Guilty Gear Thread

Overpowered how? And if she was, why didn't I see any of her in top 8?
Elphelt hasnt been in either evo top 8 for guilty gear yet she is considered one of the best (or was) characters in the game

tourney placements dont determine a characters strength.

Her overall neutral dominance for /not even trying/ to play neutral purely because of hr ability to spawn moving hitboxes was a very strong tactic mixed in with her impressive moveset and easy to use movelist.

Her moveset revolves heavily around her servants. Sure, she can fight on her own, but her options are very limited and most of her specials are for the servants. All it takes to get rid of them is to hit her once. Low specials like grand viper can get rid of the houses. If a character doesn't have that option, they can still hit Jack-O to get rid of any servant coming. What's left for Jack-O, besides her normals, are her D attacks that cost meter, command grabs, and running away to restart her houses if they're destroyed. Her overdrives are an aerial attack that deal less damage than a normal one and another command grab.

EDIT: also cooldowns

she had no cooldowns for any of her servant focused attacks such as tossing the huts which had a level 4 property to them and was a better version of a move they heavily nerfed from Elphelt.

Her gameplan revolves around the minions yes however she is a completely viable and solid character without them. They just help contribute to the powerhouse that is jack-o

Her D moves user meter but don't REQUIRE meter they just get buffed if meter is used, she also PASSIVELY GAINS METER while near her huts to the point that they had to nerf how much meter she gained because it allowed her too much of an advantage against opponents

her aerial super has full startup invincibility and is plus on block as well as leads into a combo on hit. She had some of the best disjointed hitboxes in the game and amazing frametraps with her slash attacks

I don't know who you're trying to fool with saying she isn't an overpowered character but it isn't me, I play a lot of this game and have been playing fighting games for over a decade.

Learn the difference between "broken" and "overpowered" someone being overpowered does no imply they are game breaking or the best character in the game.

Fair enough. Honestly, the fact that her game plan revolves around her servant and the houses are places a handicap on her. She can be viable by herself, sure, but it's hard to compete with mostly normals against other characters that have arguably better ones and specials. The constant need to keep her houses alive and avoid getting touched to keep her servants alive puts a crutch on her. This is in addition to having to beat the opponent to actually win the round. The other characters only need to worry about staying alive and beating the opponent.

I don't think EA575 is trying to fool anyone to be honest. Anyone who's been following Jack-O since her release almost a year ago already knows she's just a solid mid tier character. I really don't know what you're going on about right now. A lot of the things you said are wrong too. Both Ground and Air Calvados are not 1f fully invuln. The air version only gets invuln on the 7f and only strike invuln. You can still throw it. The ground version gets feet invuln on 3f until the end. Only the burst enhanced version of both versions get 1f invuln and even then it's only until the super flash. You can still throw her out of it on reaction to the super flash.

Jack-O also doesn't really have frame traps with her slash attacks. I have no idea what you're talking about. The closest thing I can think of is c.S being +3 on block or maybe max spaced f.S > 3HS. Neither of these are as good as they sound.

...I'm not even sure what to say about that claim that Ghost Throw was better than Elphelt's grenade. I don't know if you just completely overestimate Ghost Throw or you just don't know how much utility Elphelt's grenade actually gives her but your thoughts here are pretty wrong.

Don't get me wrong. Jack-O is a solid character but to say she's overpowered in a version of the game where Johnny, Elphelt, Zato, Milia and Sin were as good as they were is complete crazy talk as far as I'm concerned.

so apparently Dizzy's out now

does she have her own arcade story?

Dizzy is now officially out in NA. For some reason, most of the first footage of her on YouTube is focusing on her Instant Kill (which she finally has a normal motion for), so here's a perfectly normal family dispute:

watching stream footage, i just noticed the fairy that shows up on Dizzy's stages sometimes in between rounds.

is that Bonnie, Dr. Paradigm's assistant from GG2?

X2#Reload and Isuka are being delisted from Steam on August 1st, get em while you can.

at least I got X2. that one is super fun. I haven't heard much good things about Isuka though.

So Digital Figure Mode for Xrd was shown at TGS. Even though I don't see myself spending a bunch of time in this mode it's just something extra to add to the overall game which is cool.

I seen that mode in plenty of games, but rarely in a fighter.

Smash Bros did it first

I too got Revelator.
prepare for me to play lots of Jam and Sin.

You know Rev doesn't have a dub either right? Kind of odd to protest over a situation in a different game when this game has the same 'issue'.

Rev only had dub in one game before. Blazblue had every game in the series fully dubbed and the grand finale suddenly won't
Yeah, and I fully blame Xrd Revelator for starting the trend, call me childish or stupid for not getting the game for that but I'm sticking by my reasons until BB gets the dub, I don't care of GG doens't ever get a dub again.

So how is that GG's fault?

It is a way to cut corners on the release budget. It has been a trend for the past several years and this is one of the more significant releases because it went from English dub in one game then no dub for the next game. I don't plan to pick up BB because IMO the Japanese dub was very annoying in those games in comparison to the dialed down conversations of GG.

it's definitely too late for CF to be dubbed but since there's inevitably going to be an updated version down the line, they'll probably dub that one, due to the outcry they've been getting

I see two ways that could backfire:

  1. CF sells well enough for ASW to think that they don't need to have an English dub in order for BlazBlue to be successful. Next game comes undubbed.
  2. CF doesn't sell well due to not having an English dub. A confused ASW thinks "North America just doesn't want BlazBlue anymore" and decides to not release any new BlazBlue game in North America.

So I've been playing around with Jam, and she really feels good. Like, I love her card mechanic in this game (goodbye dust cards though. :'( I'll miss you dearly) and I like that you can chain her kick specials like in X2. If that was also doable in XX, then I'm sorry, I didn't know that stayed. I'm still trying to get the timing of that one input timing super. It's really hard.

Interesting...watching some videos it seems like Rapid Cancles are much more prevalent here than they are in Blazblue, and supers seem to be a bit less like combo enders.

I love the look of Bedman and Faust so I will be trying out these guys first, before moving on with the rest of the roster to find someone that fits me.

I also love Jam's not too great grammar skills. Not like "oh HERRO", but definitely enough to make her cute(r).
