Indivisible: Lab Zero's Action-RPG! (General Discussion)

Seeing that muscle buster super with all that ground impact just made me think shake it bake it booty quake it.

I love seeing so many little updates back to back this week! I actually had to catch myself up a bit.

Alright, so now whenever I have Phoebe on my team, and I see a lonely Hungry Ghost wandering around somewhere, I'm going to get into a fight with it just to Pot Buster on it. I feel like that's something she would want.

I prefer the new one, prototype one sounded kinda generic
Even though I liked Kyle's Tungar, I agree. There was definitely more to explore with the character. Sunil looked like he was having a lot of fun with the part, and he sounds great with the accent, so I'm glad they're using him now. Hopefully Kyle can still be involved in the game somewhere else though.

I think Tungar is one of the characters that is going to benefit a lot from the Full VO stretch goal. In general, having the actors in the booth for longer sessions while the game is still in production, gives them a lot more freedom with how to develop the characters. Now they could totally decide to have Tungar lift an eyebrow somewhere they weren't originally planning to, just because!

I just noticed Alex's "Ph"s in the tweet.. oy x,x

After watching the gif, I can not stop having this head cannon of her voice being done by Dolya Gavanski telling her enemies that she can bench more than them.

Oh so she does have both breasts. guess that's important when you've had 3 kids. if that's still her lore.

I feel like she's gonna end up being everyone in the team's mom to boot. Even Tungar's.
Especially Tungar's. :^)

SCREAMING

It's great and all but it's starting to feel so friggin forced and obligatory. Does it have to be the same exact animation? Will other characters get obligatory Heat Extend or Slidehead? It's an RPG, so I sorta want to see more references to the team's favorite RPGs, like Alundra.

I hear what you're saying, but Potemkin Buster's one of those special references that lets us know Mike Z's still having fun with development.
Plus, I'm sure when the fandom spots an Alundra or Super Metroid reference, we'll be excited for those too.

Goddammit, I didn't even realize it was Pot Buster until y'all pointed it out.

Never change, Mike.

Pot Buster is just the easy reference for us, but I think the resemblance really only applies to Phoebe's Super. I'd say her normal Up Attack looks much more like Hugo's Backbreaker, since she's pulling them straight down out of the air. Of course, you could also just argue that these are all Sabin references!

I mean, we already got Speed Booster, Batman NES Wall jumps, and a MMX dash. Personally I count New Vasco's shoes as an Alundra reference, since they look Yoshitaka Tamaki as hell. Really Indivisible's whole aesthetic brings me back to the artwork of those old games, like Shining Force, Classic Ys, Monster World IV, and stuff.

So was there something other than this to make you feel it's forced and obligatory? Just making sure I didn't miss something.

Also that looks closer to a Kinniku Buster than a Potemkin Buster. <.<

I still wonder how Nuna will play (if she still is playable.)

Is it to hard to think up original moves or are references obligatory?

Cmon L0 give us something original.

Like Heavenly Potemkin Buster?

Problem about "going original" is there's a pretty good chance that it's already been done by now. Like, I could come up with an attack that I've never seen before then when someone sees it goes "Oh did you get this from ('original' animation source)". A seriously easy example is this recent attack. I thought it was pretty cool and original, then seeing people calling out.

Pretty much this.
The thing with designing moves for a character (or even designing characters) is that always someone will go "oh this reminds me of __ ". Because a lot of things have been done already and we take inspiration from them or we happen to make the same thing without hearing about the inspiration first.
Plus L0 is known for taking inspiration of a LOT of stuff (Skullgirls is a very good example) while STILL making something totally original and distinct at the end. (I think )

So yeah, Phoebe has a Kinniku Buster and i join Ninja on that, she looks sick as fuck. (plus seeing her shredded body, i would have been disappointed if she didn't have something like this 'w' )

That's som'in I'm liking from this animation reveal is how excited she is to use her ripped and toned physeek (spelling? <,>'') while laying the smack down on som'in. Don't usually see that in ripped/toned chars. They are usually all pissy looking, like they really didn't even want to do this.

Yeah she looks like she's having the time of her life i love it.
Also is the word you wanted is physique ?

Others have touched on this but it all depends on how you mean original.

Say you have a character who is strong that would totally toss a foe into the air and bring them down how many ways do you think you can do it? And while you're thinking of that how many ways do you think it's already been done?

This isn't even wading into just how many things in media have been called X Buster like this or being completely different.

Not *everything* that looks similar is always an homage. There's a good chance considering who we're talking about but if you run around looking for ripoffs you'll spend a lot of time claiming a grove is a forest. <.<

as a french person i gotta say french language is hardd :^) I don't blame you

And likewise, Leilani is an intriguing character, it's not everyday you see a young girl with a chainsaw-like sword :p (assuming she doesn't get a redesign that makes her lose the sword)

Welp, there's going to be crossover art of Razmi and Tharja now.

hmmmmm...

for comparison

i still kinda like the first one. but the new one is close.

[gruff and sassy]

It's good, but Cristina Vee was just too perfect in the prototype. Wonder who else she's voicing instead now.

Cristina's sass is too stronk. None can match her.

And i was just thinking it'd be fun if they got Tharja's va to voice Razmi :^)
I admit prototype Razmi was a fave but Stephanie Sheh is very good too.

Really glad we got past that full VA goal
