I found this really neat thing on the Steam Community hub called Padlight which lights up inputs on your preferred control scheme to display on your stream. If this sounds like something you'd like to add to your stream on the side, you can go get some Skullgirls flavored skins along with a tutorial on how to set it up here: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=177947145

Thanks man I was just coming to ask exactly this, after I'd seen a couple people doing it on Twitch. I could only find a couple people selling SF ones for like $15. Skullgirls community wins again!

Edit: If it isn't saving your keybindings when you get to the I > D part, I had to go I > S for it to work.

The program defaults to I > S

Here is the padlight skin I put together.
The SG skin is supposed to look like the training mode and assist input display.
SGSr is supposed to look like training mode's scrolling input display but with the tutorial mode's button icons instead of the full stick display.

I went ahead and updated the first post with very useful links for this.

A question that wasn't covered in the tutorial: I have a Qanba Q4RAF and usually play SG with it in Xbox mode. However, Padlight isn't accepting the RT (HK) button. It's a minor inconvenience if anything, but it's still there. Also switching to PS3 mode makes the program refuse to go into POV mode.

wat do?

Sorry to bump an old thread! I hope this is okay.

I had to use xpadder. Qanba Q1 360 model here. I'm not sure if this adds significant input delay or not, but I'm only using it to record videos for training purposes so far, so it shouldn't matter in my case too much.

Code:
stick > xpadder -----v----- skullgirls (keyboard input)-----> obs
---------------/ padlight -------------------------------------^

That's the general flow of things.
In xpadder I have no preview image, just the buttons laid out vaguely like my stick and configured to WASD UIOP JKL; ] ENTER

I may remap them to hitbox layout later and adjust my padlight accordingly, because that's my preference when I actually play keyboard.

Here's my padlight skin, I based it on duckator's SG marquee, by which I mean I took his and replaced all the images.
I hope that's okay! I just whipped up basic shapes in a graphics editor.

http://www.mediafire.com/download/bgdnfzfz58w57aw/LiteboxM.zip

I have included both PP/KK and A1/A2 graphics for the macro buttons. I default to the former because that's what my macros are. Just edit the .ini and change which images it points to if you prefer the others.

Here's a preview;

Set as PS3. If you set as PC it will use HK button as a Z axis.

Did anyone get this to work with a 360 controller config, I've got the app to work, it's showing all of the input but the config is whack :\

If you mean the buttons are displaying in a different order then you'll have to open the config file and remap them in order.

Note the positioning of the buttons you press and then edit the positioning numbers as necessary to get the lights to go where you want them. Or leave the positioning alone and swap the button numbers around as needed.

Also if you use RT and LT they will not register without a work around. If you have a dual modded stick, flip the switch to PS3 as a work around.

If you're reconfiguring buttons, Padlight will blink the button you're currently assigning so you know which button to assign to what on the overlay.

so how do i make my lt button and my RT button work for this?

If you're using a 360 pad or 360 stick.. You don't. I can't find a real fix.

I think it's a driver limitation. Programs that don't recognize Xinput (is that the name?) will treat LT/RT as a Z axis instead of LT/RT. Padlight would need to be updated to recognize and properly read Xinput for proper LT/RT display.

Hm, it looks like the file hosting side of the padlight site went down. I tried to re-download it because I lost track of it on my computer and it's giving me a "File not found" error. Anyone nice enough to zip their padlight stuff and host it somewhere? Thanks.

I know it's less than timely but here you go https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/8816545/padlight.7z

Anyway, I deleted the old post because why not.
I edited the hitbox skin and made a keyboard one, since I use WASD and that up button placed on the bottom of the skin bothers me.
Download link.

I'll make a version without the "Keyboard" written later.

Hi guys... sorry to necro this thread... but when I make my skins all the BLACK is see through.... how can you make it so black is not transparent?

Try using a less than black color, like 20,20,20? Still pretty black.

You can also add a black image behind it with the same shape and size.

Thanks for the advise guys.

yeah that is how I have done it.. problem is I had a nice looking button that looked good because of the "gradient of colour" but I just drew it a different way.

I installed ApVkp. It works like a charm once you set it up, but it's also riddled with terrible design decisions. It's a nightmare to set everything up. For your convenience, I set up a layout. You might want to change things. I have the keys on the left and the movement on the right, with two sets of two set up for macros. You can swap out the images with whatever you like to reflect the macros you're using. Just bind both buttons to the same key and you're set.

If you intend to add new buttons or change the layout, be warned that you cannot leave an empty field for the caption. I put spaces there, but if you delete the spaces, it'll crash. I'm unsure why this happens, though the rest of the program is shoddy enough, so I guess I shouldn't be surprised.

I looked at the layout file itself to try and figure out how to install the thing. These steps should work, but they might not; if so, tell me.

1. Download ApVkp if you haven't already.
2. Download the beautiful buttons made by @zeknife if you haven't already.
3. Download the file below.
4. Right click the ApVkp window and open the editor.
4. Put zeknife's images and my resized versions wherever you like, and manually import them one-by-one via the "Add Image" button in the "Image - Settings" section. It's tedious, but unfortunately that's how the program was designed. If you want to make the list a little less cluttered, you can delete the sample images. It'll only delete them from the layout you have selected, so don't worry.
5. Under the "Save/Load" section, click "Load Layout." Select tedious.xml (lovingly named after ApVkp) and load it. It should load all the images and put the buttons in the correct spots.

This is what it should look like. (note: the MP+HK and LK+MP are placeholders. you can put your own macros there!)

I find that a similarity of 55 and a blend of 35 in OBS is best. You can set those settings to whatever you like, of course.

sorry for bumping this, but i have a problem with padlight.

It only works when the window is active, if i click on something else and the window for padlight isnt activated it doesnt work, basicly making it useless for me. Anybody know how to fix this?
