So Nintendo's mystery NX got announced. Its now the switch.

It appears to be a hybrid of a portable handheled and a console.

While no real games have been announced we have seen gameplay of Skyrim, A new Mario game, Spla2on? and new characters in mario kart like King boo.

Also the list of third party devs signed on has been shown.

505 games. Indivisible on NX confirmed!

So what are your guys honest thoughts on this console are you excited, worried, or cautiously optimistic?

505 Games is on there. Could it be?

(probably not)

Worried but cautiously optimistic about frame rates.
I can't even tell the difference between 30 and 60 fps but I hope most games ain't as choppy as the Zelda footage shown when he took his dog outside.

I'll be cautiously optimistic and also confused.

Namco Bandai? Atlus? Square Enix? There are some BIG names in this pile. And Unity Support for us indie gamers, nice, nice~

Well, holy shit, I am very pleasantly surprised by all this, not only are a bunch of neat sounding games on there (KING BOO IN MARIO KART) but damn, I mean. Damn, look at all those Third Party partners, I'll buy a Switch.

tfw if we get Smash 4 port like people speculated extra characters are a possibility

Ice Climbers and Jibanyan please holy fuck

Now I'm kinda motivated to get off my ass and play all those Wii U games I didn't play, goddamn.
Lately I've just been using it as a Netflix/Amazon Machine, but I guess I could still use the Switch as that, I see no reason it won't also have Netflix

Those are some tiny controllers. Hand cramps gonna be real.

I'm a tad bit worried for people with big ass hands.
Don't worry.

We've also got big dicks, so it all balances out.

They did mention that there will be an alternate traditional controller just like last time. Beefy hands should be okay with that.

My concern though is that using an external controller with the handheld will suck, if you even can at all. I actually almost never use my TV with the Wii U, except for Splatoon since I have to. I just love being able to curl up in bed with the Gamepad instead. But now if I do that I can't have a d-pad.

seriously what the fuck why no d-pad why why why

Meh, thought they'd ditch the Gamepad concept altogether, but here it is. At least it's semi-optional now

Maybe Nintendo is aiming for a certain... audience

Is it too soon to start development on Switch?

BABBIES.

NINTENDO IS ONLY FOR BIG BABIES.

Insert politician hand size joke

I would assume everyone on that list has devkits, and has probably had them for a while. Though IDK if that means 505 could share those kits with L0 yet, or if they're just for themselves and NDAs won't let them do them.

It's probably just for Bloodstained I bet.

Wanna go out boy?

You two go for a walk, but notice he's walking a little slower than he does inside.

So it uses SD cards (or some sort of hybrid) for games, I don't know how to feel about that. I would be interested to know how many gigs can be stored on them, it might hinder support for space-hungry games.

The real question here is if the Switch makes you cool enough to be invited to roof parties.

It has to be cartridges, you can't have discs on a handheld. In theory space isn't much of a concern, there's rewriteable 2TB micro SD cards on the market, but obviously those kinds of huge cartridges are more expensive to manufacture. It's really a question of what's practical, if you can try to slim your games down to fit on a smaller and cheaper card, and how much profit margin you're willing to give up in order to use a bigger card. Over time manufacturing costs will go down so you'll see more games using larger cards by the end the of the system's lifespan.

For comparison, GBA carts have ranged between 2-32MB, DS cards were 8-512MB, then 3DS cards have been 128MB-8GB. If I just extrapolate that pattern the math comes out to around 2-128GB now. That kinda seems a bit high though, we may be hitting some diminishing returns here, so for a more conservative estimate I would guess to expect around 4-16GB at launch and 32GB later on. Maybe we could possibly see 64GB, but I have a hard time imagining games would get much larger than what currently fits on a Blu-Ray.

>Marvelous! Games in 3rd party list
>Marvelous!'s logo is in the Skullgirls opening cinematic and the credits scene

>>Opening Cinematic
>>The Gamecube had an opening cinematic.
>>The Gamecube also had a very influential game developed by HAL and Daddy Sakurai
>>Kirby's Air Ride
>>Machine Passage is a course in Air Ride
>>Lab Zero makes Machines. Like Brain Drain.
>>The name of the studio that developed Skullgirls? Lab Zero.

>>>Capcom is on the list of 3rd party developers
>>>Their latest game was Phoenix Wright- Spirit of Justice.
>>>Phoenix Wright has Godot
>>>Godot plays the Saxophone
>>>Big Band is a Saxophone
>>>Who drew Big Band's in-game art? Alex Ahad.
>>>What's the name of Skullgirls' lead creative director? Alex Ahad. Coincidence? I think not.

>>>>The Girl in the trailer gets invited to a rooftop party
>>>>Know what other game had a trailer featuring girls and rooftops?
>>>>

Let's take a look at, more clues.

>>>>>Nintendo Switch can play Skyrim
>>>>>Skyrim released in 2011
>>>>>What else released in 2011?
>>>>>The PS Vita.
>>>>>And what can you play on the PS Vita?
>>>>>Skullgirls

I have the clues but I've hit a dead end. What does this all mean? How do they all fit together?? Where does this all lead to?? When Mike Z said "Right now a Wii-U release isn't looking likely" What did he mean by this?

Only one conclusion can be taken from this:

MARVEL VS CAPCOM 4 CONFIRMED FOR NINTENDO SWITCH EXCLUSIVE

I read a comment that by making them cartridges (Which can hold 32-64 gigabytes) not only allows more space, but there's also the fact that reading them takes far less space than a disc reader, so that's also more space for the GPU, so also good.

That's not a gamecube controller that's if the gamecube had a one-night stand with the Wii U and decided to keep the baby.

I'd rather not have bits of controllers lying around everywhere

Just give me one with an actual d-pad on it. Please!

Why they changed the pause BUTTON with a plus on it to a literal PLUS still confuses me.

Curiously optimistic. Not sure about the small remotes, but it looks pretty neat nonetheless.
