[Apr 30, 2016] XenoEncore - Skullgirls & Street Fighter 5! (New York, NY)

For everyone driving here, I'm going to look at the parking situation tomorrow since its my day off and I've been really bad about getting that information to you guys. There are two parking lots in the area, so I'll get you guys their locations and the amount they charge.

Okay so this is the cheapest one I found so far in the area. The other one costs like over $45 to stay there for the day.

Delancey and Essex Municipal Parking Garage
107 Essex Street, north of Delancey Street
356 spaces, including eight spaces for people with disabilities
Open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week
Cashier/Toll Operation

Rates
$4.50 for the first hour, $2 per hour for additional hours (66 spaces)
Lost ticket charged from 12:01 am (day of entry)

Will update this post with more later if I can find another good one.

Rules updated for SG. Every set will be 3/5 this tournament.

Oh shit I guess I never posted this in THIS thread, but, I talked to Jamie about the Skullgirls tournament at GU happening this same weekend. He moved Skullgirls to Sunday, so there isn't actually any conflict with this event. So, I'll be there! I'm bringing Tommer

Hey guys, thank you everyone who came out to support the event! It means a lot that everyone who plays SG from NY/NJ came out, and that players from states that are 4+ hours away also came through. I hope you all had a good time, and that the tournament was fun for everyone. If there's anything I could have done better, or if you had any thoughts on the way we had things set up (set ups, seats, stream) please feel free to let me know! Also if there are other games you might want to see?

To everyone new who came out, it was very nice to meet you guys! I hope to see you all again soon.

Also thank you to @render for being so generous and giving me a ton of SG PS4 codes so we could run the tournament!

I want to make this a monthly event, but I will skip May. I'll let everyone know when the next one is.

I guess the only suggestion I have is don't kick us out at 10pm. I wanted to watch the rest of NWM on the projector. I don't know if that's a reasonable suggestion tho.

Oh actually I thought of something else. I had a real hard time getting comfortable on that couch that's used for the stream setup. If I was just sitting in it I think it would be a fine couch, the issue was that if I sat all the way back in it, my stick would be at a weird angle. Like I normally play with it perpendicular to the floor. I had to sit right on the edge of the couch to get it level. idk rewatching the stream it seems like I was the only stick player who had this problem but I still want to mention it cause I thought it was super annoying.

That couch looks dope. I am upset to hear it was not comfortable. Players going upstairs to play their stream matches while the commentary is downstairs is a wicked cool setup tbh.

Yeah I was very impressed with the whole upstairs downstairs aspect of the stream station. And again it's a perfectly comfortable couch if all you were doing is sitting in it, I just found it awkward to play video games in.

Biggest problem we've run into at every monthly/weekly/whatever I've played in or ran is how close to the stream setup the stream setup is. Players can hear commentators and it's really distracting to the players. We solved this issue at MAXOUT years ago, but having the stream setup and stream station on two separate floors is a great solution.

You also get to walk upstairs to play your matches which is cool, it's like you're ascending to the pantheon or something.

Yeah this was one of the things I talked to people at the venue about. I personally didn't really like the couch that much, it was kinda weird to me. We may or may not put the couch where the projector was and have normal chairs upstairs for the future, but not sure about that yet.

Also funny enough you normally can hear the commentators from upstairs but the game/speakers were so fukin loud you couldn't hear them so it worked out. God those things were really loud. Someone had it at like max when I went upstairs I could not believe it.

Is there any way to get headphones up there connected to the stream consoles? The game was so loud, and everyone was getting hype, I just wanted to listen to the game at a reasonable level. Other than that, I liked everything. I normally sit on the edge of my seat anyway, so the couch was fine for me.
