the bios mention their fighting style. If any of those (the ones that got bios) ends up not being playable, I think it will be because they couldn't for some reason. Not because they weren't planned to. Calm down, people.
