Fukua Filia Ms. Fortune
Fukua is my favorite character. But skullgirls is my first fighting game I actually cared about. I love the game but I just figured out how to do a quarter circle punch. Any tips for a noob

From a semi-noob: find some friend to play with. The game requires a lot of practice and it is better to do it with somebody.

And... Do the tutorial! It's really well done!

A dragon punch (aka DP, that Z thingy) is simply doing forward (or back) going back to neutral then doing a quarter circle.
It took me half a lifetime of hating fighting games to learn.

When I had problems with analog stick movements, I found the training room helped. In there, you can bring up all kinds of info on screen...even button inputs. It's under training option in the start menu. You can set inputs display to 'list'. Then you can watch what you're doing with the analog stick or D-Pad.

If you are having issues with doing the inputs fast enough, you can even turn the speed of the game down. If you do this, be careful not to get used to the slower speed.

The training room is your best friend

Hi hello Fukua is my favorite character to!!! I'm not exactly sure how I could help but let me know if you have a particular question related to Fukua. I'm decent with Fukua and might be able to help a little

Regarding execution things like doing quarter circle inputs or DP motions, it sucks but the only way to get reliable is to practice them in training mode until you have the muscle memory to do it, there's not much of a shortcut.

Regarding the game, PLAY THE WHOLE TUTORIAL FIRST before trying to play against people. The tutorial in skullgirls is one of the best tutorials in any fighting game and will definitely teach you the basics of what you need to know. After you've got that down then you can start looking for people to play against (playing single player against cpus can be helpful when you're just starting out but as in any fighting game if you play against the computer too long then you end up picking up habits that work against the computer but not people). Don't go on quick match yet though; find other beginners to play with. After "play the tutorial", "find people at your level to play against" is the biggest piece of advice I can give. Not only will you feel better because you aren't getting mopped every game, but having a group of people in the same situation as you will encourage you to improve (who doesn't love beating their friends?), which will make THEM want to get better, and so on.

As far as character selection, Fukua is a great character to start the game with. She's this game's "jack of all trades, master of none" and her combos are very easy compared to the rest of the cast (though no one in this game is THAT hard to learn so don't feel like you are stuck with just fukua if you decide later you want to learn someone else, you can).

I completely agree with @Pickles. The tutorial is a huge help, even tho I shill can't complete a few on chapter 4. Unfortunately, newbies and beginners come and go fairly fast in this game. I'm running into a huge problem with finding people of similar skill (I get perfrct'd most every quick match I'm dumb enough to join). Feel free to add me. SG is currently the only game I'm playing because I'm desperately trying to get past a bad funk.

Adding most anyone you play against is a good idea too. Get destroyed in a match? Ask the person what happened. They usually give you tips on what you did wrong or right...then tone it down for the next match to make it fair (personal experience)

Welcome to Skullgirls lol. I ran into the same problem this past week. But the sooner you start looking into other characters, the better. I have found that in learning Ms. Fortune, I have cleaned up my inputs on Valentine and can now complete my combos more often
