This thread is simply to discuss which FG bosses are the most difficult, maybe we even tier them. I made it simply so we can talk about how cheap a boss is, exploits to beat him, how much they make you rage, best character to use on them etc. Maybe you pull out some ancient or unpopular game and turn us on a new challenge!

To kick things into gear, I'm going to out and say (Fukua story)Filia is way Harder than Marie, Marie may have the no hitstun cheapness but Filia has some nice combos.

Jinpachi from Tekken 5. Good lord, that guy was a nightmare. All the other fights before him were easy or decently challenging, but then you get to this demonic jerk who just wipes the floor with you over and over again. This guy hits hard and fast. Plus, he has two moves in particular that suuuuuck.

First off, his stun attack. It leaves you vulnerable for about a second or two. In that time period, he will either follow up with a combo or unleash one of his most devastating attacks, Emma's Fury. This is basically a fireball that takes off a good portion of health. If I remember correctly, I think it was about 1/3. Even worse, he sometimes fires two of them in rapid succession. So, you really have to be on your toes.

I honestly recommend setting the rounds to win to 1. It will save you much frustration.

What irks me a bit is a huge difficulty spike going from regular fights to the boss.
I want to play the regular fights on normal or hard, but the boss almost requires I set it to easy.
Of games I've played-

KOF: Magaki, O. Rugal, Igniz
X-Men COTA: Magneto
CvS2: O. Rugal
SFIII: Gill (I used extreme defense, lots of throws, and time out wins)
GG: I-No
BB: Enemies near end of Abyss 999 (souped-up stylish Tager was my only chance to win)

As a completionist, I wouldn't stop til I'd seen all endings, so I learned how to use the cast of each game as best I could, but some characters were much tougher than others...

Personally I hate when a game makes you unlearn everything that would work on other characters; Marie(not THAT hard but still BS) Galactus, Tabuu

Gill's probably my favorite fighting game boss, but I don't think he's the hardest. His AI is surprisingly fair when you consider what he's really capable of doing. Same thing for Ivan Ooze.

Actually, my pick for the hardest boss is Mike Tyson. He counts, right? Oh man, Mike punched the hopes and dreams right outta me as a kid. I can only imagine the types of calls the Nintendo Hotline was getting back when his reign of terror began!

Of course, SNK bosses are notorious too, but since I only owned a couple of SNK games, I honestly can't recall many particular experiences against them. I just knew that once I made it to the guy wearing the fancy trenchcoat, or the guy in the giant flowing robe, it was time to get my ass kicked.

Any unlimited Character.

OH GOD I did not touch unlimited mode after doing it with Taokaka.

night terror in soul calibur 3, jesus christ i have no idea what they were thinking
Also standard snk boss answer

Persona 4 Arena Score Attack.

Especially Chie.

Chie is easy. You just have to keep countering her attacks. ELIZABETH, on the other hand, is a frigging nightmare.

Story of my life when all I played was Tekken 5.

Gotta love how fighting games always seem to have some dirty, rage-inducing bosses. I tend not to worry about them anymore though, since now my goal in all the fighting games I play is to beat other people, not some AI. Jinpachi was indeed a pain, and special mention also goes to Azazel and Nancy from Tekken 6, and Shao Khan from MK9. However, they do have exploits.

Dural from Virtua Fighter. it has an attack where it just humps the air and it hits you even if you're not in front of it. dead serious.

Shao Kahn at the end of Mortal Kombat 9's Story Mode.
Fucker reads your button inputs I swear to Zeus almighty.
It's funny that Shao Kahn is basically god in story mode, but in arcade ladder he's weaker than Shang.

Shao Kahn and Kintaro from MK2 were a pain in the ass too.

I would count Marukka from Thrill Kill aswell, very tough fight.

Try playing the old MK's, Shao Kahn is WAAAAAYYYYY worse.

Has there ever been a fun fighting game boss fight?
They're always the most unpleasant thing ever, its either jumping and spamming heavies or timing out unfair souped up characters.

Well I see Jinpachi has been posted already. Fucker didn't go down unless I spammed the Triple kick move with Brian or used Asuka.

IMO all cpu fighting in fighting games is boring.

Mostly because fighting games are all about pshycic reading someone, so when you get an ai opponent, who gets the hit is either 100% obscure pattern memorization or luckshit rng. When you get challenging with it, it just becomes stupid.

Inferno from Soul Calibur 2.

Isn't KI doing something about it? Like, using player data to create A.I that acts like real players? The shadow system i guess, i've seen shadows even teabagging. And if i'm not mistaken, one of the difficulty levels actually try to learn your habits as a player instead of only reading your inputs.

About Fighting game bosses, i don't know what was most difficult to me, i can deal with nightmare Marie with Filia, but i can't do it with parasoul, she is very BS to me. =P

I like Gill, but i like the character, i play 3s arcade mode from time to time, and is fun to beat him, he is cheap, sure, but he is still fun.

But i hate seth, i hate the character, i hate the boss fight, i've lost hours against this creature.

Yeah, character choice is important.

Marie: "What do you mean you can't deflect? Okay, maybe you can try jumping in the air and firing a large chest laser? No? Hm..."

Seth vs Sakura: Pain. So much pain. Seth vs Zangief, casually picking him up and trying him out for pretty much the first time: Spin to win! "Whose face is in whose crotch NOW, you shiny chrome Cossack?"

Until the Turing Test is passed, I'll remain skeptical ;)

The future, Learning A.I.

Just to be clear, i don't believe that is actually the future or anything like that, i think is just a cool thing to "teach" the A.I. xD

NIGHTMARE MARIE 300%

Tekken Tag Tournament 2 Jun/Unknown Boss on hardest difficulty. WTF is even a counter anyway?

Abyss Marvel vs. Capcom 2; Hahahaha. Why.

And finally the most OP Boss in the Tekken series by far. You know the one. The big thing from Tekken 6? That is right...

NANCY-MI847J like why does this thing even appear I hate seeing it and fighting it I mean if you don't kill it in a certain time it will just cut the ground beneath you like why?

Abyss is actually kind of fun because most of his attacks are very telegraphed (aside from some phase 2 stuff) and there are some fun ways to stunlock him.

Unlimited Hazama on BlazBlue, Azazel in Tekken 6, I-no on Guilty Gear XX AC+, every SNK fighting game boss I've faced(I played KOF '98 UM, KOF '01, KOF '02 UM, KOF XI(fuck what's-his-name), and KOF XIII(fuck Dark Ash)), Mauler in Fighting Vipers.

Those are the fighting game bosses I HATE!

Dunno about hardest but Jinpachi from Tekken 5 made me rage SO HARD. I generally have more problems with 3D fighter bosses than the 2D ones.

DOA 4's Alpha 152. Even if you Counter spam if she gets you in the command grab that forceblasts you at Point blank it takes off over half your health in one shot.
