Not sure if theres already a Darkstalkers thread but I've always been a big fan of Darkstalkers. Darkstalkers (Vampire and Vampire savior in Japan) is a fighting game series created by Capcom.

The first game was released to arcades in 1994 after the successes of Street Fighter. The game unlike Street fighter and most fighting games at the time didn't have a focus on martial arts for its characters but instead took inspiration from classic horror movie monsters such as Dracula, Frankenstein's Monster, The Creature from the Black Lagoon, and many more for its characters and art-style.

On an alternate Earth The Demon realm Makai merges with the Earth. with the arrival of the Demon realm came creatures of the night, Darkstalkers. However from the far reaches of space comes an alien overloard named Pyron with a goal to devour the world.

The Sequel (Darkstalkers 3) saw the revival of Jedah, previously one of the nobles of Makai, who decides that the only way to save the demon realm is to remake it. Accordingly, he lures the Darkstalkers into a trap to use their collective souls to remake the world.

The cast of characters included Morrgian the Succubus, Dimitri the Vampire lord, Felicia the Catwoman, John Talbin the Werewolf and much more.

Darkstalkers is responsible for creating mechanics such as Push-blocking, Recovery rolls, etc. These mechanics were later used in games like Marvel vs Capcom and even Skullgirls. Darkstalker characters have made numerous cameos and guest appearances in other Capcom games. However Darkstalkers itself hasn't gotten a true sequel in years and with the poor sales of Darkstalkers Resurrection the chances for a Darkstalkers 4 is low. With Capcom's current development focus aimed at Street Fighter V we may not get another Darkstalkers for a while but Yoshinori Ono has stated that is a dream of his to work on another Darkstalkers.

I was always a fan of Darkstalkers with my favorite character being Felicia. what are your guys experiences with Darkstalkers?

There was a darkstalkers thread but the write up is cool.

I played Vampire Savior quite a bit a few years ago. My third favorite fighter fighting game after MVC2 and Skullgirls.

It's a very aggressive game. Most fighters are, but VS is uniquely so. It's highspeed chess to see who gets pushed into the corner first. The balance and character variety is also really top notch IMO.

I haven't played in a few years, but I'd love to start up again if anyone wants to play the game. I used to play Bishamon, with Morrigan and Lilith as subs.

If anyone wants to play Resurrection my PSN is Magma442 add me if you want to play.

I played Darkstalkers once a LOOOOOONG time ago as a kid in an arcade. And I remember hearing about it a coupla times, but I never really got into it until recently. I really do enjoy darkstalkers. I mean, I enjoy it some ways for the female character designs, but I also really enjoy the personalities it has and just how its this giant monster mashup. I absolutely love Hsienn-Ko. I know I know, it's Lei-Lei in other translations and Lei-Lei is the sister in the english version, but I've always known her as Hsienn-Ko so that's what Ima call her.

I definately need to play more. I'm kinda sorta ultimate trash at the game XD

I played with somebody on Fightcade the other day.

Everyone I want to play with always wants to play on Ressurection otherwise. And:

TL:DR Vampire Savior is about all out offense. Defensive maneuvers exist to shift the momentum in your favor so you can begin your own rushdown.

Now I regret not hearing about this series until now. :-I

Currently going with Hsien-ko, L. Raptor, and maybe Rikuo.

Gonna be streaming Vsav the rest of this month. Hit me on Fightcade Mondays, Tuesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays after 9pm.

Yoooooooo

I've been getting back into this game lately

I'd like to learn more characters but I don't have any friends to casually play it with, and I feel I should use my main whenever I play random people since I don't wanna waste their time.

Would aaaaanyyone be up for some Fightcade games? I'm usually on after getting back from school super late (like 12 am west coast usa time lol). If you're in Europe that would probably be in the morning or afternoon though lol.

I've only fiddled around a bit with B.B. Hood casually, but would love to try and learn the game more seriously. Though IDK if I really have the execution to be playing this character...

BB is very nasty even if you don't learn her hardest stuff. "It's like they gave Guile a command throw" lol.

Anyway wanna play some anytime? I'll send you an invite on steam if you're okay with that ^_^

I've recently been getting back into it as well. I go to my local gameplace every saturday and just pump quarters into this arcade machine they have.

Qbee is still my bae

I played a darkstalkers Japanese cabinet awhile back at magfest Felicia is still my main.

I'd be down for some fightcade/ressurection matches.

I'm still trying to learn L. Raptor.

On the bright side, I know there's a place near me that has a VSav cabinet, the only problem is by close, I mean more than two hours away.

L. Raptor is amazing but his execution is so high that my fingers literally ache after I play him.

I usually have free time to play games during the weekdays at 12 am PST, which is after I finish all my homework. Except on Tuesdays.

On friday-sunday I can play whenever though.

That's my problem though, I can't even get command grab to work ever.

I know that a bunch of people in this community play VSav. Would anyone happen to know about any good Anakaris guides? Mizuumi has information on his tools, but not so much putting it all together.

SGC is very well verses in Vsav as our game is definitely inspired by it and the game also has stayed fresh and fun to this day, I as well adore it.

I main q-bee and jedah

I don't play nearly as much as I use to but I user to be very into the game, fightcade is the best play to be playing right now period outside of at events.

I don't think you're going to find anyone who knows how to play him decently around here lol. He's pretty weird and low tier.

He makes no sense so the best I've seen people do is psyching out opponents with how nonsensical he is. Not an easy time though.

@Yaya plays Anakaris. Kicked my scrub ass pretty hard too.

I need to get back into this game. I played Hsienn - ko and mr. Demon Armor. I sucked hard as both (at least it got me good at the tenrya-ha motion)

I need to download fightcade on my new rig. It'll be nice to play Vsav and such again.

Aside from Skullgirls, Darkstalkers might be my favorite fighting game franchise of all time.

It's just so charming and fun.
