Well first things first:

Here's a thing where I play against #FukuaTwerkTeam. Please analyze me.

a long set against Drewski. Spoilers: I lose a lot. Feel free to comment on what I need to work on.

Things to work on:
  • Remember your damn resets instead of using the same 2 simple ones that keep working on QM for some reason.
  • Stop being predictable... maybe
  • Learn options to deal with reversal supers or whatever.
  • Learn to cover beat extend assist without risking getting happy bday'd
  • How do I Big Band?
    • What's the neutral game? How do I get agressive, or
    • Try incorporating sweep more?
    • learn some resets
  • Bella
    • Start using LnL as a Focus Attack against obvious jump ins.
    • Sweep more
  • Val
    • Chuck shurikens more, be more lame.

Thanks for uploading! :)

I would say you might wanna work on your execution first, but that video was also from a set already 20 games deep so it's understandable. I was playing a little wacky too.

Crossup setups with Val are rly hard to block (for me at least) and a lot of times when you would go for ground resets, I'd mash out. Consider sticking to air or crossup resets when playing against BB or Bella (or possibly just me :s). You gotta watch for when I cal LnL. A lot of times you were just staring me in the face when I would defensiely call it. It's definitely not that kind of assist, especially if you're using bella or BB. This is all pretty much just matchup experience stuff, so my best advice to you is to just play more. :)

Try incorporating sweep more?
Yes! BB has one of the most useful sweeps in the game, if not the most. Safe, a low that isn't LK, huge range, tall enough to hit airborne opponents, and even though it won't lead to a combo it still does 1200 damage I think.

Thanks for the tips. There were times where I know I hit the button but the game decides the combo. Oh well.

I have a reset after launcher involving delayed beat extend assist and savage bypass, but always forget about it outside of training mode. Also haven't tested how safe it is, but meh.

Notes:
-Get gud at tech chasing after sweeps/knockdowns
  • Big Band
    • two button dashing + buffering back charge for A-train
    • H Giant step
  • Bella
    • Keep doing tumble run after sweep
  • Val
    • Call LnL + bypass
    • whiff crossup bypass xx EKG

Big Band
    • two button dashing + buffering back charge for A-train

2-button dashing is the way to go, also note that it lets you parry out of a dash so it can be used to get in.

@dragonos451 must be spinning in his fucking grave for my bella play..........never again.
I can't comment on any bella play, I fell asleep after watching 30 sec of point filia (I find that character extremely boring to watch).
And thank you but I'm not dead. Well maybe I will be when I'll find the courage to get through the whole vid, but I think I have a higher resistance to suicide than that :p

Posting some stuff I should incorporate into my game but never do. Also found something funky Val can do against Big Band midscreen.

@drewski there's a Big Band + LnL assist combo (or 2) just for you in there

Note to self:
Try incorporating stuff you find in training mode instead of flowcharting and autopiloting.

Edit: probably not gonna change for a while....

So tried team scoop...
Val (H Bypass)/Bella (Diamond Drop)/Band (M A-Train)

Learned that I'm a sadistic fuck that sees the opponent's assists as nothing but something for Bella to Hat Gun Punch in the face. It's like relearning my neutral game without the LnL life. Used to be able to punish every assist call and make every dumb thing I do safe.
Now it's more of me trying to read when to switch from Diamond Drop to A-Train assist.

The idea is to do short combos with Val that end with sliding knockdown so I can relentlessly mess with the opponent's head. Maybe even do a lag vial. Unfortunately, that requires training the opponent to get scared, and I need to start learning to read people.

Reposting this here as a reminder to experiment more with Val's s.hp.

So I noticed that my neutral game has devolved into doing a whole lot of nothing. Which allows the opponent to get in a lot. And I want those Val dead cross changes now.

Trying to actually learn Big Band instead of relying on the assist, so tried solo Band on QM. This is so I'm forced to adapt to a read-heavy playstyle cuz I'm braindead. Problem is once I get a read I don't know how to keep up the pressure with BB. With Val it's easy, and Bella always has the threat of a command grab. Dunno how to make my Big Band scary unless if I'm always getting reads right.

Also match ups with Parasoul, Bella, Fukua, and Peacock(esp. w/ Brass assist) suck ass. Parasoul I can empty jump in and buffer a parry in case of pillar, but in neutral her pokes seem to beat any normal BB can throw out.

I regret not recording something I did online. Came across ZerotheFox on QM. Solo Painwheel vs my Solo Band.
What quickly started as a serious game with a lot of jumping in neutral became a memory game with jumping and teabagging. And then the memory game ended when he added flight mode to the routine. What a troll.

Seriously tho. Teabagging memory games. Make it happen @Dreamepitaph

Also there might be hope for Big Band. He seems to be a counter to Eliza. Her blockstrings are hella long and can easily be pbgc'd. Even without the green flash she doesn't have a hard counter to SSJ unless if she has 3 bars. And ending a blockstring with servant summon is easily reactable for BRASSSSSSSSS.

Haven't really touched this game since before thanksgiving.
Played a set against Fenster. Holy crap I've degraded.

Things to note:
-I've stopped confirming everything into bypass + LnL bnbs, which were the basis of my damage.
-I've forgotten a lot of my resets
-My big band is still ass
-Neutral game is so neutral I ain't doing much
-I down back A LOT and play pretty braindead. I've stopped trying to read the opponent really.
-Eliza matchup? All I know is pbgc her long blockstrings, go for throw if blockstring -> Horus summon

Aw man I'm not remembering any of my resets. It's good that I'm out of doing the same resets all the time but damn now I'm not doing any.
Also before I took a break I was playing solo band to get into the head of making reads all the time and learning Band. Now I don't think at all and my Band is even more ass.

Need to punish assists more but also pay attention to the point character

practicality unknown. if it can be truly be used as a throw escape/armor OS then amazing.

could you explain what you do and what happens exactly?

I'm using the Tiger Knee input motion (QCF+upforward) so I can cancel a superjump into LnL. I'm guessing I'm cancelling the pre-jump frames, which is good enough to escape grabs.

when done right you'll notice a dust cloud around the LnL, indicating a superjump.

ah, that trick.
If someone manages to use that consistently in a real match, I'll clap.

After trying to use the input to consistently escape throws in training mode, I deem it hard as shit to pull off.
Since you're cancelling the prejump frames, you will be grabbed if you cancelled the jump too early, or if your input was so fast you didn't even get the prejump. Input the punch too late and you just get a super jumping normal and aren't a cool guy.

And command grabs (Mortuary Drop, L A-Train, Diamond Drop) will totally fuck with your timing. I'm just gonna throw it into the CMV and wonder if someone will ever do it in a recorded match.

FUCK ME
it took till sonicfox's 1/23/2015 stream to learn that Val's green vial also increases hitstun.
Do I even play this game?

Also? What else does it do? :s

shit did I say hitstun? I meant blockstun.
lvl2 and lvl3 green vials also reduce undizzy. I wanna say lvl2 removes 30 and lvl3 removes 50, but that's just talking out my ass.

lvl2 removes 50 and lvl3 removes 100.

Played a long set against Dawn111. I'm such a washed up casual now.
Problem: Once I get hit my brain turns off and I don't even guess what the mix up is.

Possible solution: Gonna need to figure out a better neutral game. Play each char solo. Learn to adapt and counter the opponent's neutral so I'm harder to open up. And once I get the hit, keep the pressure constant if they block the mixup, spend all meter to milk the kill. I have a problem not killing characters. And a problem on using new resets.

Other problem: motivation to play other people isn't as present as it used to be. Quick match is braindead and I'm currently more content just screwing around in training mode.

Side note: Val's s.hp at midrange is an amazing tool to fish for counter hits. Might be a great tool in the Bella matchup. The start up of the move makes her take a step back, so c.mp and jump ins will whiff and eat it if they're read correctly. With LnL assist you can convert those stray hits with a combo. Problem is if you read them wrong and they completely jumped over you through the entire animation. It's not a good anti-air.

Other shit that I still have never bothered learning for some reason or just never do:
-Bella and Big Band double snaps
-varied incoming mixups
-incoming mixups with L beat extend assist

@Datagram @Colossi @anyotherplayerthatdoesordidVal+LnL

Based on tech from over 6 months ago, and now I finally have a practical use to it!

Edit: NOTE - filia/fukua's crouching hit box does not get hit by it cuz reasons.

I seem to have forgotten that with Val + LnL all I need against trios is 2 touches and 1 meter starter to kill a character. Why I'm doing all these resets idk.

Well, it's not like I've been playing the past few weeks, but figured I'd update this in case if anyone wonders.
Gonna be down in the Philippines. RIP/AFK from sg for about a month.

I had a dream where mike liked the tk lnl post that can act as an OS but is really hard to pull off.

....jet lag is some serious shit.

So now that I got a job and am taking grad classes, I gotta be a responsible adult and give up fun time. Also learn time management. Yay.
Well, they said my job is busiest only during the fall and spring. Not much work going on in the winter and summer, so I guess I won't be on as much till then. Oh well.

If I think about it, I've been stagnant and pretty comfortable at the level where I am(I down-back too much and call Beat Extend like an idiot). Maybe one day I'll actually try to start a Val combo compendium and finish the recordings all the tutorials. And maybe one day I'll learn Robo and Wulf. Maybe.

Hey I did grad school and still played SG you have no excuse :^)

In my defense, you were a TA tho. I'm now a recruiter for my college so it's more erratic and I gotta attend all these events and somehow find time to write all these papers.

Welp. After coming back from Richmond I found my PC wont fucking turn on. Gonna wait till cyber monday to acquire new power supply.
after thanksgiving I won't be doing events as much, so might come back to playing then. Might even check out xanadu some day
